"description": "Aids Fonds' mission is \"towards a world without AIDS\". Aids Fonds is there for anyone affected by HIV and AIDS, in the Netherlands and beyond. Aids Fonds finances scientific research; provides prevention and treatment for vulnerable groups; and fights for the rights of people with HIV.\r\n\r\nAids Fonds operates both in the Netherlands and internationally. In its home country, Aids Fonds has been involved in prevention, treatment, care and support for people with HIV and risk groups for 25 years. The unique Dutch approach has proved successful: overcoming taboos and doing everything necessary to tackle smaller outbreaks that could potentially combine to form one huge national epidemic. As a result, we use our expertise to fight the global AIDS problem. \r\n\r\nAIDS hits some groups harder than others – often people who are already in vulnerable situations, like men who have sex with men, drug users, sex workers and ethnic minorities. People with HIV are also vulnerable and frequently have to deal with stigma and discrimination. Aids Fonds fights for these people. The right to prevention, treatment, care and support is central here. \r\n",

"description": "Vision\r\nBy 2014, Aguayuda will empower 20,000 people in poor rural communities with the tools and knowledge to improve their quality of life.\r\n\r\nMission\r\nImprove life and health in poor rural communities through clean water and education.\r\n\r\nAguayuda is proud to report that since our inception in 2006, we have installed and repaired windmills, implemented pipelines, installed rain harvesting systems, repaired water storage tanks, built laundry washing stations, maintained a water truck sponsorship program and created four educational manuals on essential health topics. These accomplishments have provided 4,300 people access to clean water on a daily basis. As additional positive results of Aguayuda’s efforts, a local community built nineteen new homes and one of Aguayuda’s water committee members established a non-profit organization that installs, repairs and maintains windmills. Lastly, Aguayuda has non-profit organizations supporting Aguayuda’s mission in Germany and in Colombia.\r\n\r\nThrough these valuable experiences, Aguayuda has developed sustainable and practical solutions. Thanks to the hard work and continued generous support from a diverse group of people and organizations worldwide, Aguayuda continues to improve the health and lives of impoverished people worldwide.",

"description": "In developing countries many people live and work in rural areas. They play a crucial role in solving the problems of hunger and poverty. If they do not manage to organise themselves, they will remain powerless on a political level and will be economically disadvantaged. Agriterra’s work is based on the conviction that if they organise themselves, they will be able to take the responsibility of their development into their own hands. Strong and representative agricultural organisations are indispensable for the promotion of democracy, for a better distribution of income and for the economic development of a country.",

With teaching a staff of over a hundred and a student population of one thousand one hundred and thirty five girls, it is also one of the largest educational institutions in the Maltese Islands. Like all other state secondary level schools in Malta it offers an educational programme which follows the National Minimum Curriculum for Secondary Schools.\r\nThe school (formerly known as St. Mary's Grammar School) is named after Can Gian Piet Agius de Soldanis (1712 - 1770) a pioneer in Maltese linguistics and philosophy. Born in Victoria, Gozo, Agius de Soldanis is mostly remembered as the author of a history book about Gozo: Gozo Antico e Moderno, Sacro e Profano.",

"description": "African Monitor has taken time to understand how the poor currently live and survive, hypothesizing that a better understanding of how communities currently survive will lead to improved understanding of how development actors can work with grassroots communities to strengthen and sustain their livelihoods. We at African Monitor learnt that most of the poor survive by engaging actively and creatively in small income generating activities within the informal sector. They consist of the rural poor primarily engaged in agriculture, the isolated urban poor located in slums and shanty towns, and masses of young people excluded from formal economic activity. Realizing this, the question African Monitor is asking is “how does one design development systems and economies which works for grassroots communities?”\r\n\r\nFrom the perspective of grassroots communities with which African Monitor works, the message is clear – the African Moment will be realized when all of Africa’s citizens are able to effectively access the continent’s resources and economic opportunities so that they can independently generate and sustain their own livelihoods. It is clear that grassroots communities are largely not seeking handouts – but rather seek the same opportunities afforded to others, which make it possible to survive and thrive. To address this current urgent need, African Monitor has adopted an agenda to Unlock the African Moment for grassroots communities, by promoting policies, approaches and practices that increase grassroots’ ‘capability to function’; and those that unlock the grassroots potential to be the drivers of Africa’s economic rejuvenation.",

"description": "Africa Alive! is a youth-serving organization started in 1998 with a vision to build and empower a healthier HIV/AIDS free generation of African youth. The mission of Africa Alive! is to promote positive behavior change among young people through advocacy, empowerment, partnership and resource/community mobilization, in order to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa. \r\n\r\nThe initiatives developed and undertaken by Africa Alive! over the past years have adopted the strategic approach of creating a favorable environment for, and promoting broad based community discourse on healthy and high risk sexual behaviors. The organization’s mandate promotes the full participation of young people at every level of programme implementation. Africa Alive! uses audience and message strategy of edutainment (entertainment education). \r\n\r\nThis approach combines entertainment and education to attract the attention and provide a forum for delivering behaviour change messages. Africa Alive! reaches African youth by tapping into popular, creative channels of communication that appeal to youth in Africa and all over the world such as;\r\n• Radio and TV drama that help educate and promote safe behaviours by depicting and discussing HIV/AIDS prevention and dealing with the decision-making process regarding sexual activity \r\n• Puppetry- using puppetry and folk media as an entertainment and educational tool of reaching the youth with appropriate messages on their reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention, including community sensitization and mobilization on the uptake of other RH services such as STI screening, FP services and VCT.\r\n• Traveling road shows (music performance and quiz) that reach both urban and rural areas, getting youth involved in talking about HIV/AIDS\r\n• Radio and TV variety/talk shows with phone-ins, discussions, and mini-draws addressing HIV/AIDS\r\n• Peer education outreach in schools\r\n• Training and working with young music artiste and club DJs as youth advocates on RH/HIV/AIDS issues and\r\n• Comics with HIV/AIDS prevention messages.\r\n• Sporting events with prevention messages at break, on tickets, and at HIV/AIDS information booths in and around the venue.\r\n",

