The founding aim of DAM is the social and spiritual development of the human community at large. DAM made paradigm shift in the mid-seventies from welfare to development approach with programme operation primarily in education and human development sectors. Since that time DAM has been diversifying its development interventions with expansion of programme coverage both geographically and in population. With its multifaceted and diversified programmes and activities DAM is now in a very unique position to work with the people, particularly the disadvantaged, with need-based services toward improvement of their living conditions.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission launched first community learning centre, locally known as Gonokendra, in 1987. The centre is meant for lifelong learning and community development. There are more than 100 Gonokendras across the country, of which five are ICT-based. As the objectives of the centres were sharing knowledge and information, they started with traditional tools. Each of the centres is functioning as a community-based information centre of local GO-NGO extension departments. People can come to the centres to read newspapers and exchange experience, learn from success stories, get information about innovations, which can improve their livelihoods. A few centres started using computer for interactive information communication. However, these centres do not have any Internet connection.

Since then, they have expanded in size to reach more than 80 million people in more than 100 countries on five continents. Their mission is to assist impoverished and disadvantaged people overseas, working in the spirit of Catholic Social Teaching to promote the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the human person. Although their mission is rooted in the Catholic faith, their operations serve people based solely on need, regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity. Within the United States, CRS engages Catholics to live their faith in solidarity with the poor and suffering of the world. CRS maintains strict standards of efficiency, accountability and transparency.

ICT has changed and is changing the world. It is one of the main drivers behind globalisation, the creation of economic opportunities and empowerment of individuals. ICT has changed the lives of millions for the better and is an important tool in fighting poverty. Yet, many lack the possibility to profit from the opportunities arising. Realisation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be accelerated by using ICT in a smart and sustainable way. It is against this background that Dutch development organisations and specialized ICT organisations Akvo, Cordaid, Edukans, ICCO and IICD have decided to collaborate by setting-up the Connect4Change Consortium. The consortium works closely together with preferred partner Text to Change.
The Connect4Change Consortium has a vision of a world where people, in particular young people and women and girls, are able to access relevant information and create their own future. Information and communication technologies are a powerful instrument that can speed up the process of development and empowerment of individuals. It helps people to unlock themselves and make use of their own potential.

Our mission is to strengthen people and civil society organisations in the sustainable use of and lobby for ICT to achieve their development goals, in particular in economic development, health and education. Individuals and organisations that represent the poor are key actors in using the possibilities of ICT.</description><notes>Organisation duplicate 2093 deleted</notes><can_create_projects>False</can_create_projects><enforce_program_projects>False</enforce_program_projects><use_project_roles>False</use_project_roles><public_iati_file>True</public_iati_file><enforce_2fa>False</enforce_2fa><can_become_reporting>False</can_become_reporting><iati_prefixes></iati_prefixes><primary_location>140</primary_location><content_owner>272</content_owner><original></original><password_policy></password_policy><codelist></codelist><internal_org_ids></internal_org_ids></list-item><list-item><id>56</id><total_budgets></total_budgets><recipient_org_budgets></recipient_org_budgets><region_budgets></region_budgets><country_budgets></country_budgets><total_expenditures></total_expenditures><documents></documents><locations><list-item><id>139</id><latitude>52.161087</latitude><longitude>4.490153</longitude><city>Leiden</city><state>Zuid Holland</state><address_1>Jan van Houtkade 50</address_1><address_2></address_2><postcode>2311 PE</postcode><iati_country>NL</iati_country><country>3</country><location_target>56</location_target></list-item></locations><logo>https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/40/f4/40f488527b30fc8d61e33cf254fd6bac.jpg</logo><latitude>52.161087</latitude><longitude>4.490153</longitude><city>Leiden</city><current_user_permissions><can_create_iati_export>False</can_create_iati_export><can_edit_iati_export>False</can_edit_iati_export></current_user_permissions><created_at>2008-11-04T10:50:04+01:00</created_at><last_modified_at>2015-02-26T13:56:52.706963+01:00</last_modified_at><name>Connect International</name><long_name>Stichting Connect International</long_name><language>en</language><organisation_type>N</organisation_type><currency>EUR</currency><new_organisation_type>22</new_organisation_type><iati_org_id>NL-KVK-28076857</iati_org_id><url>http://www.connectinternational.nl/</url><facebook></facebook><twitter></twitter><linkedin></linkedin><phone>+31 (0)71 514 1111</phone><mobile></mobile><fax>+31 (0)71-5141111</fax><contact_person>Maria Besteman</contact_person><contact_email>m.besteman@connectinternational.nl</contact_email><description>The organisation:
Via local partners Connect International (CI) supports local communities to develop themselves. To reach this, innovative information systems and technologies are used. These so called Smart tecs are simple and affordable water- and sanitation solutions that in general can be produced locally.
The keyword is reparability, users are able to the maintenance themselves and spareparts are affordable and available. A Smart tec example is the rope pump, an innovative low cost handpump now used by 3 million people. Others examples are Rota sludge and Baptist well drilling, Tube groundwater recharge, Easy drip irrigation, Siphon water filters and VIP latrines.

