TI-Kenya is one of the autonomous chapters of the global Transparency International movement that are all bound by a common vision of a corruption-free world. The global movement provides a platform for sharing knowledge and experience, developing strategies to respond to regionally distinct patterns of corruption and initiating advocacy campaigns at both the regional and sub-regional level. The vision of TI Kenya is that of a transparent, accountable and corruption-free Kenya and the mission is to transform the society and institutions by supporting the development of high integrity leadership in all sectors and at all levels. TI-Kenya’s key goals are: Institutions that are efficient and deliver quality services; and, a society that upholds and promotes integrity.\r\n\r\nThe strategic objectives are:\r\n•\tTo strengthen governance in targeted institutions – TI-Kenya believes that strengthening governance in public institutions will significantly enhance their efficiency and ensure they deliver quality services to the public. It is thus targeting public institutions in the water, education, health, humanitarian aid, climate finance governance, the police and extractive sectors. \r\n•\tTo develop an effective legislative and policy environment - TI-Kenya supports the development of quality laws (in respect to integrity, transparency and accountability) and monitors their implementation.\r\n•\tTo strengthen the capacity of the public to recognize and fight corruption - TI-Kenya works towards strengthening the capacity of the public to recognize corrupt practices and take action against such practices. TI-Kenya pays special focus on the youth as a key pillar in enhancing integrity and fighting corruption.\r\n\r\nTI-Kenya’s key approaches include research, partnerships development, capacity building and civic engagement. \r\nThrough the Advocacy and Legal Advisory Centres (ALACs) in Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi, interventions in the education sector in Kisumu, Kwale and Trans Nzoia, and the Humanitarian Aid Integrity Programme implemented in Turkana, Wajir and West Pokot, TI-Kenya has spread its work to the masses, engaging more Kenyans in the fight against corruption and constructively engaged county governments. TI-Kenya has contributed towards the development of key laws necessitated by the Constitution, particularly in regard to integrity provisions. The organization developed amendments to the Leadership and Integrity law, and drafted the Whistleblower Protection Bill. TI-Kenya in addition contributed amendments to the Climate Change Bill, Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Bill, 2014 and the Health Bill among others. TI-Kenya drafted the model county Access to Information and Public Participation bills and engaged four counties in the adoption of these bills. Civic engagement is central in TI-Kenya’s strategy. Through the ALACs, TI-Kenya is empowering Kenyans to actively participate in anti-corruption efforts while providing a vehicle through which they can report and pursue corruption-related complaints, with over 5,000 people given legal advice in the last year. TI-Kenya has to date initiated the formation of 102 integrity clubs to engage students in ethical and integrity learning. \r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": true, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 1948, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1980, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 1804, "latitude": -1.274665, "longitude": 36.829065, "city": "Nairobi", "state": "Ngara", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "KE", "country": 27, "location_target": 1980 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/c0/89/c0893368f522817653401255a55e3cc2.jpg", "latitude": "-1.274665", "longitude": "36.829065", "city": "Nairobi", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2014-03-03T14:53:13+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-09-11T12:29:50.656583+02:00", "name": "Sarakasi Trust", "long_name": "Sarakasi Trust", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://sarakasi.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+254 (0) 20 2694026", "mobile": "+254 (0) 722814133", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "info@sarakasi.co.ke", "description": "Sarakasi Trust responds to the need for the further development and promotion of culture, performing arts and entertainment in East-Africa focusing on acrobatics, dance and music. Combining the power of young entrepreneurs, technology, and innovative community solutions, DOT programs stimulate economic growth and create a framework for community development to secure the future success of youth, with a particular focus on young women.\r\n\r\nDOT operations in Ethiopia were established in 2006. DOT's work toward alleviating poverty and eradicating inequality instills a spirit of development and progress among its young population. DOT provides the training and the skills to allow young Ethiopians to harness their potential and find opportunities to improve their livelihoods.\r\n\r\nDOT Ethiopia Programs\r\nIn Ethiopia, DOT currently implements ReachUp! and StartUp! programs. Carefully selected interns deliver these programs in chosen communities to thousands of keen participants, who are intent on bettering their lives with newly-acquired life skills and technology competencies.\r\n\r\nDOT Ethiopia program reaches out to vulnerable youth and young women looking to find employment and/or private sector opportunities. Up to date, DOT Ethiopia has directly engaged over 9,000 national youth and women with very minimal resources to apply relevant Information Communication Technologies (ICT) to gain business and life skills to improve their access to market and employment opportunities. Since its inception, DOT Ethiopia has established vital partnerships with international organizations, local government offices, education institutions, local community-based organizations (CBO), associations, and microfinance institutions to better serve vulnerable and resource-poor youth. It is through these partnerships that DOT selects its beneficiaries, adding valued services to the services already provided by its partner organizations to their targeted beneficiaries.\r\n\r\nOver the last few years, DOT has learned that its unique methodology is well-suited for local youth as it successfully tailors to their local needs. Youth are an important target group for economic growth as they have an ability to learn quickly and can influence poverty reduction for future generations. Kenya.\r\n\r\nAMREF's Vision lasting health change in Africa:.\r\nAMREF's mission is to ensure that every African can enjoy the right to good health by helping to create vibrant networks of informed communities that work with empowered health care providers in strong health systems. AMREF has 50 years’ experience in health development. In 1957, three surgeons founded the Flying Doctors Service of East Africa, laying the foundation for what is now one of the continent’s leading health development and research organisations. Today, AMREF implements its projects through country programmes in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Southern Sudan and South Africa. Training and consulting support are provided to an additional 30 African countries.\r\n\r\nKnowledge is a core product of AMREF’s activities. AMREF implements projects to learn, and shares this evidence-based knowledge with others to advocate for changes in health policy and practice. Based on the belief that health is a basic human right, AMREF seeks to empower communities to take control of their health and to establish a vibrant and participatory health care system made up of communities, health workers and governments.\r\n\r\nOur Strategic Focus:\r\nAMREF’s strategy seeks to strengthen health systems and to design and enhance interventions that improve people’s access to health through their active participation. Informed by Africa’s health crisis, AMREF’s comparative advantage and five decades’ experience of working with communities and health systems in the region, the AMREF has seven strategic directions : \r\n1.
