"description": "The European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) governs the EU's relations with 16 of the EU's closest Eastern and Southern Neighbours. To the South: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine*, Syria and Tunisia and to the East: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Russia takes part in Cross-Border Cooperation activities under the ENP and is not a part of the ENP as such. \r\n\r\nThe ENP has been launched in 2003 and developed throughout 2004, with the objective of avoiding the emergence of new dividing lines between the enlarged EU and its neighbours and instead strengthening the prosperity, stability and security of all. It is based on the values of democracy, rule of law and respect of human rights.\r\n\r\nThe ENP was reviewed in 2011, following the 'Arab Spring' uprisings. However, given the significant developments in the Neighbourhood since 2011, it became essential to undertake a further review of the ENP. In this regard, a Joint Communication setting out the main lines of the review of the ENP, involving partner countries, international organisations, social partners, civil society and academia.\r\n\r\nUnder the revised ENP, stabilisation of the region, in political, economic, and security related terms, will be at the heart of the new policy. Moreover, the revised ENP puts a strong emphasis on two principles: the implementation of a differentiated approach to our Neighbours, to respect the different aspirations of our partners and to better answer EU interests and the interests of our partners; and an increased ownership by partner countries and Member States",

"description": "Health[e]Foundation was founded in 2003, by Fransje van der Waals, MD PhD. It was established with the conviction that accurate and state-of-the-art information is essential for healthcare workers worldwide. It takes up the challenge to provide all healthcare workers with access to this information, particularly in those parts of the world most deprived of resources.\r\n\r\nBy offering blended learning programs, Health[e]Foundation aims to give as many healthcare workers as possible access to information and knowledge that is essential for their daily clinical practice. The courses can be done online, as well as offline, facilitating learning even in the most remote areas.\r\n\r\nThe distance learning part ensures that all participants can study at their own pace and time, while the combination with short onsite trainings guarantees feedback from experts as well as colleagues. The webportal facilitates communication not only with colleagues from one's own region, but also worldwide. All courses are updated annually, ensuring that all participants have lifelong access to state-of-the-art information.\r\n",

"description": "Simavi is a Netherland-based international nonprofit organization founded in 1925. Simavi’s history was initiated in Indonesia through provision of medical assistance for health institutions. In its early years, Simavi shipped medicines, essential health supplies and resources over the ocean to support the work of medical staff. Ever since then, Simavi has shifted from transporting medicines to working with an integrated approach on local, national and international levels to improve basic health standards in 9 developing countries of 2 continents, Africa and Asia. \r\n\r\nDriven by a belief that basic health is a crucial stepping-stone for building a better existence and breaking the cycle of poverty, Simavi aims to have a world in which basic health is accessible to all. To be more focused, Simavi works on two areas which are vital for people: (1) Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH), and (2) Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). We view that everyone has the right to enjoy basic health conditions, including clean water and adequate sanitation; awareness on hygiene; comprehensive reproductive education; and reproductive health care. \r\n\r\nWASH and SRHR related health problems cannot be solved by individuals or groups working alone; rather, they require sustainable long-term solutions that allow systems to be changed and stakeholders to be in regular communication with each other. Simavi’s Theory of Change is designed to ensure this will happen by involving everyone, from community, private sector to governmental level, to work together towards the same goal: the structural improvement of basic health. In this way a fundamental contribution is given to the development of structural provisions for childsren with a seemingly hopeless future.\r\n\r\nTwo kilometers from Bodhgaya, where according to the tradition The Buddha reached enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in hte world-famous Mahabodhi temple, a children village was built with associated infrastructure. In accordance with the local culture the village for children is called \"Lord Buddha Home for Children\". This complex facilitates in a shelter for hundred children, girls as well boys, in small family houses for 10 children each. The children are raised by their \"own\" mother, who gives them the loved and respect they deserve. A health centre wich is also available for the local community, a pray- annex recreation building and staff rooms are part of the village. A primary school will soon get under construction. Since this year there is also a vocational training centre, wich is also available for the children and youth from the local community.\r\nThe buildings are surrounded by a play yard, sportfields, a kitchen garden and soon here will be a small farm for hte kids.\r\n\r\nBecause of the numbers and the problems of the outcast children in Bodhgaya region, it's impossible to house all the outcast children in the village. To prevent theze children from derailing, The \"Lord Buddha Home for Children\" provides Community Empowerment programs about health care, education and employment for these children and their families. In this context healthcare is the foundation for a healthy society. When people are healthy, it becomes easier for them to follow an education learn a trade ans work towards a better life. Therefore we have setting up Multi Activity Centres (MA|C's), run by local people, where people can learn how to control their helath, the helath of their family and how to improve the local living conditions.\r\nThese extensions to the program are seen as innovative elements in finding a solution for the current problems facing the orphans and outcast children in and around Bodhgaya. they add enormous value to the program.\r\n\r\nThe Stichting Kinderhulp Bodhgaya/Child Welfare Bodhgaya Foundation is cooperating the programs with the NGO Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in Hazaribag, India. This organization is raised in 1971 and well known in India and also international.",

"description": "Four engineering graduates who were very sensitive to the causes of disparity, exploitation and poverty established Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra in 1971. Motivated by the vision and ideas of the great Sarvodaya leader Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, these graduates made the decision to abandon their careers and comfortable lifestyles in order to explore ways to establish a just society, in which no one remains hungry, unemployed, exploited, or discriminated against. NBJK has grown significantly over the years. From its humble beginnings in a small dalit hamlet in the village of Bahera in Hazaribag in the state of Jharkhand, the organization now has a presence in 10 districts of Jharkhand and Bihar. NBJK also works in close partnership with a networked of voluntary organizations and small groups in an additional 40 districts in the two states.\r\n\r\nThe organization aims at facilitating a just and egalitarian society through an integrated development approach, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of society. The 6 core program areas are as follows: education; eye care and health; micro credit and socio-economic development; solid waste management and sanitation; small group support, advocacy, and governance; and disaster relief. \r\n\r\nNBJK is registered as a society under the Society Registration Act XXI, 1860 at Patna, Bihar. "description": "PEN is a non-political organisation representing writers of the world, defending free-expression and encouraging literature. We live by a strong PEN Charter, which champions the ideal of “one humanity living in peace in one world”. Is this not an ideal to uphold for all people on all continents, including Africa?\r\n\r\nWrite! Africa Write! becomes a call for African writers to say what they wish to say and to eschew the divisions of the past in favour of the idea of one humanity living in peace on one continent. Originally PEN stood for Poets, Playwrights, Essayists, Editors, and Novelists. A leading voice of literature, PEN now brings together poets, novelists, essayists, historians, playwrights, critics, translators, editors, journalists and screenwriters in a common concern for the craft and art of writing and a commitment to freedom of expression through the written word. Through its 145 Centres in more than 104 countries, PEN International operates on all six continents. The South African PEN Centre (PEN SA) is a branch of PEN International.\r\n\r\nPEN SA welcomes new members – to qualify for membership you need to be a published writer (one literary work or more published by a recognised publisher) or a person deemed by the committee to be recognised as of sufficient standing. Membership of PEN SA is open to all South Africans, including non-South Africans permanently resident in South Africa. The committee is the final judge of any candidate for election to PEN SA. Candidates for membership are also required to agree to subscribe to the PEN Charter. If you are in agreement with the PEN Charter and would like to be considered for membership please email Deborah Horn-Botha information regarding your publication/s (your literary “CV”) and she will pass it on to the committee.",
