This is to enable the project adequately address the perennial water crisis experienced in most rural communities in Northern Ghana which led to the spread of the guineaworm disease which became endemic in some Districts. \r\n\r\nThe Project focuses on education of beneficiaries on the essence of good Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices to ensure improvement in the health and livelihoods of the people. Not only to improve school attendance by pupils in these communities, but to enhance the economic activity of their parents for improved educational support from the families.\r\n\r\nA lot of emphasis is also placed on the training of local Artisans (community people) in the construction and maintenance of rainwater harvesting tanks to ensure sustainability and spread of the technology. \r\n\r\nThe coverage area of the project is currently within communities in the Northern Region of Ghana. This is mainly because, due to their guinea worm endemic nature in the past, they were prioritized for the intervention to make good drinking water available to the people to check the spread of the disease. \r\nOur vision is to expand our services to the other regions with perenniel water problems in future. \r\n\r\nPresby Water Project joined the Ghana WASH Alliance in 2009 in order to leverage additional funding and technical assistance to meet this dream.\r\n\r\nOver the past 5 years, a total of 24 institutional and 200 household tanks have been constructed by the project in 7 districts of the Northern Region.\r\n\r\nSimilarly, 150 tanks have been constructed in collaboration with local partners such as Christian Children's Fund in Canada (CCFC), Technoserve and NewEnergy among others. \r\n\r\nThe significance of the introduction and promotion of rainwater harvesting in these communities cannot be over emphasised because of the visible impact it has made in the eradication of the disease from the area. \r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 469, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 522, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 132, "latitude": 9.4075, "longitude": -0.853333, "city": "Tamale", "state": "Norther Region", "address_1": "P.O Box 322TL", "address_2": "", "postcode": "233", "iati_country": "GH", "country": 11, "location_target": 522 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/99/40/994054320926a0cb7b47faf604f3eba5.jpg", "latitude": "9.4075", "longitude": "-0.853333", "city": "Tamale", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-01-13T16:23:20+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:52.129455+01:00", "name": "CLIP", "long_name": "Community Life Improvement Programme", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.ghanavenskabsgrupperne.dk/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+233 372023158", "mobile": "+233 208161295", "fax": "+233-372023158", "contact_person": "Iliasu Adam", "contact_email": "clipgh@gmail.com", "description": "Clip was established in 1997 as an integrated development non-governmental organization (ngo) with focus on the provision of low cost water and sanitation services and livelihood support interventions to deprived rural communities and peri-urban and urban settlements as well.\r\n\r\nClip has a vision of having a \"society free from hunger, poverty and diseases\" by the mission of \"sensitizing and equipping communities with necessary capacity and advocacy skills\"\r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 132, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 5226, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 6359, "latitude": null, "longitude": null, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "GT", "country": null, "location_target": 5226 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/0f/a1/0fa177929f61467b80df7cfba9849506.jpg", "latitude": null, "longitude": null, "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2019-03-08T10:59:54.242985+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2019-03-08T10:59:54.294141+01:00", "name": "WWF Guatemala", "long_name": "WWF Guatemala-Mesoamerica", "language": "en", "organisation_type": null, "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.wwfca.org/en/wwf_guatemala/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "WWF has been active in Central America for more than 20 years. In these endeavours, LWF Nepal cooperates within its networks that include ecumenical, government and non-government, and community-based partner organisations.\r\n\r\nEstablished in 1984, LWF Nepal is a leading international INGO active in both development and humanitarian works. Originally engaged in sectoral development, then community development projects, LWF Nepal made a major switch in 1997 to empowerment projects. It considers right-based approach as the key to development process. \r\n\r\nLWF Nepal designs and implements all development and emergency works following empowerment and human rights-based approach that builds capacity and competence of poor, oppressed and vulnerable people to collectively achieve improvements for their quality and dignified lives. At the one hand, this approach enhances the rights holders in leading the way through proactive interventions while at the other hand it attempts to make state and other stakeholders accountable in their duties. LWF Nepal works through integrated and collaborative approach to reflect the interdependent and multifaceted nature of poverty, exclusion and injustice on the ground. It tries to ensure that the need for action is coherent and inter-connected.
