"description": "International Sports Alliance is a non-profit organisation that supports programmes in the field of sport for development and peace. We consider sport an effective tool for development and peace as it provides a regulated and neutral context where emotions such as aggression, anger and sadness, but also joy and happiness can be expressed and reflected upon. It disregards geographical borders and is a universal language that people all over the world understand. Furthermore it is a cost-effective way to reach large audiences of active participants and non-participants. \r\nIn all our activities our overall objective is to improve the capacities and sustainability of local organisations that are located in marginalized and (post)conflict areas. We focus on the needs and requests from local Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) that have a wish to initiate or improve sport for development and peace practices. Within our organisation we emphasize and promote the right for participation for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, religion or handicap. Among the countries in which we are active are Burkina Faso, Mali, Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, South-Sudan, Surinam and South Africa.\r\n\r\nIn order to use sports as a tool for development and peace it is imperative to develop, organise and structure projects and programmes in such a manner that the positive force of sports can be used. International Sports Alliance offers professional competences to develop and improve the works of sustainable sport for development projects and programmes. We offer academic and professional expertise on sports leadership, communication, project planning, organizational management, lobbying and education. Furthermore, we have an extended national and international network of partners, companies and organisations that support our partners with their expertise, and technical and financial support.",

"description": "The aims of GNP+ are to improve the quality of life, through equitable and universal access to services, for all PLHIV. As the global network of people living with HIV, GNP+’s core strategy is to operationalise the GIPA principle at all levels of the global response through involving PLHIV in all aspects of the HIV response and related services. Since the founding of the organisation, GNP+’s core activities have centred on advocacy, information and knowledge management, and network and community strengthening. Advocacy has been the traditional focus of GNP+ and has included a range of strategies such as activism; campaign and \r\npolicy dialogue; programmes; and services. \r\nIn order to improve the advocacy efforts taken, GNP+ has increasingly invested its time and resources into action research and knowledge management to effectively communicate the information and evidence originating from said research. \r\nGNP+, as a network of networks, undertakes its daily work aided by management support from an international Secretariat and strategic guidance and oversight from the international Board. Through this network of networks structure, GNP+ has supported PLHIV to organise themselves to improve their lives and articulate their needs from the community level through international policy forums. GNP+ currently consists of six regional, autonomous PLHIV networks which serve as regional hubs for national and local networks. GNP+ also provides a platform for new and emerging PLHIV networks among specific populations and constituencies and through social media. The Y+ Programme for young PLHIV and the Positive Community, GNP+’s virtual community, are two such examples of key emerging networks and indicate GNP+’s ommitment \r\nto incorporate the many ways that PLHIV network with one another, be it based on geography and/or other associations.",

"description": "The Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC) is a secular body that helps the major religions of the world to develop their own environmental programmes, based on their own core teachings, beliefs and practices. \r\n\r\nWe help the religions link with key environmental organisations – creating powerful alliances between faith communities and conservation groups.\r\n\r\nMore and more secular agencies now recognise the importance of working with religions, and the significant work of faith groups on environmental issues is growing rapidly.\r\n\r\nCurrent programmes range from assisting Christian, Muslim and Hindu groups in sub-Saharan Africa to develop long-term environmental action plans; helping the faiths make their sacred places more sustainable through the world's first Green Pilgrimage Network; working with Daoists and Buddhists in Asia (particularly China) to make their teachings on protecting nature more relevant to today's generations; and harnessing the faiths’ authority to end the illegal wildlife trade.\r\n\r\nARC was founded in 1995 by HRH Prince Philip. We now work with 11 major faiths through the key traditions within each faith. We are not funded by any faith group.\r\n\r\nWhy work with the religions?\r\n\r\n- The faiths are the largest sector of civil society; 85% of the world’s people describe themselves as belonging to a faith.\r\n- The faiths own 7-8% of the habitable land surface of the planet, including 5% of forests worldwide. They also have influence over 15% of forests considered sacred.\r\n- They are involved in more than half of schools worldwide.\r\n- They are among the largest investment blocks on the global stock market.\r\n- They produce more newspapers than the whole of the European Union.\r\n- More important, they are trusted as a source – often the leading source – of wisdom, information and authority in many parts of the world.",

"description": "Water Access\r\nLiving Water has been working in the area of water provision for 22 years, and it continues to be a cornerstone of our work in every country we operate in. Water access is about more than just installing water systems. It’s about installing the right systems, which might mean water wells, rainwater harvesting, protected springs, or something else entirely. And it’s about helping whole communities and regions have enough safe, accessible, reliable water to significantly improve the lives of the people who live there.\r\n\r\nSanitation\r\nIn places where there is no safe, clean place to go to the toilet, people struggle with disease, lack of privacy, and indignity. Once communities have access to safe, sustainable water, they can improve their sanitation, dramatically raising their quality of life—improving health, increasing school achievement, and multiplying productivity. In many areas, Living Water helps community members develop plans for sanitation that result in clean, functional latrines in homes, schools, clinics, and churches.\r\n\r\nHygiene Promotion\r\nSafe water and sanitation systems are important, but to have an impact, people need to use them effectively to improve their health. Education is important—helping people understand how to prevent diseases by washing their hands, storing their water properly, and using a latrine. But head knowledge is just the beginning; helping communities identify important behaviors and make their own plan to use them is the end goal.\r\n\r\nChristian Witness\r\nOur concern is for whole people—physical and spiritual. As followers of Jesus, we know that he has the power to transform people, restore relationships, and heal factors that lead to poverty, hunger, and thirst. We work with local churches wherever we find them, identify ways we can be part of what God is already doing, and share the good news about Jesus in simple ways—like telling stories and asking questions.\r\n\r\nSustainability\r\nFor all of these things to be effective for the long term, we have to involve the community from the very beginning. We’re learning alongside the communities we serve that projects are most sustainable when they respond to both need and demand, when financing is carefully thought through, and when management is handled locally with lots of ongoing support.",

This is made possible because all the administration work is carried out entirely by unpaid volunteers. The patron of Rainbows4children is the renowned BBC journalist, Michael Buerk.\nOur charter is to:\n1. Help young people in Ethiopia to have better lives, with a primary focus on education.\n2. Be organised in a fully transparent way, with full accountability to our donors. 100% of all money raised will be spent on children.\n3. Provide feedback to donors on all projects.\n4. Look for sustainable projects, which eventually can be maintained and funded by the local community.\n5. Select projects, which are catalytic in nature. Relatively small amounts of money can provide training, which enables local people to help each other.\n6. Provide assistance regardless of gender, politics or religion.",

"description": "Just Play is a sport for social development programme designed to target children aged 6-12 years and providing an environment where children learn, grow and explore football in a positive and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nDelivered by teachers, in primary schools (during school hours), and by community volunteers (after school hours), the programme engages children through active participation in an organised series of interactive football sessions. Through the integration of social messages into all sessions and activities, children learn to develop healthy lifestyle habits, include persons with disabilities, support and encourage gender equality and increase their school and community engagement.",
