Elaben Bhatt, with the aim of organising women in the informal sector. SEWA represents the convergence of three movements: the labour movement, the women’s movement and the cooperative movement. Based on the philosophy of Gandhiji, SEWA’s goal is to achieve full employment and self-reliance for all its members. \r\n\r\nSEWA defines ‘full employment’ as employment that provides work security, income security, food security and social security. ‘Self-reliance’ refers to economic self–sufficiency and equitable roles in the decision-making process. These goals are achieved through a strategy of “struggle and development”. The struggle is against the many constraints imposed on women by society and the economy, and the development activities are aimed to strengthen women's collective bargaining power and provide them with sustainable new alternatives.\r\n\r\nGenesis of SEWA Bharat: \r\n\r\nSEWA’s experience in Gujarat provided encouragement to women in other states as well, with sister organizations being set up in a total of nine states till date. Together, these sister organizations constitute SEWA Bharat, the All-India Federation of Self Employed Women’s Associations. SEWA’s mandate is to highlight the issues of women working in the informal sector, and to strengthen the capacity of the different organizations that serve them. SEWA Bharat is a membership-based organization.\r\n\r\nLocal community health workers are the cornerstone of SEWA’s health program. Known as sathis, SEWA health workers serve the entire community, and work to organize SEWA members in their villages and neighbourhoods. They are educators, service providers and advocates. \r\n\r\n Objective: \r\nThe objectives of SEWA’s health programme are as follows:\r\n1. To build the community's capacity to demand their sexual and reproductive rights within a broader framework of the rights to health and social security \r\n2. To work with partners to bridge the gap in government services and increase the availability subsidized or free sexual, reproductive and other health services and advocating for availability, accessibility and quality of public services.\r\nSome of the schemes that SEWA actively works on are:\r\n• Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY Maternity benefit for institutional delivery)\r\n• Minority schemes\r\n• National Rural Employment Guarantee Act \r\n• RSBY- insurance for BPL families\r\n• Indira Avas Yojana\r\n• Ladli: Education of the girl child\r\n• Old age and widow pension\r\n• Worker schemes: ex. Bidi cards and entitlements, \r\n• Death benefits\r\n• Disability certification and benefits\r\n• Birth, death and BPL certificates", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 917, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 14, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 234, "latitude": 28.635308, "longitude": 77.22496, "city": "Delhi", "state": "Delhi", "address_1": "302, Jai appartments, Sector-9", "address_2": "(Rohini)", "postcode": "110085", "iati_country": "IN", "country": 2, "location_target": 14 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/a5/8e/a58eacf0b5a7bbad6a29882aad36ee4f.jpg", "latitude": "28.635308", "longitude": "77.22496", "city": "Delhi", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2008-07-15T15:34:32+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:54.310344+01:00", "name": "FODRA", "long_name": "Foundation of Development Research and Action", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.fodra.org.in/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+91-11-27553976", "mobile": "", "fax": "+91-11- 27566715", "contact_person": "Madhab Nayak", "contact_email": "fodra.delhi@yahoo.co.in", "description": "Fountain of Development Research and Action (FODRA) is an ideologically, politically and religiously independent non-governmental organisation committed to promoting and undertaking actions for sustainable development among people living in poverty. This statistic is overwhelming. \r\n\r\n\r\nHowever, microfinance is recognised as a sustainable, scaleable poverty alleviation response, providing resources to individuals to support and grow their livelihoods and improve the quality of their lives. Currently, we estimate that microfinance in India serves around 20 million of an estimated 100 million potential households. This leaves at least 80 million households unserved and trapped in a cycle of poverty.\r\n\r\nThe portfolio of 18 microfinance institutions (MFIs) we support in India serve over 16,00,000 million clients today. Progress for this organization during the last thirteen years can be attributed for its decisiveness at critical moments, its willingness to pass through unchartered waters and its ability to learn from mistakes. Grameen Sahara realized long before in the year 2002 that the rural areas are facing a grave threat to their livelihoods due to mounting pressure of limited financial resources, narrowing down of livelihood leveraging activities, marginalized agricultural lands and exploitation of natural resources. Hence it was deeply felt to support these un-served section of society with both financial and technical services to enhance the income requirements without compromising the health of environment. The organization therefore took an ambitious step by initiating Microfinance programme, the goal of which was to provide rural population a financial support to promote livelihood initiatives. After its initial hiccups but with assured success, Grameen Sahara started Golden Weaver’s programme. These two programmes gave Grameen Sahara confidence to carry a roadmap of supporting various sustainable livelihood leveraging activities. Created by the 2008 merger of Chitra K. Vishwanath Architects and Rainwater Club, Biome’s diverse in-house team includes designers, architects, civil and mechanical engineers and urban planners. The merging organizations have operated since 1990 and bring their unique talents to the new firm:\r\n\r\nChitra K. Vishwanath Architects\r\nHas designed and implemented hundreds of real estate developments – residences, institutions and resorts – guided by ecological principles, integrating sound water, energy and land-use thinking into design\r\n\r\nRainwater Club\r\nHas extensive expertise in providing knowledge services in water management and rainwater harvesting, ecological wastewater treatment and sanitation practices\r\n\r\nBiome’s unique capability lies in thinking through the key ecological and social issues in each project. We have extensive working relationships with specialized knowledge experts in bio-diversity, tourism, hydrogeology, and material science, whose contributions we synthesize into a coherent design strategy and plan of action.\r\nDesign is a highly personal process, and we place great emphasis on client interactions to ensure the final project incorporates the vision of sustainability with the client’s aspirations for aesthetics, functionality, and budget.\r\n\r\nOur approach\r\n\r\nBiome’s guiding philosophy is defined by an enduring commitment to environmentally and socially responsible living. The question we constantly ask ourselves is how to make positives changes in the design of our buildings and cities to reduce their environmentally harmful effects, facilitate a lifestyle in harmony with the natural world, and benefit everyone involved in the process – from the end-user to the plumber and the mason.\r\n\r\nOne standard we measure our success against is the ecological footprint, which is a tool for measuring our impact on the planet’s resources. Our architectural approach strives to reduce the ecological footprint of our buildings while humanising the urban development for a balanced, clean, and “natural” living environment that does not compromise on comforts and aesthetic. Our approach to water sustainability looks at ways to lower water demand without inconvenience and to improve long-term water security in an increasingly water scarce world.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 86, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 184, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 312, "latitude": 12.971606, "longitude": 77.594376, "city": "Bangalore", "state": "Karnataka", "address_1": "#599, 12th Main, Indiranagar, ", "address_2": "HAL 2nd Stage", "postcode": "560008", "iati_country": "IN", "country": 2, "location_target": 184 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/24/24/24241570372ba813b3102c060def3afc.jpg", "latitude": "12.971606", "longitude": "77.594376", "city": "Bangalore", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2010-02-16T14:10:31+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-07-21T12:09:35.469762+02:00", "name": "India Water Portal", "long_name": "India Water Portal", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://indiawaterportal.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+91-8041698941", "mobile": "", "fax": "+91-8041698943", "contact_person": "Vijay Krishna G", "contact_email": "portal@arghyam.org", "description": "The India Water Portal is an open, inclusive, web-based platform for sharing water management knowledge amongst practitioners and the general public.
