"description": "Born officially in 1947, but with roots that traces back to the revolutionary days, the Philippine Red Cross has truly become the premier humanitarian organization in the country, committed to provide quality life-saving services that protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations.\r\n\r\nThe story of the Philippine Red Cross is the story of men and women from all walks of life who have dedicated themselves to the service of humanity. It is the tale of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who devoted their time and resources to help the poorest of the poor. Professionally trained and truly compassionate, these men and women are ready to lend a helping hand to those in need – whoever, whenever and wherever they may be.\r\n\r\nIn all its 67 years of reputable existence, the Philippine Red Cross has lived through many changes that were intended to help more people. Where it used to be involved only in providing blood and in disaster-related activities, the Philippine Red Cross now focuses on a holistic approach to uplift the condition of the most vulnerable. Where it used to offer short-term palliatives, it now offers a wider array of humanitarian services ranging from preventive medicine to therapeutic counseling, to youth leadership.\r\n\r\nAt present, the Philippine Red Cross provides six major services: Blood Services, Disaster Management Services, Safety Services, Health Services, Social Services, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. All of them embody the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement – humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. These values guide and inspire all Red Cross staff and volunteers, to whom being a Red Crosser is more than just a philosophy but a way of life.\r\n",

It is essential to all human activity and a fundamental driver of socio-economic growth but, as a resource, it is under strain from population growth, development and climate change.\r\n\r\nIt is because water is vital to building healthy communities and developing national economies that HSBC has chosen to invest its time and resources in the HSBC Water Programme. Launched in 2012 and backed by an investment of US$ 100m over five years, the HSBC Water Programme is a partnership with three NGOs – WWF, WaterAid and Earthwatch. The programme will benefit communities in need and provide information for more efficient management of vital freshwater resources.\r\n\r\nIt follows the success of the award winning HSBC Climate Partnership, a five year programme to reduce the impact of climate change on people, forests, freshwater and cities, and accelerate the adoption of low carbon policies.",

"description": "Egerton University is the oldest institution of higher learning in Kenya. It was founded as a Farm School in 1939 by Lord Maurice Egerton of Tatton, a British national who settled in Kenya in the 1920s. In 1950, the School was upgraded to an Agricultural College offering diploma programmes. The Egerton Agricultural College Ordinance was enacted in 1955. In 1979, the Government of Kenya and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded a major expansion of the institution. In 1986, Egerton Agricultural College was gazetted as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi. The following year, 1987, marked the establishment of Egerton University through an Act of Parliament.\r\n\r\nEgerton University has three (3) Campuses and one Campus College. The main Campus is based at Njoro and houses the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Social Sciences, Education and Community Studies, Engineering and Technology, Environment and Resources Development, Science and Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. The Njoro Campus also houses the Board of Undergraduate Studies and Field Attachment, and the Board of Postgraduate Studies. The other Campus is the Nairobi City Campus, offering programmes from the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Commerce, and Education and Community Studies. Kerk in Actie supports projects in all parts of the world and on diverse themes. The Church in Action projects are divided into the following focus areas:\r\n-Poverty in Netherlands\r\n-Refugees and Human trafficking\r\n-Caring Church\r\n-Sustainable Living\r\n-Disaster Relief\r\n-Child Rights \r\nKerk in Actie connect worldwide communities, organizations and people who want to share what is given them. We do this by sharing stories of people and ensuring that people can meet. This can be on a Rural Diaconal day, a conference for deacons in Indonesia or through exchange visits. It supports worldwide communities and people working on signs of hope by strengthening capacity of local churches and partner organizations, such as training or exchange. Parishes and ZWO committees can come for advice, inspiration and materials to use in their own municipality. ",

