BSP-Nepal was established as an NGO in 2003 to take over the implementation responsibility of BSP, which formerly was managed directly by the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV). \r\nSince BSP-Nepal took over the responsibilty of implementing BSP Phase-IV, it very much considers itself responsible for the development of the biogas sector, further strengthening and expanding the sector while at the same time interlinking it with the issues of other development sectors. Further, it has also embarked on promotion of rain waterharvesting systems and linking it with biogas promotion in areas where water is scarce.",

"description": "Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDARC) is an NGO registered at the District Administration Office, Jumla under the Society Registration Act, 1978, and is affiliated to the Social Welfare Council in Kathmandu. It has been in operation in Karnali Zone since 1999 with its central office located in Jumla district with offices in four other districts viz. Kalikot, Humla, Mugu and Dolpa, a Program Support Office at Nepalgunj and a Coordination Office in Kathmandu. \r\n\r\nKarnali Zone is endowed with abundant natural resources like flora, fauna, water, agriculture, horticulture, tourism, mines, minerals, lakes etc. But, unfortunately, these have not been tapped to the least for the benefits of the people for their livelihood improvement due to continued state neglect such as lack of appropriate development policies and commitment for Karnali Zone. As a result, the people of Karnali Zone continued to remain very poor deprived of adequate basic facilities like health, education, food, employment, markets, communication etc. since time immemorial and falls at the bottom of Human Development Index. More so, the caste and gender discrimination in Karnali Zone is comparatively high resulting in lack of access of women, Dalits and marginalized people to resources, opportunities and decision making processes from social, economical and political perspectives. To add more to the woes, the situation in Karnali Zone was further aggravated due to the Maoist movement which culminated into a fierce armed clash with the State resulting in serious human rights violation with a death toll of nearly 700 people, abduction and disappearance of more than 300, torture and detention of more than 800 and displacement of more than 7000 people.",

"description": "The Sector Efficiency Improvement Unit (SEIU) was established in 2008 within the Ministry responsible for the guidance and implementation of the water supply and sanitation programmes of the Government of Nepal. It is currently a unit of the Water and Environment Division of the Ministry of Urban Development.\r\n\r\nIn the last decades Nepal has achieved remarkable progress in water supply coverage and service delivery, while the last ten years has seen an inspiring uptake of sanitation in the country, leading to a rapid increase in coverage. The Nepal census of 2011 measured safe water supply coverage as 85% and sanitation as 61% (status as of June 2011, National Population and Housing Census, Central Bureau of Statistics, November 2012).\r\n\r\nOn the positive side this means that Nepal has already achieved the MDG goals for water supply and sanitation. However, the quality of service and the overall functionality of water supply systems does not meet the standards set by the Government of Nepal. To correct this situation and work towards a cohesive, harmonized water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector, the Government of Nepal in 2008 indicated its intent to move to a sector-wide approach (SWAp). The SWAp is a joint effort of all Government agencies, Development Partners, CSOs and other stakeholders working in WASH. It is coordinated by the Sector Stakeholder Group (SSG).",

"description": "SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is an international development organisation that is dedicated to a society where all people can enjoy the freedom to pursue their own sustainable development. SNV contributes to this by strengthening the capacity of local organisations. SNV delivers advisory services to almost 3,000 clients in more than 30 different countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Balkans. In Asia, SNV provides capacity development services to government, non-government and private sector organisations in Nepal, Vietnam, Bhutan, Laos PDR, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan as well as to a number of regional organisation and networks. SNV seeks to achieve its overall strategic goal of poverty reduction and good governance by focussing on: \r\n\r\n•\tImproving the access, coverage and quality of basic services\r\n•\tIncreasing production, income and employment opportunities for the poor\r\n. \r\n\r\nProgramme priorities in Nepal\r\nSNV began working in Nepal in 1980 and since then our role has evolved from an implementing agency to a capacity strengthening service provider. After years of experience on the field, SNV has acquired extensive technical know-how and an in-depth understanding of the social and cultural undertones of Nepal. However, SNV Nepal does not implement development projects itself; rather it works to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of key local organisations and government bodies. This way, implementation is placed in the hands of local actors. This SNV characteristic contributes to sustainable and nationally owned impact on development leading to lasting poverty reduction, as well as fulfilling the MDGs. \r\nSNV Nepal currently works in five sectors which have been prioritised and aligned with the Government of Nepal’s Development Plan. They include:\r\n\r\nImproving basic services:\r\n•\tWater, Sanitation and Hygiene\r\n•\tRenewable Energy (biogas, improved water mills, others)\r\n\r\nIncreasing production, income and employment opportunities:\r\n•\tSmallholder Cash Crops (orthodox tea, cardamom, apple, others)\r\n•\tForest Products (timber and non-timber forest products, pro-poor carbon funding)\r\n•\tPro-poor Sustainable Tourism\r\n\r\nTotal staff of SNV Nepal is around 65, of which 45 are professional advisers (international and national). In addition, SNV works increasingly through local providers of capacity development services and in partnership with other international organisations like World Tourism Organisation, UNDP, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and Fair Trade Labelling Organisations.\r\n\r\nGeographical Focus\r\n\r\nSNV focuses its work at national and sub-national level. At sub-national level, activities are concentrated in the East (office in Dharan), Central Terai (office in Hetauda) and the West (office in Nepalgunj). Among district levels, SNV is active in: Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Kalikot, Dailekh, Surkhet, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchapur in the West; Taplujung, Ilam, Panchthar, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta Terhathum, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha in the East; and Chitwan, Makwanpur, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari and Dhanusha in the Central Terai region.",

