These are: Somali and Karamoja clusters in the north, the Lake Victoria cluster in the south west of the country and the Nairobi-Nakuru cluster in central Kenya.\r\n\r\nThe work carried out by Practical Action regional office in Kenya is centred on three themes:\r\n\r\nReducing vulnerability\r\nTo strengthen the ability of poor women and men to use technology to cope with threats to their livelihoods from natural disasters, environmental degradation and civil conflict.\r\n\r\nMaking markets work for poor people\r\nTo enable poor women and men to use technologies effectively in systems of production, processing and marketing to build secure livelihoods.\r\n\r\nImproving access to infrastructure services\r\nTo improve the access of poor women and men to locally managed infrastructure services.\r\nThe three areas of work are supervised and guided by three programme team leaders. The programme implementation team consists of project managers who are responsible for managing the different projects that come under each broad theme area.\r\n\r\nIn addition, there is also a Quality Assurance and Fundraising Unit, which incorporates: fundraising, communications and the resource centre. The Unit not only provides support to the organization by giving inputs to evaluation and monitoring of projects and by liaising with donors and funding organizations but also facilitates information sharing of the project experiences, profile raising and financial support for the organisation. It aims to strengthen Practical Action-EA's presence as a lead authority in poverty alleviation through the use of appropriate technologies and processes within the East Africa region. "description": "SEND-West Africa is a consolidation of three autonomous national non-governmental organisations: SEND-Ghana, SEND-Liberia and SEND-Sierra Leone with each country programme guided by an independent strategic plan. SEND became operational in Ghana in 1998; Liberia in 2004; and Sierra-Leone in 2007. Informed by the marked differences in the political and economic contexts of these countries, each country programme has separate management and programming strategies to respond effectively to the respective country needs and peculiarities.\r\n\r\nSEND-Ghana is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in August 1998 with the maiden name: Social Enterprise Development (SEND) Foundation of West Africa. In 2000, SEND-Ghana started the implementation of its first programme – the Eastern Corridor Livelihood Security Promotion Programme (ECLSPP) – aimed at addressing practical development needs of communities through an integrated approach to service delivery. \r\n\r\nSEND Liberia is the second oldest and largest Program. Efforts to establish it started in 1999 but this initiative was aborted due to the escalation of the civil war at the time. In 2003 the comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended the war was achieved and SEND, like most civil society organizations, in 2004, renewed engagement with Liberia by registering with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs.\r\n\r\nSEND Sierra Leone’s programme aims to alleviate poverty and promote equality between women and men in Kailahun District. Through its projects SEND-Sierra Leone applies a participatory integrated development approach, which promotes gender equality and includes advocacy for the poor.It aims to work to address basic needs, as well as the systemic causes of poverty and injustice.", "notes": "Organisation duplicate 1369 deleted", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 543, "content_owner": 303, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1351, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 1513, "latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 0.0, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "ET", "country": 12, "location_target": 1351 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/64/ab/64ab208e3222a55aa9d9de8282e892cb.jpg", "latitude": "0.0", "longitude": "0.0", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2013-06-24T00:00:00+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2016-03-08T09:26:29.799126+01:00", "name": "PANOS ETHIOPIA", "long_name": "PANOS ETHIOPIA", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "K", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 80, "iati_org_id": "", "url": "www.oneworld.org/panos www.panosea.org", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "Panos Eastern Africa (PEA or Panos) is south-led and based regional information and communications for development, not for profit, non government organisation that believes quality information is a right for all and a tool for development.