"description": "The Kumasi Metropolis is located in the middle of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is the second largest city in the country and the administrative capital of Ashanti. It is a fast growing Metropolis with an estimated population of more than 2.7 million people and an annual growth rate of about 2.7%. The Kumasi metropolitan Assembly is a government of Ghana Agency whose mission is in tandem with the prime functions of District Assemblies as stated in the Local Government Act of 1993 (Act 462, section 10) thus the District Assembly ‘shall be responsible for the overall development of the district and shall formulate and execute plans, programmes and strategies for the effective mobilization of the resources necessary for the overall development of the district’.\r\n\r\nThe detailed function of this Assembly is set out in the LI 1614 of 1995. The execution of these functions such as provision of socio-economic services requires efficient and effective mobilization and utilization of material, human and financial resources to improve the lives of the residents of the metropolis. Various departments under the Assembly are given specific responsibilities and the Waste Management Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is responsible for Environmental Sanitation within the metropolis. The services provided constitute an essential factor in contributing to good health, high productivity and the welfare of the people. ",

"description": "The International Fertilizer Development Center is a science-based public international organization working to alleviate global hunger by introducing improved agricultural practices and fertilizer technologies to farmers and by linking farmers to markets.\r\n\r\nIFDC’s mission: to enable smallholder farmers in developing countries to increase agricultural productivity, generate economic growth and practice environmental stewardship by enhancing their ability to manage mineral and organic fertilizer responsibly and participate profitably in input and output markets. In carrying out this mission, IFDC pioneers and catalyses improved plant nutrient performance by developing and disseminating new technologies and practices and also strengthens input and output markets for the benefit of smallholder farmers. Prominent market development methodologies also include creation and strengthening of value chains using the Competitive Agricultural Systems and Enterprises (CASE) methodology, implementation of voucher systems to deliver “smart subsidies” that promote increased use of production inputs distributed through commercial agro-input suppliers and several complex and robust systems of providing market information systems for use by farmers, input suppliers, buyers and business service providers (e.g., AfricaFertilizer.org) \r\n\r\nIFDC has a full-time multidisciplinary headquarters staff of over 90 international professionals (e.g., agronomists, economists, business development specialists, credit specialists, MIS specialists, program management specialists, marketing specialists, financial analysts, soil scientists, chemists, chemical engineers) and a total program staff worldwide of more than 700 to address development issues in a technically sound and holistic fashion. In West Africa, over 250 staff members work in 9 countries in close collaboration with national and regional partners to implement projects funded by USAID and other donors.",

"description": "Centre for Child Rights and Development – CCRD an organisation based at Chennai was established in the year 1998 and is registered under the Indian Trust Act of 1882. The Board of Trustees consists of five members who all have a long experience and expertise on human rights, child rights and sustainable development issues. \r\nAs a partner Organisation of ICCO/ Kerkinactie-The Netherlands since 2002 CCRD has been implementing programmes as a child rights organisation to support NGO’s, Campaigns & Networks of Child Rights and the Government of Tamil Nadu by providing Capacity Enhancement Trainings along with documentation and information dissemination services, including advocacy initiatives for influencing public policy and law including its effective implementation. This support from ICCO/kerkinactie over the years has enabled CCRD to establish itself as a “Resource Centre for Child Rights” at the State level supporting NGO’s working in different districts of Tamil Nadu including various campaigns and networks both at the national level and state level. The funding for the Resource Centre activities all these years has been mainly provided by ICCO/Kerkinactie-The Netherlands. \r\nThe need for CCRD to sustain itself as a “State level Resource Centre on Child Rights” on a long term basis, emanates from the experience of working with different NGO’s across the state, children themselves and specially targeted groups like representatives of local bodies, Anganwadi workers, Teachers, SHG leaders, Students of Social Work & Law, Academicians, Government officials and UN Agencies. This experience over the years has provided adequate intellectual stimulation and reflection opportunities to CCRD to gain a deeper understanding to intensify the existing Campaign, Advocacy and Social Mobilization initiatives in Tamil Nadu to promote and protect children’s rights. Further and most importantly CCRD has the goodwill and support of more than 75 NGOs organisations spread across different districts of Tamil Nadu and good rapport with academic institutions, government agencies, UN organisations like ILO, UNICEF and leadership positions in important campaigns & networks both at the state level and national level to implement programmes towards ensuring the “best interest of children”.
