AMREF has 50 years’ experience in health development. In 1957, three surgeons founded the Flying Doctors Service of East Africa, laying the foundation for what is now one of the continent’s leading health development and research organisations. Today, AMREF implements its projects through country programmes in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Southern Sudan and South Africa. Training and consulting support are provided to an additional 30 African countries.\r\n\r\nKnowledge is a core product of AMREF’s activities. AMREF implements projects to learn, and shares this evidence-based knowledge with others to advocate for changes in health policy and practice. Based on the belief that health is a basic human right, AMREF seeks to empower communities to take control of their health and to establish a vibrant and participatory health care system made up of communities, health workers and governments.\r\n\r\nOur Strategic Focus:\r\nAMREF’s strategy seeks to strengthen health systems and to design and enhance interventions that improve people’s access to health through their active participation. Informed by Africa’s health crisis, AMREF’s comparative advantage and five decades’ experience of working with communities and health systems in the region, the AMREF strategy will be pursued through three interdependent programme themes:\r\n- Community Partnering for Better Health\r\n- Health Systems and Policy Research\r\n- Capacity Building", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": true, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 42, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 804, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 710, "latitude": 0.313611, "longitude": 32.581111, "city": "Kampala", "state": "", "address_1": "Balintuma Road ", "address_2": "Plot 434", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "UG", "country": 21, "location_target": 804 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/a0/88/a0882682f634db51160d33975f22d770.jpg", "latitude": "0.313611", "longitude": "32.581111", "city": "Kampala", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-08-13T13:11:16+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:57.557820+01:00", "name": "Living Goods", "long_name": "Living Goods", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://livinggoods.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+256 414 271 700", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "East Africa headquarters", "contact_email": "info@livinggoods.org ", "description": "Living Goods is an American NGO that operates Avon-like networks of door-to-door health promoters who make a modest income selling essential health products at prices affordable to the poor. The aim is to promote the effective representation of African interests in policy-making processes, and to see that international policy decisions can effectively be translated into positive outcomes for Africa. Besides, CIPESA promotes policy-making that is inclusive and contributes ti poverty alleviation. To accomplish these objectives, CIPESA works to:\r\n\r\n- Facilitate dialogue among stakeholder groups in the East and Southern Africa region;\r\n- Collaborate with journalists, NGOs, government officials, development organisations, businesses, universities and others who share an interest in the field;\r\n- Inform stakeholders by providing policy analysis and briefing materials on key issues;\r\n- Stimulate discussion and debate;\r\n- Organise and participate in workshops; and\r\n- Widely disseminate publications.\r\n\r\nCIPESA stakeholders fall into four major categories, namely the Media, Government, the private sector, and civil society. Since 2005, we have variously engaged and facilitated the media to write on our programmatic policy issues. To ensure the success of this activity, all CIPESA reports and briefings are disseminated to all enlisted journalists who are urged to quote the organisation in articles.\r\n\r\nIn working with government, CIPESA has identified key institutions and individuals who deal with international ICT policy making for special attention. Moses himself the Director for instance was born 2 months after the death of his father and by then his mother was just a young girl of 17years who later on abandoned him under the care of Moses’ grandmother at the age of 3years to explore herself a new rewarding life. Moses’ life experiences was the point for him to think too deep about helping the destitute children and today he has changed many street children into useful people in the Nyendo Community by involving them into community activities of sanitation. This helps when the community can look at these children as useful people than being subject to violence both from the police, town people and from older kids. \r\n\r\nChildren have been the main rubbish carriers with less responsibility, dumping rubbish anywhere at their convenience, for; they are made to carry big loads of garbage which rarely reach to the right destination. However, some community members have began learning by the situation and participate in voluntary cleaning of their areas. The main causes being; Poor housing and planning, Lack of enough skips located in different areas closer to the people, Reckless dumping of rubbish, Lack of a well designed dumping site for the public, lack of knowledge on the importance of keeping good sanitation behavior in our environment, Parents left the whole garbage dumping tasks in the hands of children which leaves the work poorly done , often children are found dropping these garbage on the way as it seems to be much heavy for them to Cary, people do not have dust bins at their working places.\r\nSAVO signed partnership agreement with Masaka Municipal Council to promote health and sanitation in Nyendo Ssenyange Division the activities assigned cover road sweeping, trench cleaning. This has acted as source of funding and at same time promoted sanitation. SAVO has given employment to 3 youth on the program and bought equipment to support service delivery, these were; 3 wheelbarrows 3 garden rakes, 4 pair of gloves, 3 scribing brushes, 6 brooms and 2 spades and have mobilized the community to keep proper sanitation.\r\n\r\nThe organization has been committed to the improvement of the quality of each child’s life within the context of family, community and culture.\r\nOpportunities for the child to grow physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, vocationally and in terms of economic and environmental security has been and will continue to be the essence of what SAVO programs seek to offer and promote them in ways that empower those assisted children and parents or a positive role model to direct their self-development in socially beneficial ways.