The partnership:
Connect International supports Akvo with examples of good practices but also informs on failures, this because experiences indicate, “Simple is not easy”. A successful introduction of a simple technology requires, professional guidance. Learning from the past and combining the experiences of the Akvo partners, cost of water and sanitation can be reduced and sustainability increased.</description><notes></notes><can_create_projects>False</can_create_projects><enforce_program_projects>False</enforce_program_projects><use_project_roles>False</use_project_roles><public_iati_file>True</public_iati_file><enforce_2fa>False</enforce_2fa><can_become_reporting>False</can_become_reporting><iati_prefixes></iati_prefixes><primary_location>139</primary_location><content_owner></content_owner><original></original><password_policy></password_policy><codelist></codelist><internal_org_ids></internal_org_ids></list-item><list-item><id>360</id><total_budgets></total_budgets><recipient_org_budgets></recipient_org_budgets><region_budgets></region_budgets><country_budgets></country_budgets><total_expenditures></total_expenditures><documents></documents><locations><list-item><id>138</id><latitude>52.388764</latitude><longitude>4.87979</longitude><city>Amsterdam</city><state></state><address_1>Spaarndammerstraat 39-2</address_1><address_2></address_2><postcode>1013 ST</postcode><iati_country>NL</iati_country><country>3</country><location_target>360</location_target></list-item></locations><logo>https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/84/67/8467b24f662f0a9ef576a70f0b94617e.jpg</logo><latitude>52.388764</latitude><longitude>4.87979</longitude><city>Amsterdam</city><current_user_permissions><can_create_iati_export>False</can_create_iati_export><can_edit_iati_export>False</can_edit_iati_export></current_user_permissions><created_at>2011-05-30T16:52:10+02:00</created_at><last_modified_at>2015-11-10T10:41:11.968702+01:00</last_modified_at><name>CommonSites</name><long_name>CommonSites.net</long_name><language>en</language><organisation_type>N</organisation_type><currency>EUR</currency><new_organisation_type>22</new_organisation_type><iati_org_id>NL-KVK-56638434</iati_org_id><url>http://www.commonsites.net/</url><facebook></facebook><twitter></twitter><linkedin></linkedin><phone></phone><mobile></mobile><fax></fax><contact_person>Sjoerd van der Linde</contact_person><contact_email>info@commonsites.net</contact_email><description>CommonSites is an international initiative that provides a unique web-based platform for the heritage sector. The objective is to assist in improving local knowledge and putting local talent to use by offering cost-efficient IT-solutions to projects in developing countries.

In the industrialised world, computers are replaced every three to four years, meaning that companies are increasingly looking for sustainable ways to replace their used devices. At the same time, millions of computers are needed in developing countries.

It is here that Close the Gap creates win-win situations. By supplying developing countries with high-quality refurbished IT equipment that is donated by Western countries, Close the Gap creates practical, social and sustainable solutions that enable people to bring about a true change in their lives through the use of IT.

Since its founding in 2003, Close the Gap has managed to reinstall tens of thousands of PCs donated by companies in Europe, offering local communities and individuals access to information. With the right tools, people in developing countries can significantly improve the quality of their lives. Access to communication technologies is predominantly vital in enabling them to reach this objective. Computers are used for a large variety of applications and have consequently become an essential part of the personal, educational and professional world. One tends to forget that one of the basic assets provided by computers is access to all kinds of information. Hence, the difference that access to information can make to a person’s life is immeasurable.

When donations are made, Close the Gap’s logistic partner collects the IT equipment. It is then checked by professionals, repaired if needed and reconfigured before it is sent off to a designated project.

Close the Gap is mostly active in Africa, but also in other developing countries in South-East Asia and South-America. The organisation mainly supports projects in the socio-educational sector, such as schools, universities, hospitals and other programmes focusing on the improvement of educational and information facilities.

