Elaben Bhatt, with the aim of organising women in the informal sector. SEWA represents the convergence of three movements: the labour movement, the women’s movement and the cooperative movement. Based on the philosophy of Gandhiji, SEWA’s goal is to achieve full employment and self-reliance for all its members. \r\n\r\nSEWA defines ‘full employment’ as employment that provides work security, income security, food security and social security. ‘Self-reliance’ refers to economic self–sufficiency and equitable roles in the decision-making process. These goals are achieved through a strategy of “struggle and development”. The struggle is against the many constraints imposed on women by society and the economy, and the development activities are aimed to strengthen women's collective bargaining power and provide them with sustainable new alternatives.\r\n\r\nGenesis of SEWA Bharat: \r\n\r\nSEWA’s experience in Gujarat provided encouragement to women in other states as well, with sister organizations being set up in a total of nine states till date. Together, these sister organizations constitute SEWA Bharat, the All-India Federation of Self Employed Women’s Associations. SEWA’s mandate is to highlight the issues of women working in the informal sector, and to strengthen the capacity of the different organizations that serve them. SEWA Bharat is a membership-based organization.\r\n\r\nLocal community health workers are the cornerstone of SEWA’s health program. Known as sathis, SEWA health workers serve the entire community, and work to organize SEWA members in their villages and neighbourhoods. They are educators, service providers and advocates. \r\n\r\n Objective: \r\nThe objectives of SEWA’s health programme are as follows:\r\n1. To build the community's capacity to demand their sexual and reproductive rights within a broader framework of the rights to health and social security \r\n2. To work with partners to bridge the gap in government services and increase the availability subsidized or free sexual, reproductive and other health services and advocating for availability, accessibility and quality of public services.\r\nSome of the schemes that SEWA actively works on are:\r\n• Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY Maternity benefit for institutional delivery)\r\n• Minority schemes\r\n• National Rural Employment Guarantee Act \r\n• RSBY- insurance for BPL families\r\n• Indira Avas Yojana\r\n• Ladli: Education of the girl child\r\n• Old age and widow pension\r\n• Worker schemes: ex. Benchmarking the KFC Certification Scheme to other codes such as GlobalGap, Fair Flowers Fair Plants (FFP), Tescos Nurture, KS- 1758 in addition to 23 different Kenya Government statutes, provides an opportunity to conduct “Combi” audits as a measure of effective and efficient service to members.\r\n\r\nIt also embraces the principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention, International Code of Conduct (ICC), Ethical Trade Initiatives (ETI) and the Horticulture Ethical Business Initiatives. \r\n\r\nAs of August 2015, KFC had a producer membership of 94 flower farms situated throughout the country. The current KFC membership represents about 70% of the flowers exported from Kenya. Associate membership stands at 62 members representing major Cut Flower Auctions and Distributors in UK, Holland, Switzerland, Germany and Kenya. Associate members are involved in the flower sector through flower imports, provision of farm inputs and other affiliated services.\r\n\r\nKFC is a member of:\r\n\r\nGlobal Gap\r\nFloriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI)\r\nUnion Fleurs\r\nCOLEACP\r\nKenya Horticultural Council (KHC)\r\nHorticulture Council of Africa (HCA)\r\nKenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) \r\nKenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM)\r\nFederation of Kenya Employers (FKE)\r\nNational Taskforce on Horticulture.\r\nTHE VISION\r\n“To be the lead organization in the provision of representational, self-regulation and promotion services for the floriculture industry in Kenya.”\r\n\r\nSTRATEGY\r\n“Active participation in the formulation and implementation of policies governing sustainable development of the floriculture sector”.\r\n\r\nTHE MISSION\r\n“To promote economic, social and political interests of the floriculture industry through active participation in the determination and implementation of policies governing sustainable development of the sector”.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 4947, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2475, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 2660, "latitude": 12.997487, "longitude": 80.200637, "city": "Chennai", "state": "Tamil Nadu", "address_1": "MAEGA TRUST, 3C/6, West Raja Street", "address_2": "Alandur, Kanchipuram District", "postcode": "600 016", "iati_country": "IN", "country": 2, "location_target": 2475 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/00/0e/000e1aa978bd4e125c9d124410298278.jpg", "latitude": "12.997487", "longitude": "80.200637", "city": "Chennai", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2014-11-24T08:50:33+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2014-11-24T08:50:33+01:00", "name": "MAEGA Trust", "long_name": "Mass Empowerment for Growth Alternatives Trust", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://maegatrust.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "91 4422325463", "mobile": "9840478879", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Mrs J Regina", "contact_email": "maega27@hotmail.com", "description": "Mass Empowerment for Growth Alternatives Trust (MAEGA TRUST) is a WOMENS’ ORGANISATION, initiated in 1998 by a group of women social workers to ensure `Rights to every Girl Child and Women’.
