The goal of Careermate is to usher more people into vocations or career fields generally considered as less prestigious but were employment or livelihood opportunities abound. E.g. Agriculture or Arts, Entertainment.\r\n\r\nOur target is young people in two transitional stages of our education system i.e. senior secondary school and vocational training, where progression to higher level education is severely limited.\r\n\r\nCareermate has three strategic programme components;\r\n\r\n1. Career guidance - this is concerned with developing career guidance materials and sharing them with youths. The unique feature of this component is the way it uses ICT to enhance the appeal of career information and making it more interactive and interesting to young people. Here we use videos, high quality graphics as well as interactive content to fully engage the youths. The content is characterized by inspirational interviews and documentation of tasks performed in a particular job.\r\n\r\n2. Sharing and Networking - the key feature of this component is activities to link youths to experts, knowledge and other leveraging initiatives. In this component we offer young people access to our digital library as well as conduct face-face career talks in training centers. During this time we share the career content we generate as well those our partners send us. Starting next year 2012, Careermate will embark on a programme to assist schools especially those with problems accessing Internet, to create more digital educational libraries of DVDs.\r\n\r\nAnother interesting feature of this component is the learning exchange. Here we are trying to facilitate learning exchange programmes with other youths within and outside the country.\r\n\r\n3. Talent Development ; this component is concerned with assisting youths with talents to further develop their talents by offering them basic tools, facilities to practice. For instance, we offer our members access to music instruments to learn how to use them, or coaching and validation/contests on public speaking.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 103, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 683, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 104, "latitude": 2.77932, "longitude": 32.284828, "city": "Gulu", "state": "", "address_1": "PO Box 389 ", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "UG", "country": 21, "location_target": 683 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/42/0f/420fa028b081896cd143e86c4905b088.jpg", "latitude": "2.77932", "longitude": "32.284828", "city": "Gulu", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-05-30T13:49:36+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2016-03-08T09:26:53.094809+01:00", "name": "Caritas Gulu", "long_name": "Caritas Gulu", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 23, "iati_org_id": "", "url": "http://www.caritasgulu.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+256(0)471-432-770", "mobile": "+256 (0)772-309-607", "fax": "", "contact_person": "John Bosco Komakech Aludi", "contact_email": "aludikjb@yahoo.co.uk", "description": "Caritas Gulu Archdiocese is the Emergency Relief and Development wing of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Gulu, Northern Uganda. From the onset, it should be acknowledged, therefore, that our Church owes a lot to the Church of Scotland from who we have drawn our historical legacy as well as administrative identity. \r\n\r\nResponding to a divine call and influenced by the love of Christ and His grace, these Scottish pioneers approached evangelism holistically. The passionate belief was that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ would be void in the absence of a deliberate approach towards providing for people’s social needs simultaneously. This is why, besides the Bible and training of church ministers, they came to establish and operate hospitals, schools and colleges as well as providing safe water and electricity to mention but only some of the services. \r\n\r\nThe Church has over the years maintained that approach with a lot happening around propagation of the Gospel, many ministers being trained and a number of congregations and departments being established among other developmental programmes and projects. All this is meant to cater for the social-economic needs of the church’s population besides the preaching of the Good News. The Health Commission operates within the field of HBC in terms of HIV prevention, care and support interventions based on the principles developed under the umbrella of ECM Home Based Care projects. Its vision is to have a healthy Society that is able to access improved and affordable Health Services. It identifies itself by a mission which is continuation of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ through promotion of human life by coordinating and providing affordable Health Services to rural and urban areas in Malawi. As such Health Commission is also responsible for facilitating and monitoring the quality of Health services in the diocese. The Commission works with Community Based Organisations (CBO) to reach out to the needy people in various communities within its parishes. Consequently, the implementation of interventions in HBC depends greatly on the role played by community volunteers that are closely working with the immediate caregivers. Therefore, the support the church is providing to the community groups has helped and encouraged communities to respond positively in caring and supporting the HBC clients within the respective communities. During the last three years with support from Cordaid, the Commission has a record of success stories in issues of mobilisation of community volunteers such that it has created a good network of volunteers and the health facilities within its catchment areas. The objective is to assist in improving local knowledge and putting local talent to use by offering cost-efficient IT-solutions to projects in developing countries.\r\n\r\nIn the industrialised world, computers are replaced every three to four years, meaning that companies are increasingly looking for sustainable ways to replace their used devices. At the same time, millions of computers are needed in developing countries.\r\n\r\nIt is here that Close the Gap creates win-win situations. By supplying developing countries with high-quality refurbished IT equipment that is donated by Western countries, Close the Gap creates practical, social and sustainable solutions that enable people to bring about a true change in their lives through the use of IT.\r\n\r\nSince its founding in 2003, Close the Gap has managed to reinstall tens of thousands of PCs donated by companies in Europe, offering local communities and individuals access to information. With the right tools, people in developing countries can significantly improve the quality of their lives. Access to communication technologies is predominantly vital in enabling them to reach this objective. Computers are used for a large variety of applications and have consequently become an essential part of the personal, educational and professional world. One tends to forget that one of the basic assets provided by computers is access to all kinds of information. Hence, the difference that access to information can make to a person’s life is immeasurable.\r\n\r\nWhen donations are made, Close the Gap’s logistic partner collects the IT equipment. It is then checked by professionals, repaired if needed and reconfigured before it is sent off to a designated project.\r\n\r\nClose the Gap is mostly active in Africa, but also in other developing countries in South-East Asia and South-America. The organisation mainly supports projects in the socio-educational sector, such as schools, universities, hospitals and other programmes focusing on the improvement of educational and information facilities.\r\n\r\nHowever diverse the projects may be, they all have one common denominator: to focus on advancing both the individual and the community within a spirit of social education.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 133, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] } ] }{ "count": 6073, "next": "
