It is specifically engaged in developmental issues within the rural communities of the Karaga District, the Tamale metropolis, and its peri-urban communities.\r\n\r\nGYAM was founded in 1993 by young graduates from the country’s Polytechnic and Vocational Training institutions in the Northern Region. The formation of the organization resulted from the growing rate of unemployment in the Northern Region among the youth with or without any formal education. GYAM works to alleviate this problem on two fronts, first with our Vocational Skills Training Program which intends to provide self employable skills to socially deprived youth, and secondly through our Community Program which intends to enhance the social well being of deprived communities with social infrastructure development, KVIPS, hand wells, as well as targeting the enhanced social well being of women specifically. Indeed there is a direct correlation between conditions in rural communities- specifically the availability of water and the seeming\r\n subordinate position of women, and those who migrate from these rural areas to the cities only to be forced onto the streets with no means to support themselves.\r\n\r\nGoals of Core Programs\r\nTo encourage a greater quality of live among rural communities in the northern region of Ghana through the provision of vocational skills for unemployed youth. Widen opportunities for communities with greater access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for public schools and the greater community.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 267, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 266, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 268, "latitude": 45.078748, "longitude": -93.046153, "city": "White Bear Lake", "state": "Minnesota", "address_1": "1310 Highway 96 ", "address_2": "East Suite 235", "postcode": "55110", "iati_country": "US", "country": 5, "location_target": 266 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/81/4e/814e5b88d66be09490c2a782a33f3efa.jpg", "latitude": "45.078748", "longitude": "-93.046153", "city": "White Bear Lake", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2010-11-11T12:25:08+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:55.345432+01:00", "name": "H2O for Life", "long_name": "H2O for Life", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.h2oforlifeschools.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+1-(651)-756-7577", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "shall@h2oforlifeschools.org", "description": "H2O for Life:\r\n\r\n- supports WASH (WAter, Sanitation, and Hygiene education) projects in needy schools around the world,\r\nis a non-profit 501(c)3 organization,\r\n- provides global partnerships for schools in the U.S. to participate in service learning projects,\r\n- gives students the opportunity to become educated about the global water crisis, and about a partner community in another part of the world,\r\n- supports only projects planned and implemented by established non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local communities,\r\n- has an excellent track-record of success—see our successful 2006-7 and 2007-8 partnerships here [link to list of 2006-7 and 2007-8 school partnerships]—and\r\n- helps U.S. teachers and students make a difference one school at a time.\r\n- Non-governmental organizations implement WASH projects in-country and contribute 50% of the funds needed for each project, matching and magnifying the good from every school contribution.\r\n\r\nThe mission of H2O for Life is to provide funds to support projects in developing countries designed to make water available and sustainable for schools in need of fresh water, sanitation, and hygiene education—the “WASH” initiative. Through service learning projects, U.S. schools raise funds necessary to complete water projects, thereby bringing water to their partner schools. These funds are matched dollar for dollar, magnifying the good done with every contribution.\r\n\r\nAnother outcome, as important as water funding to our mission, is for youth in U.S. schools to learn about and become invested in the global community, and to become activists for positive change.\r\n\r\nThe sustainability of these and other service projects depends on the next generation’s involvement. We need to provide opportunities for students to make a difference, and H2O for Life exists to do just that.\r\n\r\nGlobal projects are identified and facilitated through cooperating Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s). To date, Save the Children, Water Centric, Student Movement for Real Change, El Porvenir, and Catholic Relief Service have partnered with H20 for Life and match funds raised by individual schools.\r\n\r\nUnited States schools select a project and then work during the school year to reach their fundraising goals. During the year, teachers and students may choose to communicate with students in the project community via letters or pictures.\r\n\r\nIf you’re a U.S. teacher, school administrator, or engaged parent and think students in your community might be able to help, learn how to Partner With a School.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 268, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 492, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 269, "latitude": 53.255951, "longitude": 6.587553, "city": "Zuidwolde", "state": "Groningen", "address_1": "WS Boterdiep OZ 17", "address_2": "", "postcode": "9785 AG", "iati_country": "NL", "country": 3, "location_target": 492 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/3b/41/3b41aa5b85129f8b6c68a5e2954bf309.jpg", "latitude": "53.255951", "longitude": "6.587553", "city": "Zuidwolde", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2011-12-19T10:15:56+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:55.359191+01:00", "name": "HADEFO", "long_name": "Hope Again Development Foundation", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.hadefo.info/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+31(0)50-3012195", "mobile": "+31(0)657660414", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Amy Dekker", "contact_email": "amydekker@hetnet.nl", "description": "To organize good qualified education for children and adults; especially for girls and woman. Like many others working in the informal economy, they suffer from invisibility, poor working and living conditions, lack of resources and social protection.