\r\n\r\nVision \r\nSAVO envisage resilient children who live to their full potential, whose rights and aspirations are fulfilled.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMission \r\nSAVO’s mission is to bolster children’s ability to deal with stress or an unhealthy environment through working in and with communities focusing on areas of prevention, care, support and mitigation; and capacity building so as to strike the balance between stressful life events and favorable protective factors.\r\n\r\nGoal\r\nSAVO’s goal is to mitigate the adverse health, economic and psychosocial effects of high-risk environment of children and their families.\r\n\r\nCore values \r\nChildren our focus, love, integrity, respect for diversity, excellence, continuous learning, accountability, gender, empowerment and child participation.\r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 1026, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1115, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/97/a2/97a27779798d37bdd99b3193339f58b1.jpg", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2013-03-13T08:11:56+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:57:01.329892+01:00", "name": "Skills Plus ", "long_name": "Skills Plus,Uganda ", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.skillsplusuganda.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+256 712 069237", "mobile": "+256 773 292426", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Hakim Kirigwa ", "contact_email": "skillsplusuganda@yahoo.com", "description": "Skills Plus, Uganda is registered under the Ministry of Gender and Community Services in particular Jinja District Local Administration Registration NO 122101. Skills Plus, Uganda has now made seven (7) years in existence since it’s inception from 1st October 2006. When the organization begun, its source of funding was from it’s members, well-wishers and Computer Training. The organization had one Computer which was used for both Training and Administration. \r\n\r\n The little fees paid by the Learners, well wishers, Skills Plus founder members, volunteers and Donors has given the organization a sense of direction and continuity. On its establishment, the pioneer Board of Trustees focused on putting in place necessities required by the organization like putting in place an office, a Computer centre, Tailoring centre, HIV/AIDS counseling and Training, Garage where youths would learn the practicals of Motor Vehicle Repair and Maintenance and a welding workshop where students would come for learning and also making a source of income for the organization and so many others. However, the organization is facing the problem of Limited Resources to meet its needs and the demand of the community she is serving. \r\n\r\nSkills Plus, Uganda continues to play a leading role in providing basic Skills that can improve people’s standards of living. Some of the Skills and activities that Skills Plus, Uganda provide are; HIV/AIDS sensitization, counseling and Training of counselors , Computer training, Tailoring Training, welding and fabrication, Child Support and Nursery teaching and day care program mainly to the orphans, Vulnerable Children, community empowerment in health like constructing a garbage bank or an ash put where the community can dump their garbage to promote sanitation and hygiene in area. \r\n\r\nThis year 2012, the organization has registered some success, more so, the organization constructed a garbage bank worth $2000, this garbage bank is almost serving the whole of Bugembe town council with a population of 60000. This has improved on the health standards of our people. Our Nursery school is also doing well, we now have a population of about 150 kids of which 70% of them are helpless. The organization’s target was to laying strategies for getting volunteers to help it get financial and material support from within and outside (Local, National and International) Levels to facilitate it’s activities and programs. \r\n\r\nThe Board members take this opportunity to thank all its stake holders, more so the volunteers that have sacrificed their time and money to fund most of our planned activities to help us fulfill some of our aims and objectives. \r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": null, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1132, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [], "logo": null, "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2013-03-13T09:23:39+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:56.968571+01:00", "name": "KCDC", "long_name": "Kyamate child Devt centre", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "256 717928221", "mobile": "256 782413318", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Cathy K Musiime", "contact_email": "cathytungi@yahoo.com", "description": "It reaches vulnerable children and their families in Ntugamo municipality with cognitive, physical, social economical and spiritual services.\r\n\r\nIt is located in Ntugamo eastern division 1 km from Ntugamo town along Mirama hill road.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": null, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1129, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [], "logo": null, "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2013-03-13T09:03:44+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:59.813056+01:00", "name": "RAWESE", "long_name": "Rawese Uganda ", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+256 751 333367", "mobile": "+256 702 815889", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Sserwanga Hadijah ", "contact_email": "sserwangahadija@yahoo.com", "description": "Rakai Women's effort to save the environment is a community based organization that supports total community transformation through improved access to safe water, sanitation and integrated solid waste management with an entrepreneurship perspective.\r\n\r\nThe organization targets women and child headed household in urban and per-urban settings.\r\n\r\nour Vision is a well conserved environment free of pollutants ", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": null, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 74, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 373, "latitude": 0.32, "longitude": 32.583333, "city": "Kampala", "state": "Kampala", "address_1": "Clock Tower, Kampala", "address_2": "MmanzeCommunity/Masulita -
