He is affiliated with the ‘Academy of Tourism’ and the ‘professorship Visitor Studies’. \r\n\r\nEugenio studied human geography with a specialisation in ‘International Development Studies’ at Utrecht University. He pursued a PhD degree (Cum laude) at Groningen University, The Netherlands, under the supervision of Professor Gregory Ashworth. His dissertation is titled Colonial Heritage and Ethnic Pluralism; Its socio-psychological meaning in a multiethnic society. \r\n\r\nHis research and teaching expertise include tourism product development and planning; heritage and tourism; uses and meanings of heritage; human resource development and tourism in developing countries; tourism research methods and techniques; sustainability in tourism. At NHTV, he teaches courses in Tourism Management and Heritage Tourism. He also teaches in the scientific Bsc/MA program Tourism in cooperation between NHTV and Wageningen University.\r\n\r\nBoth his dissertation and teaching activities use a combination of social and psychological approaches to the study of heritage and tourism concepts, most notably concepts that are situated on the boundary between the political and socio-psychological uses of heritage and tourism. Realizing this, the question African Monitor is asking is “how does one design development systems and economies which works for grassroots communities?”\r\n\r\nFrom the perspective of grassroots communities with which African Monitor works, the message is clear – the African Moment will be realized when all of Africa’s citizens are able to effectively access the continent’s resources and economic opportunities so that they can independently generate and sustain their own livelihoods. It is clear that grassroots communities are largely not seeking handouts – but rather seek the same opportunities afforded to others, which make it possible to survive and thrive. This helps when the community can look at these children as useful people than being subject to violence both from the police, town people and from older kids. \r\n\r\nChildren have been the main rubbish carriers with less responsibility, dumping rubbish anywhere at their convenience, for; they are made to carry big loads of garbage which rarely reach to the right destination. However, some community members have began learning by the situation and participate in voluntary cleaning of their areas. The main causes being; Poor housing and planning, Lack of enough skips located in different areas closer to the people, Reckless dumping of rubbish, Lack of a well designed dumping site for the public, lack of knowledge on the importance of keeping good sanitation behavior in our environment, Parents left the whole garbage dumping tasks in the hands of children which leaves the work poorly done , often children are found dropping these garbage on the way as it seems to be much heavy for them to Cary, people do not have dust bins at their working places.\r\nSAVO signed partnership agreement with Masaka Municipal Council to promote health and sanitation in Nyendo Ssenyange Division the activities assigned cover road sweeping, trench cleaning. This has acted as source of funding and at same time promoted sanitation.
