"description": "UNHCO was conceived by a group of Ugandans drawn from various professional disciplines who share common concerns and a vision of a health sector that provides quality health care for the mutual benefit of both providers and consumers.\r\n\r\nSince its inception in 1999, UNHCO has been implementing programmes that advocate for a strong institutionalized platform that is able to articulate voices of consumers of health goods and services. UNHCO has championed the Rights Based Approach (RBA) to healthcare delivery and contributed to efforts to improve community participation and accountability.\r\n\r\nThe focus is on the most vulnerable persons including women, PwDs, children, and PLWHA.\r\n\r\nThe strategy is through;\r\n\r\n- Raising awareness among health service users, providers and policy makers about health rights and responsibilities.\r\n- Policy research, Advocacy and review processes to address access, equity, quality and accountability.\r\n- Creating synergies with other CSOs, relevant Government departments, development partners and strategic allies and establishing a credible working partnership with the media among others.\r\n- Feedback to promote and improve communication between users and providers by strengthening referral and redress mechanisms and building a partnership for conflict resolution.\r\n",

Twaweza believes that lasting change requires bottom-up action. We seek to foster conditions and expand opportunities through which millions of people can get information and make change happen in their own communities directly and by holding government to account.\r\n\r\nTwaweza works to provide practical information to everyone, to foster quality independent media and citizen monitoring services. By addressing these issues through its partner organizations, Twaweza works to foster what it calls an 'ecosystem of change,' through building on, as well as triggering, the actions of citizens to make a difference. Twaweza has three core areas: brokering partnerships, Uwazi, and learning and communication.",

"description": "Supplying water to rural communities, schools and hospitals is the main objective of TGS Water. TGS Water drills deep and shallow boreholes, constructs protected springs and small piped water supply systems, rehabilitates existing boreholes and carries out pumping tests to assess optimum yields of boreholes. TGS Water is a co-operation of the 4 shareholders of the company: The Good Shepherd Foundation, established in the Netherlands in 1999, has been involved in rural development projects in Uganda and India. The Good Shepherd is active in fundraising in the Netherlands.Water, Environment and Geo Services Ltd. (WE Consult) was founded in 1997 and has been involved in the provision of consultancy services in the water sector in Uganda and other African countries. WE Consult carries out all the water resources investigations for TGS Water before the sources are constructed. The Diocese of Lira, through CARITAS Lira, has been working with the TGS Foundation since 2004. In the period 2004-2007 the CARITAS water department has constructed over 150 springs and 20 shallow boreholes in the Lira Diocese area. In 2007 the water department staff was integrated in TGS Water Ltd. In 2009, Stichting Afrika Projecten will also participate in TGS Water Ltd. This foundation has financed 60 protected springs in Uganda besides implementing a water programme in Kenya. The Kenya programme will be closed and SAP will move their water programme to Uganda. They will finance their activities through Link to Progress, an NGO newly established by SAP and the TGS Foundation.",

We work through local churches to unlock people's potential.\r\nAt Tearfund, what drives us is a belief that the local church is a powerful force for transformation in communities living in every kind of poverty. Inspired by the example and teaching of Jesus, we recognise that people have deeply interconnected material and spiritual needs, and we seek to meet those needs by working through our local church partners. Churches are at the heart of their communities – full of dedicated, resourceful people who want to make a long-term difference.\r\n\r\nWe work particularly in Africa, Asia and South America – and also across Eastern Europe and the UK. Right now, we’re focussing on some of the biggest challenges facing the world today\r\n",

"description": "World Vision has been working in South Sudan since 1989 and was one of the few humanitarian agencies that provided emergency assistance during war to the displaced populations in what was then the Southern Sudan region of Sudan and continued to do so after the birth of the Republic of South Sudan.\r\nThe widespread violence that broke out in Juba on eve of South Sudan’s 5th anniversary of independence made an already unprecedented humanitarian emergency even worse, putting an incredible strain on the humanitarian system that millions of South Sudanese across the country depend on to survive. \r\nBefore the violence broke out, South Sudan was already facing wide-spread food insecurity and malnutrition with a risk of famine growing in several parts of the country.\r\nAccording to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) for the Republic of South Sudan released in June, the overall food security and nutrition situation has continued to worsen resulting in over 4.8 million people (about a third of the population) experiencing acute levels of hunger and malnutrition.\r\nThis is an increase of one million people overall and a 40 percent increase in number of children treated for severe malnutrition since the same period last year.\r\nWorld Vision has stepped up its operations in and around Juba and has also continued to provide humanitarian assistance in other parts of the country\r\nSince 2015, World Vision has reached over 1.3 million South Sudanese, of which more than 630,000 are children.",