In these endeavours, LWF Nepal cooperates within its networks that include ecumenical, government and non-government, and community-based partner organisations.\r\n\r\nEstablished in 1984, LWF Nepal is a leading international INGO active in both development and humanitarian works. Originally engaged in sectoral development, then community development projects, LWF Nepal made a major switch in 1997 to empowerment projects. It considers right-based approach as the key to development process. \r\n\r\nLWF Nepal designs and implements all development and emergency works following empowerment and human rights-based approach that builds capacity and competence of poor, oppressed and vulnerable people to collectively achieve improvements for their quality and dignified lives. At the one hand, this approach enhances the rights holders in leading the way through proactive interventions while at the other hand it attempts to make state and other stakeholders accountable in their duties. LWF Nepal works through integrated and collaborative approach to reflect the interdependent and multifaceted nature of poverty, exclusion and injustice on the ground. It tries to ensure that the need for action is coherent and inter-connected. The integrated approach includes deliberate efforts to ensure operational collaboration with other actors and thematic programs that become supplementary and complementary to each other. \r\n\r\nLWF Nepal has three strategic thematic areas;\r\n- Emergency Response and Disaster Risk Management (ERDRM): Thematic objective is to see affected people and communities are prepared for, able to respond effectively to, and recover from all types of disasters and complex emergencies.\r\n- Sustainable Livelihoods: Thematic objective is to demonstrate greater number of poor and marginalized achieves sustainable livelihoods. Specifically, the theme aims to improve food securities of poor and marginalized families, women’s access to and control over financial services and family income, health status, including HIV and AIDS prevention and access to and quality of education improved.\r\n- Peace, Reconciliation and Human Rights: Thematic objective is to achieve marginalized people with whom LWF Nepal works benefit from peaceful and harmonious local environment, the full exercise of their human rights as well as participation in decision making at the local, regional and national context. \r\n\r\nIn additional to above-mentioned priority themes, LWF Nepal implements gender equity, environment and Health and HIV and AIDS related works as cross cutting themes across the agency i.e. program, organizational management and individual behaviors.\r\n",

"description": "Started as a humble initiative in 1989 by graduates of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in Chitwan, Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) has now significantly expanded to become one of the largest, fastest growing and respected Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Nepal. Working among underprivileged communities of rural Nepal, RRN has been implementing integrated community development programmes and projects at the grassroots level and policy advocacy, lobbying and networking at local, national, and international levels.\r\n\r\nRRN embraces a two-pronged approach for its development intervention: (i) Working with peasant people by implementing integrated community development projects and action-oriented research focusing on the poorest and most vulnerable people/groups in rural areas and (ii) Policy research, advocacy, campaign and lobbying at the local, national, and international levels on the root causes of poverty; the problems of the resource poor; and social, economic, and cultural rights; and the right to development and environmental degradation.\r\n\r\nRRN is the only national NGO with extended capacity and development outreach that has successfully implemented various result-oriented, rights-based, integrated community development initiatives addressing the frustrated expectations of the poor, marginalised, vulnerable and conflict affected people. RRN has a proven track record of its engagement for economic, social and cultural rights and right to development by implementing pro-people development programmes, facilitating to exercise the community owned and managed integrated approaches, especially in the conflict sensitive societies.\r\n\r\nAll development programmes of RRN focus on the fourfold approach of Rural Reconstruction as the foundation upon which its programme and project activities are based on:\r\n• Education: to combat illiteracy and ignorance and provide exposure to the outside world\r\n• Sustainable livelihoods: to fight poverty and hunger\r\n• Health: to prevent disease and promote rights to health\r\n• Self-Government: to overcome civic inertia through institutional development leading to self-reliance\r\n\r\nSince 1997, RRN has enjoyed the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and is also accredited to the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Currently, it is hosting the Secretariat of Right to Food Network, Secretariat of the South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE) – a South Asia regional alliance of mass based civil society organisations and individuals and the International Secretariat of LDC Watch. They represent several of RRN’s civil society alliances with which RRN is associated to fight against poverty and hunger and for the realization of human rights, social justice, democracy and peace. At National level, RRN is being actively engaged in policy lobby and advocacy campaigns through Right to Food Network (RtF) , Children as Zone of Peace and Child protection (CZOPP), Anti-trafficking Alliance for Women and Children in Nepal (AATWIN), Civil Society Alliance for Nutrtion in Nepal (CSANN) and Disaster Preparedness Network(DPNet) for promoting disaster resilient communities through building and reconstructing the earthquake and disaster resilient infrastructures in its programme and projects. \r\n\r\nOver the past 24 years, RRN has been promoting democratic participation and inclusive self-government, enhancing empowerment of and ownership by the local communities. As one of the vital components of its programmes, RRN encourages and facilitates people to build their own organizations and institutions for their own development. Such people’s groups form the building blocks for bottom up organizational development and promote genuine participation in the development process. Adhering to stated purpose, RRN has established and strengthened thousands of Community Based Organiztions (CBOs) such as Citizen Awareness Centers (CACs), Peace Promotion Centers (PPCs), Users Group, People’s Forum and Community Learning Centers (CLCs).",

