Skills Plus, Uganda has now made seven (7) years in existence since it’s inception from 1st October 2006. When the organization begun, its source of funding was from it’s members, well-wishers and Computer Training. The organization had one Computer which was used for both Training and Administration. \r\n\r\n The little fees paid by the Learners, well wishers, Skills Plus founder members, volunteers and Donors has given the organization a sense of direction and continuity. On its establishment, the pioneer Board of Trustees focused on putting in place necessities required by the organization like putting in place an office, a Computer centre, Tailoring centre, HIV/AIDS counseling and Training, Garage where youths would learn the practicals of Motor Vehicle Repair and Maintenance and a welding workshop where students would come for learning and also making a source of income for the organization and so many others. However, the organization is facing the problem of Limited Resources to meet its needs and the demand of the community she is serving. \r\n\r\nSkills Plus, Uganda continues to play a leading role in providing basic Skills that can improve people’s standards of living. Some of the Skills and activities that Skills Plus, Uganda provide are; HIV/AIDS sensitization, counseling and Training of counselors , Computer training, Tailoring Training, welding and fabrication, Child Support and Nursery teaching and day care program mainly to the orphans, Vulnerable Children, community empowerment in health like constructing a garbage bank or an ash put where the community can dump their garbage to promote sanitation and hygiene in area. \r\n\r\nThis year 2012, the organization has registered some success, more so, the organization constructed a garbage bank worth $2000, this garbage bank is almost serving the whole of Bugembe town council with a population of 60000. This has improved on the health standards of our people. Our Nursery school is also doing well, we now have a population of about 150 kids of which 70% of them are helpless. The organization’s target was to laying strategies for getting volunteers to help it get financial and material support from within and outside (Local, National and International) Levels to facilitate it’s activities and programs. \r\n\r\nThe Board members take this opportunity to thank all its stake holders, more so the volunteers that have sacrificed their time and money to fund most of our planned activities to help us fulfill some of our aims and objectives. \r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": null, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2279, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 4781, "latitude": -1.292066, "longitude": 36.821945, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "CH", "country": 27, "location_target": 2279 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/0c/bb/0cbb1040c47e68b5a22ca8af6ee20bf0.jpg", "latitude": "-1.292066", "longitude": "36.821945", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2014-09-18T14:20:20+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-06-11T14:54:33.479904+02:00", "name": "SKAT", "long_name": "SKAT", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "C", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 70, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.skat-foundation.org", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "Skat is an independent Swiss resource centre and consultancy company which works in the fields of development and humanitarian aid. In its early years, Simavi shipped medicines, essential health supplies and resources over the ocean to support the work of medical staff. Ever since then, Simavi has shifted from transporting medicines to working with an integrated approach on local, national and international levels to improve basic health standards in 9 developing countries of 2 continents, Africa and Asia. \r\n\r\nDriven by a belief that basic health is a crucial stepping-stone for building a better existence and breaking the cycle of poverty, Simavi aims to have a world in which basic health is accessible to all. To be more focused, Simavi works on two areas which are vital for people: (1) Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH), and (2) Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). We view that everyone has the right to enjoy basic health conditions, including clean water and adequate sanitation; awareness on hygiene; comprehensive reproductive education; and reproductive health care. \r\n\r\nWASH and SRHR related health problems cannot be solved by individuals or groups working alone; rather, they require sustainable long-term solutions that allow systems to be changed and stakeholders to be in regular communication with each other. Simavi’s Theory of Change is designed to ensure this will happen by involving everyone, from community, private sector to governmental level, to work together towards the same goal: the structural improvement of basic health. We do this together with partners in 10 African and Asian countries. Our goal is a world in which all women and girls can exercise their right to water and sanitation, resulting in a healthier and more just society. \r\n\r\nIn a rapidly changing world grappling with major crises in the areas of climate, health and human rights, Simavi focuses on three areas where we believe we can achieve the greatest impact with our projects, lobbying and campaigns: equality, climate and power. \r\n\r\nWe want to increase the involvement and leadership of women in water and sanitation. We believe that women's and girls' access to climate-resilient water and sanitation is at the heart of climate justice. We are also convinced that women's voices and expertise are crucial for change when it comes to water and sanitation. \r\n\r\nOur work is part of the Sustainable Development Goals and Simavi focuses specifically on three interconnected SDGs: water and sanitation (SDG6); gender equality (SDG5) and climate (SDG13).
