"ndustrial Promotion Services (IPS) is the infrastructure and industrial development arm of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, which in turn is a member of the Aga Khan Development Network.\n\nEstablished in the early 1960s, IPS was created to provide venture capital, technical assistance and management support to encourage and expand private enterprise in the developing world, Through equity investment with partners from both the public and private sectors, IPS identifies projects with strong developmental potential as well as financial viability and works towards building them into companies with lasting institutional strengths with potential for contributing to the long-term development of the national and international communities in which they operate. Its criteria for project design emphasise both technology transfer and local resource use; it seeks to harness both international expertise and local know-how to the task of improving living standards in the developing world.\n\nOver the years, IPS has adjusted its approach to address the development goals of the region through Privatisation, re-orientation from import-substitution towards export promotion, and more recently investment in infrastructure. Currently, IPS within East Africa has over 25 companies across multiple sectors including: industrial printing and packaging, leather tanneries, food and agro-industry, specialized textiles, pharmaceuticals, power and telecommunications and a range of medium sized enterprises.\n\nIPS shareholders in East Africa, currently include institutions such as International Finance Corporation (IFC), Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG), East Africa Development Bank and Jubilee Holdings Ltd.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": false, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 5512, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 4124, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 5511, "latitude": -1.297044, "longitude": 36.782465, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "KE", "country": 27, "location_target": 4124 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/96/71/9671cafec78355b9bec43e58798d0a5a.jpg", "latitude": "-1.297044", "longitude": "36.782465", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2017-03-20T12:10:45.189780+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2017-03-20T12:10:45.889753+01:00", "name": "Creatives Garage", "long_name": "Creatives Garage", "language": "en", "organisation_type": null, "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 70, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.creativesgarage.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "awesome@creativesgarage.org", "description": "It All Begun As …\nA dream to create a space where creatives from all walks of life can come together to network, collaborate and push the boundaries of the creative scene. 4 years later, our dream continues to solidify, partnering with approximately 7,000 (and growing) Creatives who we guide into turning their craft into a source of livelihood.\nTo enable our creatives to earn livelihoods, our methodology is simple… After three years of building cultural networks, engaging in cultural activism and seeking out social innovation, we are now focusing on gaining access to markets for our creatives.\nAnd what does market access look like for us? The Mission of the organization is “To champion, expand and actualize women’s rights”. CREAW has created a niche in championing women rights in Kenya, through the use of bold, innovative and holistic interventions for the realization of women’s rights. \r\n\r\nIn the theory of change, CREAW believes that social transformation can happen through a shifting of social norms and practices that curtail the realization of women’s rights. This is done through legislative and policy advocacy, activism, public awareness, public interest litigation and innovative research. The desired change should be evident in attitudes, knowledge, skills, levels of awareness, behavior and health at personal, family, communal and societal levels. \r\n\r\nIn CREAW’s views, change requires a catalyst. As that catalyst, CREAW sees its role as lying in: Civic engagement, mentorship, dismantling patriarchy, seeking accountability at all levels, awareness raising, working through smart networks and movement building, broadening and deepening knowledge, inclusiveness and constant innovation. CREAW’s values are based on one fundamental principle of “Love’ actualized through it’s values:- Integrity, Professionalism, Passion, Innovativeness and Synergy. CREAW’s programs are thus anchored on enthusiastic lobbying and advocacy to support the interest of the constituents who are the women and children of Kenya. These programs include; Access to Justice for disadvantaged women and children, Governance and Leadership and Sexual and Reproductive health program for women and girls.. \r\n\r\nThus, CREAW programs aim is to:-\r\n1. Create public awareness and sensitize society on women’s rights; to respect, defend and uphold women human rights as well as promote equal rights of women.\r\n2. Promote the opportunities for women in the political and educational fields as well as in industry, business and in their professions.\r\n3. We live by a strong PEN Charter, which champions the ideal of “one humanity living in peace in one world”. Is this not an ideal to uphold for all people on all continents, including Africa?\r\n\r\nWrite! Africa Write! becomes a call for African writers to say what they wish to say and to eschew the divisions of the past in favour of the idea of one humanity living in peace on one continent. Originally PEN stood for Poets, Playwrights, Essayists, Editors, and Novelists. A leading voice of literature, PEN now brings together poets, novelists, essayists, historians, playwrights, critics, translators, editors, journalists and screenwriters in a common concern for the craft and art of writing and a commitment to freedom of expression through the written word. Through its 145 Centres in more than 104 countries, PEN International operates on all six continents. The South African PEN Centre (PEN SA) is a branch of PEN International.\r\n\r\nPEN SA welcomes new members – to qualify for membership you need to be a published writer (one literary work or more published by a recognised publisher) or a person deemed by the committee to be recognised as of sufficient standing. Membership of PEN SA is open to all South Africans, including non-South Africans permanently resident in South Africa. The committee is the final judge of any candidate for election to PEN SA. Candidates for membership are also required to agree to subscribe to the PEN Charter.
