"description": "GeRT (Geo-ecological Research Team) is an independent research team in the Department of Geography and Environment, Jahangirnagar University, Savar Dhaka, Bangladesh. GeRT conducts multidisciplinary research on environmental problems, WASH, groundwater arsenic poisoning, fluvial morphology, GIS and Remote Sensing, and so on. GeRT has conducted a number of research and consulting works in WASH, climate change, groundwater arsenic poisoning, medical waste management, disaster preparedness and management, and air quality monitoring. GeRT experiences in the WASH sector are mainly focussing on: (a) assessing the performance of urban sanitation; (b) improved sanitation in the slums of Metropolitan Cities; and (c) community of sanitation practice: changing behaviour for better sanitation; and (d) sanitation interventions in urban informal settlements: roles of Government, NGOs and the grassroots.\r\n\r\nGeRT is also conducting research works on the impact of climate change, mainly the global warming and water supply situation, and water scarcity in the southwest Bangladesh. We are hopeful to make the scientific associations between climate change and water demand that will be an added value in the WASH sector. Moreover, we are capable of conducting research on water quality, specifically the groundwater arsenic poisoning, cancer risk assessment and its mitigation.",

"description": "Ghana Young Artisans Movement (GYAM) is a community based organization operating in the Northern Region of Ghana. It is specifically engaged in developmental issues within the rural communities of the Karaga District, the Tamale metropolis, and its peri-urban communities.\r\n\r\nGYAM was founded in 1993 by young graduates from the country’s Polytechnic and Vocational Training institutions in the Northern Region. The formation of the organization resulted from the growing rate of unemployment in the Northern Region among the youth with or without any formal education. GYAM works to alleviate this problem on two fronts, first with our Vocational Skills Training Program which intends to provide self employable skills to socially deprived youth, and secondly through our Community Program which intends to enhance the social well being of deprived communities with social infrastructure development, KVIPS, hand wells, as well as targeting the enhanced social well being of women specifically. Indeed there is a direct correlation between conditions in rural communities- specifically the availability of water and the seeming\r\n subordinate position of women, and those who migrate from these rural areas to the cities only to be forced onto the streets with no means to support themselves.\r\n\r\nGoals of Core Programs\r\nTo encourage a greater quality of live among rural communities in the northern region of Ghana through the provision of vocational skills for unemployed youth. Widen opportunities for communities with greater access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for public schools and the greater community.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n",

"description": "GSB, a small NGO, has originated (2008) from and is based in Bilibiza, one of the larger villages in the project area. The director of the organization is trained in the program of ADPP, which has a project center in Bilibiza in which various affordable water technologies are produced, and where training is given. GSB produces good quality latrine slabs. They have recieved training in making proper latrines and were also trained in carpentry and bricklaying and making cheap gutters from zinc roof plates. GSB also produces cement blocks as a commercial product. During the project Grupo has clearly improved its capacities and they were also noted by the District Government and supported by them.",

In Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as well as in Europe, we work to contribute to sustainable, fair development and alleviate poverty and structural inequalities. Their actions aim to increase the incomes of rural and urban populations, reduce their vulnerability, improve their access to quality infrastructures and services, and develop their ability to be heard. They design and implement field projects, provide expertise, conduct studies, assessments and ap-plied research, and run information and exchange networks. They place considerable emphasis on experience capitalisation and communication for development, in particular through our publications. They also contribute to the elaboration of public policies in the North and in the South.\r\n",

"description": "The aims of GNP+ are to improve the quality of life, through equitable and universal access to services, for all PLHIV. As the global network of people living with HIV, GNP+’s core strategy is to operationalise the GIPA principle at all levels of the global response through involving PLHIV in all aspects of the HIV response and related services. Since the founding of the organisation, GNP+’s core activities have centred on advocacy, information and knowledge management, and network and community strengthening. Advocacy has been the traditional focus of GNP+ and has included a range of strategies such as activism; campaign and \r\npolicy dialogue; programmes; and services. \r\nIn order to improve the advocacy efforts taken, GNP+ has increasingly invested its time and resources into action research and knowledge management to effectively communicate the information and evidence originating from said research. \r\nGNP+, as a network of networks, undertakes its daily work aided by management support from an international Secretariat and strategic guidance and oversight from the international Board. Through this network of networks structure, GNP+ has supported PLHIV to organise themselves to improve their lives and articulate their needs from the community level through international policy forums. GNP+ currently consists of six regional, autonomous PLHIV networks which serve as regional hubs for national and local networks. GNP+ also provides a platform for new and emerging PLHIV networks among specific populations and constituencies and through social media. The Y+ Programme for young PLHIV and the Positive Community, GNP+’s virtual community, are two such examples of key emerging networks and indicate GNP+’s ommitment \r\nto incorporate the many ways that PLHIV network with one another, be it based on geography and/or other associations.",

Specifically, FUNDAUNIBÁN’s integral development programs are based in the Urabá region of the department of Antioquia and the Santa Marta region of the department of Magdalena. The organization’s administrative headquarters is located in the city of Medellin.\r\n\r\nFUNDAUNIBÁN implements activities in the fields of housing and community infrastructure; formal education; environmental sustainability and conservation of natural resources; capacity building to promote civic participation and self-determination; and economic development focused on training, technical assistance, and credit to microenterprises, cooperatives and family businesses.\r\n\r\nFUNDAUNIBÁN's work is guided by the four methodological principles of participation, community-led management, collaboration and inter-institutional coordination. The organization believes in approaching its social, economic, housing and community infrastructure projects through partnerships and values transparency in how it informs internal and external stakeholders about these initiatives’ progress and outcomes. The promotion of education at all levels serves as the foundation for FUNDAUNIBÁN's work in economic and social development and environmental conservation. ",

Y es de promoción social porque, ante situaciones de injusticia y necesidades de sujetos concretos, se compromete en su superación y, desde allí, en la construcción de una sociedad justa, incluyente, fraterna, solidaria, democrática y participativa.\r\n\r\nEnglish translation\r\n\r\nFe y Alegria is a “Movement for Integral Popular Education and Social Development” whose activities are directed to the most impoverished and excluded sectors of the population, in order to empower them in their personal development and their participation in society.\r\n\r\nIt is a movement which unites people in a process of growth, self-criticism and the search for answers to the challenges presented by human needs. It concerns education because it promotes the formation of persons who are conscious of their own potential and of the reality about them; who are free, committed and open to transcendence; and who seek to be protagonists in their own development. It is popular because it sees education as a part of a pedagogical and political proposal for social transformation rooted in the local communities. It is integral because it presupposes that education involves the whole person in all his/her dimensions. And it concerns social development because, in the face of injustice and the needs of concrete individuals, it makes a commitment to confronting them and thereby creating a society which is just, fraternal, democratic and participative.",