"description": "SIL International is a faith-based nonprofit organization committed to serving language communities worldwide as they build capacity for sustainable language development. SIL does this primarily through research, translation, training and materials development. SIL works alongside ethnolinguistic communities and their partners as they discover how language development addresses the challenging areas of their daily lives—social, cultural, political, economic and spiritual.\r\n\r\nFounded in 1934, SIL (originally known as the Summer Institute of Linguistics, Inc.) has grown from a small summer linguistics training program with two students to a staff of over 4,400 coming from over 86 countries. SIL's linguistic investigation exceeds 2,167 languages in over 100 countries. The organization makes its services available to all, without regard to religious belief, political ideology, gender, race or ethnolinguistic background. ",

"description": "Al-Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art in Jerusalem is a non-profit organization that aims to promote, instigate, disseminate and make art. Founded in 1998, Al-Ma’mal serves as an advocate for contemporary art and a catalyst for the realization of art projects. We aspire to create opportunities for experimentation, inspiration and education. We provide workshops for youth in art and we invite artists to Jerusalem to work and present their work. With our five primary programs, the Jerusalem Show, the artist-in-residence, the Workshops, the presentations and encounters, and the Contemporary Art Museum - Palestine (CAMP) project, Al-Ma’mal is determined to make Jerusalem a center for contemporary art activity. The forum we provide is a conduit through which we strive to contribute towards the evolvement of the cultural fabric of society, which gives art more possibilities to become a mode of expression and a way of life.",

"description": "The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) is advancing trade to improve the economic situation and livelihoods of people across the Islamic world. As an autonomous entity within the Islamic Development Bank Group, the ITFC was formed to consolidate the trade finance business that was formerly undertaken by various windows within the IDB Group. The consolidation of the bank’s trade finance activities under a single umbrella increases the efficiency of service delivery by enabling rapid response to customer needs in a market-driven business environment.\r\n \r\nAs a leader in Shari’ah-compliant trade finance, we deploy our expertise and funds to businesses and governments in member countries of the OIC. Our primary focus is encouraging intra-trade among member countries, and we are active in developing and diversifying Islamic finance solutions to further trade. As an international financial service organization, we have a rigorous commitment to work with our clients in proactive, accountable and efficient ways.\r\n \r\nAs a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, we have unique access to governments and work as a facilitator to mobilize private and public resources to achieve a measurable impact on trade and development. The ITFC helps businesses in Islamic countries gain better access to trade finance and provides them with the necessary education and training to compete successfully in the global marketplace. Our efforts are geared to building stronger trade relations between member countries and giving individuals opportunities to grow and prosper.\r\n \r\nRespect for our Islamic heritage is at the heart of everything we do. We have a clear vision: to share and apply our intra trade skills – linking together people, partnerships and possibilities to make strong connections that empower, expand and enrich economies, communities and individuals. We are robust and responsible at our core but balance this with an energy and drive – seeking out new opportunities that enable the Islamic world to prosper.\r\n \r\nThe four cornerstones of our business – our customers, business partners, member countries and our products and services – provide a solid foundation on which we are building a promising and exciting future. Operating to world-class standards, the ITFC promotes the IDB Groups developmental objectives through its two main pillars, Trade Finance and Trade Promotion, to fulfill its brand promise of 'Advancing Trade & Improving Lives'.",

For reasons of comprehensiveness and effectiveness, IOMAC was founded on the concept of integrating relevant management disciplines in mandated fields, as well as integrating relevant national, regional, and global institutional elements in the regional management framework.\r\n\r\nIn furtherance of the primary commitment for the realization of the promised benefits to governments from the new ocean regime, IOMAC has consistently emphasized training as an essential tool in advancing national capabilities in the requisite fields of marine affairs. This would be essential for bringing about a true integration of the ocean sector in national development strategies.",
