The GMMB is governed by the National Liberation Council Decree (NLCD) 387 of 1969, now known as Act 387 of 1969, which was further strengthened by the Executive Instrument (E.I.) 29 of 1973.\r\n\r\nThe history of GMMB can be traced to the establishment of an Ethnographic Museum at Achimota College in 1929. That museum was transferred to the Department of Archaeology at the University of the Gold Coast, when the university was created in 1948. \r\nIn 1952, there was the awareness of the need to conserve the past. The British Colonial government then put in place an ‘Interim Council of the National Museum of the Gold Coast’ to facilitate the creation of a national museum.\r\n\r\nThe Interim Council of the National Museum of the Gold Coast and the Monuments and Relics Commission merged, and this led to the passing of the Museum and Monuments Board Ordinance (GOLD COAST No. 20 of 1957), which established the GMMB.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 5066, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2121, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 1951, "latitude": 5.6144308, "longitude": -0.2020385, "city": "Accra", "state": "", "address_1": "No. 8 Nii Bonnie first link", "address_2": "Dzorwulu", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "GH", "country": 11, "location_target": 2121 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/e0/b3/e0b396d1f27098842485b06c9a1aad42.jpg", "latitude": "5.6144308", "longitude": "-0.2020385", "city": "Accra", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2014-05-28T09:23:41+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-11-10T10:41:12.037987+01:00", "name": "GNWP", "long_name": "Ghana Netherlands WASH Programme", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "G", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 10, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.GNWP.nl/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "(+233) 30 2214350 ", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Ms. Astrid van Agthoven (EKN)", "contact_email": "ACC@minbuza.nl", "description": "The Ghana Netherlands WASH Programme (GNWP) is funded by the Government of Ghana and the Netherlands Government. Efforts to establish it started in 1999 but this initiative was aborted due to the escalation of the civil war at the time. Considerable amount of work is also ongoing in transmission and distribution.\r\nWhile a lot of attention has been focused on issues surrounding electricity supply, massive progress has been made and continues to be made in the provision of potable water for our people. Since 2009, major interventions and substantial investment have been made in the water sector. This is to enable the project adequately address the perennial water crisis experienced in most rural communities in Northern Ghana which led to the spread of the guineaworm disease which became endemic in some Districts. \r\n\r\nThe Project focuses on education of beneficiaries on the essence of good Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices to ensure improvement in the health and livelihoods of the people. Not only to improve school attendance by pupils in these communities, but to enhance the economic activity of their parents for improved educational support from the families.\r\n\r\nA lot of emphasis is also placed on the training of local Artisans (community people) in the construction and maintenance of rainwater harvesting tanks to ensure sustainability and spread of the technology. \r\n\r\nThe coverage area of the project is currently within communities in the Northern Region of Ghana. This is mainly because, due to their guinea worm endemic nature in the past, they were prioritized for the intervention to make good drinking water available to the people to check the spread of the disease. \r\nOur vision is to expand our services to the other regions with perenniel water problems in future. \r\n\r\nPresby Water Project joined the Ghana WASH Alliance in 2009 in order to leverage additional funding and technical assistance to meet this dream.\r\n\r\nOver the past 5 years, a total of 24 institutional and 200 household tanks have been constructed by the project in 7 districts of the Northern Region.\r\n\r\nSimilarly, 150 tanks have been constructed in collaboration with local partners such as Christian Children's Fund in Canada (CCFC), Technoserve and NewEnergy among others. \r\n\r\nThe significance of the introduction and promotion of rainwater harvesting in these communities cannot be over emphasised because of the visible impact it has made in the eradication of the disease from the area. \r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 469, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] } ] }{ "count": 6074, "next": "