However diverse the projects may be, they all have one common denominator: to focus on advancing both the individual and the community within a spirit of social education.</description><notes></notes><can_create_projects>False</can_create_projects><enforce_program_projects>False</enforce_program_projects><use_project_roles>False</use_project_roles><public_iati_file>True</public_iati_file><enforce_2fa>False</enforce_2fa><can_become_reporting>False</can_become_reporting><iati_prefixes></iati_prefixes><primary_location>133</primary_location><content_owner></content_owner><original></original><password_policy></password_policy><codelist></codelist><internal_org_ids></internal_org_ids></list-item><list-item><id>522</id><total_budgets></total_budgets><recipient_org_budgets></recipient_org_budgets><region_budgets></region_budgets><country_budgets></country_budgets><total_expenditures></total_expenditures><documents></documents><locations><list-item><id>132</id><latitude>9.4075</latitude><longitude>-0.853333</longitude><city>Tamale</city><state>Norther Region</state><address_1>P.O Box 322TL</address_1><address_2></address_2><postcode>233</postcode><iati_country>GH</iati_country><country>11</country><location_target>522</location_target></list-item></locations><logo>https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/99/40/994054320926a0cb7b47faf604f3eba5.jpg</logo><latitude>9.4075</latitude><longitude>-0.853333</longitude><city>Tamale</city><current_user_permissions><can_create_iati_export>False</can_create_iati_export><can_edit_iati_export>False</can_edit_iati_export></current_user_permissions><created_at>2012-01-13T16:23:20+01:00</created_at><last_modified_at>2015-02-26T13:56:52.129455+01:00</last_modified_at><name>CLIP</name><long_name>Community Life Improvement Programme</long_name><language>en</language><organisation_type>N</organisation_type><currency>EUR</currency><new_organisation_type>22</new_organisation_type><iati_org_id></iati_org_id><url>http://www.ghanavenskabsgrupperne.dk/</url><facebook></facebook><twitter></twitter><linkedin></linkedin><phone>+233 372023158</phone><mobile>+233 208161295</mobile><fax>+233-372023158</fax><contact_person>Iliasu Adam</contact_person><contact_email>clipgh@gmail.com</contact_email><description>Clip was established in 1997 as an integrated development non-governmental organization (ngo) with focus on the provision of low cost water and sanitation services and livelihood support interventions to deprived rural communities and peri-urban and urban settlements as well.

For over 3 years, the CILSJ has been working with municipalities, Rio de Janeiro State and Federal governments, companies and local communities to ensure the conservation, restoration and responsible management of our water, land, sea and biodiversity through programs that balance human, environmental and economic needs. CILSJ is comitted to improving environment for the present and next generations.

Similarly to Conservation Autorities in Canada and USA, our organization operates under the direction of a board comprised of local municipalities, companies, NGOs (Non Governamental Organizations) and the Environmental State Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro representatives. There are currently 12 municipalities (Armação dos Búzios, Araruama, Arraial do Cabo, Cabo Frio, Cachoeiras de Macacú, Casimiro de Abreu, Iguaba Grande, Rio Bonito, Rio das Ostras, São Pedro da Aldeia, Saquarema and Silva Jardim), 5 companies and more than fifty NGOs which are part of our organization. The NGOs have two representatives on the Board.

The CILSJ is not a regulatory or licensing organization, and has no legal or policy basis to regulate resource use in any of the jurisdictions. However, the CILSJ may influence regulatory decisions in a number of ways:

· By providing factual material, such as aquatic ecosystem reports, to inform development decision makers.
· By participating in and influencing pre or post regulatory processes, such as planning, regional or environmental impact assessment processes;
· Managing the water resources in a manner consistent with the maintenance of the ecological integrity of the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems;
· Managing the use of the water resources in a sustainable manner for present and future generations;
· Providing for early and effective consultation, notification and sharing of information on developments and activities that might affect the ecological integrity of the aquatic ecosystem;</description><notes></notes><can_create_projects>False</can_create_projects><enforce_program_projects>False</enforce_program_projects><use_project_roles>False</use_project_roles><public_iati_file>True</public_iati_file><enforce_2fa>False</enforce_2fa><can_become_reporting>False</can_become_reporting><iati_prefixes></iati_prefixes><primary_location>130</primary_location><content_owner></content_owner><original></original><password_policy></password_policy><codelist></codelist><internal_org_ids></internal_org_ids></list-item><list-item><id>727</id><total_budgets></total_budgets><recipient_org_budgets></recipient_org_budgets><region_budgets></region_budgets><country_budgets></country_budgets><total_expenditures></total_expenditures><documents></documents><locations><list-item><id>129</id><latitude>0.29863</latitude><longitude>32.603436</longitude><city>Kampala</city><state>Kampala</state><address_1>P.O Box 692</address_1><address_2>Plot 2809 Tank hill road Muyenga</address_2><postcode></postcode><iati_country>UG</iati_country><country>21</country><location_target>727</location_target></list-item></locations><logo>https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/d2/96/d296be9c1c038b0ecb51fc4eec9a1549.jpg</logo><latitude>0.29863</latitude><longitude>32.603436</longitude><city>Kampala</city><current_user_permissions><can_create_iati_export>False</can_create_iati_export><can_edit_iati_export>False</can_edit_iati_export></current_user_permissions><created_at>2012-07-16T14:35:15+02:00</created_at><last_modified_at>2016-03-08T09:27:00.243578+01:00</last_modified_at><name>CIDI</name><long_name>CIDI</long_name><language>en</language><organisation_type>N</organisation_type><currency>EUR</currency><new_organisation_type>22</new_organisation_type><iati_org_id></iati_org_id><url>http://cidiuganda.org/</url><facebook></facebook><twitter></twitter><linkedin></linkedin><phone>256414510358</phone><mobile></mobile><fax></fax><contact_person>Rose Mwambazi </contact_person><contact_email>cidi@cidiuganda.com</contact_email><description>Vision