This flagship project is being supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through the Ministry of Health, who are currently conducting a Randomised Control Trial through IPA (Innovations for Poverty Action) to establish the impact of CHCs on community health. \r\n\r\nOur team is a dedicated group of local development practitioners based out of Zimbabwe and Rwanda, committed to assisting rural and urban communities in developing countries improve their standards of living through safe hygiene, water, sanitation and poverty alleviation, women's empowerment, food security and sustainable livelihoods using Community Health Clubs as a vehicle for change. \r\n\r\nTo this end we provide assistance in all aspects of a CHC programme, including feasibility, design, development of training materials, training of trainers, research, monitoring and evaluation, and are the foremost organization for research, dissemination, advocacy and mentoring in the Community Health Club Approach. \r\n\r\nWe support local and international NGOs, Agencies and particularly strengthening Environmental Health Departments within Ministries of Health in Africa. "description": "The Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC) is a secular body that helps the major religions of the world to develop their own environmental programmes, based on their own core teachings, beliefs and practices. \r\n\r\nWe help the religions link with key environmental organisations – creating powerful alliances between faith communities and conservation groups.\r\n\r\nMore and more secular agencies now recognise the importance of working with religions, and the significant work of faith groups on environmental issues is growing rapidly.\r\n\r\nCurrent programmes range from assisting Christian, Muslim and Hindu groups in sub-Saharan Africa to develop long-term environmental action plans; helping the faiths make their sacred places more sustainable through the world's first Green Pilgrimage Network; working with Daoists and Buddhists in Asia (particularly China) to make their teachings on protecting nature more relevant to today's generations; and harnessing the faiths’ authority to end the illegal wildlife trade.\r\n\r\nARC was founded in 1995 by HRH Prince Philip. We now work with 11 major faiths through the key traditions within each faith. We are not funded by any faith group.\r\n\r\nWhy work with the religions?\r\n\r\n- The faiths are the largest sector of civil society; 85% of the world’s people describe themselves as belonging to a faith.\r\n- The faiths own 7-8% of the habitable land surface of the planet, including 5% of forests worldwide. They also have influence over 15% of forests considered sacred.\r\n- They are involved in more than half of schools worldwide.\r\n- They are among the largest investment blocks on the global stock market.\r\n- They produce more newspapers than the whole of the European Union.\r\n- More important, they are trusted as a source – often the leading source – of wisdom, information and authority in many parts of the world.",

Galati has regional responsibility for the delivery of safe drinking water and the collection, transportation and purification of waste water; Since the end of 2010, Apa-Canal S.A. Galati has been responsible for the water supply and the waste water disposal in the entire county of Galati and this way it is managing regional water companies in the county. Because of national, regional and local ambitions, Apa-Canal S.A. Galati faces the challenge to improve the existing installations for the production and delivery of drinking water and for the collection, transportation and purification of waste water for the purpose of supplying as many inhabitants in the county of Galati as possible with safe and sustainable drinking water and waste water systems. For the realisation of these ambitions, Apa-Canal S.A. Galati is interested in Water Operator Partnership in which knowledge and experience with respect to drinking water and waste water services is acquired and shared. This partnership can relate to technical, administrative, management and governance affairs.",

"description": "Agua Para el Pueblo (APP) is a Honduran NGO that has been working for 20 years developing water treatment projects while performing with a high degree of professionalism, responsibility, and competence.\r\nAPP’s varied contributions in terms of technologies, boarding methodologies, and conceptual definitions have been important in the development of water treatment sub-sectors in Honduras . Currently, APP is involved in a renovation project that will bring great exposure to the new sector-based judicial system (Ley Marco del Sub Sector de Agua y Saneamiento). This new law includes experimenting with new decentralization and municipal participation efforts on a local level to aid construction, administration, and sustainability of water treatment as well as other environmental systems.\r\nAPP’s technical services have been characterized by their reach beyond construction. We also facilitate cooperation in the areas of research, documentation, evaluation, production of executive materials, and inter-institutional & inter-sector coordination to modernize the Honduran sub-sectors.\r\nActing as the pioneer organization of the civil society in search of solution to the demands of water treatment, APP reiterates its compromise of continuous work, focusing particularly on the less-privileged communities of the rural areas and developing urban zones. APP has promised to arduously work to integrate the family unit as a base towards improving the community, utilizing the skills and dexterity of women and children to allow them to become active participants in community solutions. This way, these two groups can alleviate the burden of lacking the water supply they deserve.",

"description": "The Southwest coastal region of Bangladesh is rich in natural resources. The human civilization and culture of this region developed depending on those natural resources. But unfortunately, disasters caused by human interventions and natural calamities have caused severe damages to the environment, ecology, and biodiversity of the region. Thus human lives and livelihoods have become vulnerable.\r\nIt was in such a situation that in 1999 a group of young energetic and socially committed enthusiasts got together and formed ‘AOSED-An Organization for Socio-Economic Development’ for conserving environment, ecology and biodiversity and ensuring people's right of access to natural resource towards alleviation of poverty.\r\n\r\nMission \r\nConserve environment, ecology and biodiversity. Uphold people's rights of access to common and natural resources towards alleviation of poverty, upholding human rights and good governance.\r\n\r\nVision\r\nDevelop a just, prosperous and environment-friendly Society in which there will be no discrimination whatsoever.",
