Since its inception, the Foundation has significantly enhanced the coordination of CSR interventions for Equity Group. The Foundation’s aim is to catalyze the socio-economic prosperity of the people of Africa by giving opportunity to the millions at the bottom of the pyramid to be incorporated into the modern economy.\r\n\r\nHaving demonstrated scalability, impact and high return on investment, the Foundation has started forging partnerships with development organizations who wish to do good to society without duplicating effort and/or investing in infrastructure. This innovative and creative vehicle has fundamentally transformed the concept of philanthropy and corporate social responsibility.\r\n\r\nWhile Equity Group Foundation champions the social economic transformation of the people of Africa and seeks partnerships along six cluster thematic areas, Equity Bank provides the infrastructure of delivery hence reducing the operational costs for the Its mission is to improve capacities of local authorities, NGOs and CBOs, governmental organisations and other stakeholders regarding urban agriculture.\r\n\r\nIncreasingly people live in cities, and urban poverty and urban food insecurity are rapidly rising. Growing food, herbs and medicinal plants, and raising animals in vacant open spaces in and around the cities, provides the urban poor with nutritious food and an important source of income. Urban farming also contributes to other urban issues such as social inclusion, urban water management, recycling of urban wastes, urban greening, recreation and ecological education.\r\n\r\nThe staff of ETC Urban Agriculture consists of experienced professionals of various disciplines, programme assistants, as well as a unit secretary and financial officer. This team is assisted on demand by specialists involved in other ETC units. ETC Urban Agriculture advisors have long term experience in various aspects of sustainable agricultural development in both the urban and rural context in a large number of countries.\r\n\r\nExpertise & Services\r\n\r\nETC-Urban Agriculture organises its team and work around the following main themes:\r\n\r\n1. Urban agriculture, poverty alleviation and local economic development.\r\n\r\nUrban agriculture can play an important role as a complementary strategy for poverty alleviation, social inclusion and local economic development. ETC-UA supports the transition from subsistence to market oriented farming by assisting in technology development, improved farm management, strengthening of farmers organisations, supporting micro-enterprises involved in production of compost and other inputs, as well as in food processing, market analysis and development of direct producer-consumer linkages, etcetera. Special attention is given to women and unemployed youth.\r\n\r\n2. Urban agriculture, food security and nutrition.\r\n\r\nUrban agriculture can make important contributions to improvement of food security and nutrition of the urban poor by production for (home) consumption and local exchange or sales of surpluses which substantially enhances access of poor urban families to fresh foods at reasonable prices and reduces food costs allowing to save income for other essentials (medicines, school fees).\r\nETA-UA assists in designing strategies to enhance security of land use, introduction of low cost micro-farming technologies and nutritional education. Special attention is given to disadvantaged groups and families affected by HIV-Aids.\r\n\r\n3. Reuse of urban organic wastes and waste water in urban agriculture\r\n\r\nReuse of urban organic wastes and wastewater in agriculture under proper management, converts wastes into valuable resources (nutrients and water) for farmers, while reducing negative impact on health and environment. ETC-UA supports this by documenting and dissemination of best practices, by assisting in the set up of household and community based waste collection and compost production units, and by assisting in the design and implementation of municipal strategies that reduce the health and environmental risks associated with reuse of wastewater while enhancing its socio-economic benefits.\r\n\r\n4. Integration of urban agriculture in urban planning and design\r\n\r\nIntegration of agriculture in the urban planning system is an important precondition for the development of sustainable and safe urban agriculture for income and food as well as for urban greening, micro-climate regulation, landscape and biodiversity management, creation of buffer zones and land reserves, water management and recreational options for the citizens (agro-tourism). ETC-UA supports inclusion of urban agriculture in urban land use planning and the design of new neighbourhoods or slum development projects. Promotion of multi-functional land use is often an important focus.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 211, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 4734, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/93/2b/932bbf9f828e186c4f6d5a23c37e77c4.jpg", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2018-02-09T14:18:28.828508+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2018-02-09T14:18:28.846742+01:00", "name": "NMA", "long_name": "Ethiopia National Meteorology Agency", "language": "en", "organisation_type": null, "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 10, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.ethiomet.gov.et/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": null, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2575, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 3218, "latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 0.0, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "BE", "country": 71, "location_target": 2575 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/c1/53/c153b59b935d264bd63a92f669ea653a.jpg", "latitude": "0.0", "longitude": "0.0", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2015-01-22T09:49:42.474076+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2016-03-08T09:26:57.573554+01:00", "name": "EURAC", "long_name": "EURAC", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": "", "url": "http://www.eurac-network.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 3218, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1298, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 1769, "latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 0.0, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "NL", "country": 3, "location_target": 1298 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/89/a4/89a4ab81a77dc89b156ad53488bc993c.jpg", "latitude": "0.0", "longitude": "0.0", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2013-06-24T00:00:00+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2016-03-08T09:28:54.612459+01:00", "name": "Euretco", "long_name": "Euretco", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "C", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 70, "iati_org_id": "", "url": "http://www.euretco.com/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "Euretco is the largest retail service organisation in The Netherlands and collaborates with around 2,400 entrepreneurs and franchises. We can help by supporting policies and political commitments that promote food security and good nutrition and by making sure that up-to-date information about hunger and malnutrition challenges and solutions is available and accessible.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": true, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 5365, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2789, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 4334, "latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 0.0, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "IT", "country": 49, "location_target": 2789 } ], "logo": null, "latitude": "0.0", "longitude": "0.0", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2015-05-06T10:22:16.757210+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-05-06T10:22:16.785091+02:00", "name": "Food and Agriculture Orga", "long_name": "Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 21, "iati_org_id": "", "url": "http://www.fao.org/home/en/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 4334, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 4118, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 5505, "latitude": -1.293358, "longitude": 36.79135, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "KE", "country": 27, "location_target": 4118 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/36/c9/36c9b5c4cd87fafac3031985ea89a45d.jpg", "latitude": "-1.293358", "longitude": "36.79135", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2017-03-17T11:06:19.659335+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2017-03-17T11:06:20.044858+01:00", "name": "Farm Africa", "long_name": "Farm Africa", "language": "en", "organisation_type": null, "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 21, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.farmafrica.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "Farming doesn’t just provide food, but income and prosperity.