\r\n\r\nPambansang Tagapag-ugnay ng mga Manggagawa sa Bahay (PATAMABA) Inc. or the National Network of Homeworkers, was founded in May 1989 with the objective of creating, strengthening, consolidating and expanding the national network of homebased workers and providing support services for their personal, social and economic well-being.\r\n\r\nPATAMABA helps homebased workers form self-sustaining groups at the grassroots level. At the policy level, it acta to raise awareness about homebased workers and to bring about the necessary policy changes for the benefit of this informal sector.\r\n\r\nPATAMABA has a total membership of about 14,138, 98 percent of whom are women as end of 2003 in its formal registry. Most of these women work in garments, footwear, bamboo, weaving, toy-making, food processing, handicraft and other cottage industries. In addition, the PATAMABA youth sector has been actively recruiting from among their ranks, and has reported a membership of at least 2,000.\r\n\r\nPATAMABA’s key initiatives include education and training, socio-economic assistance, networking and advocacy, social protection and the empowerment of women.\r\n\r\nHistory\r\n\r\nIt all started in 1975, I when a group of rural women founded the Association of the New Filipina (known as KaBaPa), to work for equality, development and peace as laid down by the United Nations in its declaration of International Women’s Year.\r\n\r\nIn the 1980s, community organizers from the KaBaPa together with researchers from the University of the Philippines (UP) came to know that thousands of women, even in the remotest of villages, did farmed-out work for exporters and local manufacturers. These women embroidered dresses and tablecloths, and sewed children’s clothes and schoolbags. They were also weavers, food producers/processors, and makers of handicrafts, footwear, novelty items, fashion accessories and furniture.\r\n\r\nCommon features observed in this group of women homeworkers were low piece rates, poor working conditions, lack of access to resources and to social protection, lack of proper organization and an absence of awareness about their rights as workers and women. Many of them were being exploited by profit-hungry middlemen and exporters; their work was enriching many foreign importers and Filipino traders. For example, some of them who made baby dresses earned a measly ten US cents for a product sold for 15 US dollars at US department stores.\r\n\r\nThe KaBaPa realized that it had a large number of homeworkers among its ranks. When the International Labour Organization (ILO) asked KABAPA leaders to work on a project to organize homebased workers in 1988, they quickly consented.\r\n\r\nDuring a meeting convened by KABAPA of 29 homebased worker-leaders from nine provinces, it became evident that homebased work was a widespread phenomenon in the Philippines and that they all shared similar circumstances and needs. They also realized that they were in many ways ‘invisible’ to the rest of society, especially policy-makers, and that if they wanted to better their lives, they would have to organize themselves at a national level. With this realization, Pambansang Tagapag-ugnay ng mga Manggagawa sa Bahay (PATAMABA), the National Network of Homeworkers, was born.\r\n\r\nPATAMABA was first formed as a committee within KaBaPa. Later, in May 1989, PATAMABA Inc. became independent. It, however, continues to work in close collaboration with KaBaPa.\r\n\r\nThe (ILO), together with KaBaPa, the University of the Philippines, and the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE), launched Program HOPE aimed at organizing and assisting homeworkers in the Philippines. A systematic awareness raising campaign for homeworkers, with special emphasis on women, was set in motion.\r\n\r\nFor the women themselves, this was the first time they actually began to think of themselves as workers rather than just rural women/housewives with special needs and rights. They saw themselves contributing so much to the national economy yet remained neglected, unrecognized, and invisible in national statistics.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 285, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 646, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 286, "latitude": 1.383333, "longitude": 31.9, "city": "Kisozi", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "UG", "country": 21, "location_target": 646 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/1f/00/1f00a886829402277439a99c4d8aa74d.jpg", "latitude": "1.383333", "longitude": "31.9", "city": "Kisozi", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-04-16T11:49:44+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:55.776129+01:00", "name": "Hope Alive Uganda", "long_name": "Hope Alive Uganda", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.hopealiveuganda.org/nl", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+256434660458", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Eddy Kiirya Mpoya", "contact_email": "info@hopealiveuganda.org", "description": "Hope Alive Uganda is a non-governmental organization started in 2005 and registered officially in Uganda in 2008.
