Our staffs and volunteers are well equipped with diverse knowledge, skills and attitudes: We have 16 soccer coaches trained under KNVB of Netherlands and Premier Skills of England. The coaches have also been trained in Violence Prevention through football under GIZ of Germany. Our program Coordinators have been exposed and their capacities continuously enhanced through capacity building courses including; Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Early Childhood Development, Guiding and Counseling, Leadership and Development, and financial management\r\n\r\nTYSA has many ways it which it finances its activities and programs. The community where we work has been mobilized to own the programs and therefore offer vital support including human resources, in kind donations and facilities to be used in the projects. TYSA has mobilized large base of local volunteers who give their time back to the community. TYSA has mobilized on line fundraising through Globalgiving, United (streetfootballworld) which supplement community efforts. Fundraising from corporate organizations and foundations also has supplemented community support.\r\n\r\n TYSA collaborates and Networks with several National, Regional and International organization in order to create synergy and experience sharing. School children aged 10-13 are sponsored by friends and family to walk 6 kilometres, while carrying 6 litres of water in a backpack. With two important results: kids learn about global water issues and raise funds to help solve them. Lectures by teachers and external guest on the importance of clean drinking water and proper sanitation ensure the educational nature of the event.\r\n\r\nThe experience helps kids understand what many children their age in developing countries must do every single day, often at the expense of being in school. It is a motivating and effective community event to engage the younger generation on an important topic and teach them that they can make a difference in the lives of others.\r\n\r\nHistory\r\nThe concept of Walking for Water was pioneered in the Netherlands by NGO Aqua for All, and has grown in popularity every year since it started 8 years ago. Results have been impressive — in 2010, 18.000 children from over 400 schools Walked for Water, raising €1.2 million for water projects around the world. On average we use 4000 litres of water a day per person, of which 95% is used in other parts of the world, producing the goods that we buy in our supermarkets. Often these places of production are the same parts of the world in which people are plagued by water scarcity.\r\n\r\nOur activities:\r\n-Starting September of 2012, we will get on our bicycles and cycle from Cape Town to Leiden; a voyage of 20.000 kilometres through some 20 countries. During our trip we will generate media-attention by writing about our experiences of (the effects of) water shortage in the places we come through, and about the shortage that we will undoubtedly experience ourselves, while cycling. This year, CREATA is rolling out Football for WASH (F4WASH) program in 60 primary schools in Migori County – a four year program funded by KNVB and UNICEF. \r\n\r\nSports for Development program started as voluntary process where communities were mobilized though football to address the issues of education in Uriri in Migori County. Through the junior sports clubs created, parents came together to form savings associations. Through this savings scheme parents are able to save money for thier children’s school fees, as the organisation boosts their savings through matching funds. Currently we have turnover of about USD 100 per month. In the first year of operating this fund (2012) CREATA was able to fully sponsor 3 children in high school. We are however hoping that this turnover is going to increase and pay for more students. CREATA has establishing 50 sports clubs and about 5 active parents associations. \r\n\r\nIn our Peace and Governance program, CREATA with the funding of IFP Kenya has recently carried out a baseline survey of the knowledge gaps in the communities about the new constitutions and is currently rolling out community training, awareness and forums on the contents of the new constitution.
