"description": "The Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven is one of the first public museums for contemporary art to be established in Europe. The museum’s collection of around 2700 works of art includes key works and archives by Lissitzky, Picasso, Kokoschka, Chagall, Beuys, McCarthy, Daniëls and Körmeling. The museum has an experimental approach towards art’s role in society. \r\n\r\n'We challenge ourselves and our visitors to think about art and its place in the world, covering a range of subjects, including the role of the collection as a cultural 'memory' and the museum as a public site.' International collaboration and exchange have made the Van Abbemuseum a place for creative cross-fertilisation and a source of surprise, inspiration and imagination for its visitors and participants.",

"description": "The Van Eyck is a post academic institute that has turned into an international multiform organization for fine art, design, and reflection. We are a multidisciplinary institute that furthers experiment, research, study, production and exchange. In our institute promising artists, designers, thinkers and curators are given the time and space that is needed to develop their talents, to discover as yet unexplored perspectives and delve into deeper layers of their selves.\r\nAs of 2013 we have embarked on a new course, guided by our institutional compass. The rose of the compass is the comprehensive idea of porosity and fluidity; the four compass points encompass openness as well as connection, self-guidance as well as cooperation. In real terms, this means that the Van Eyck is a welcoming meeting-place where fluid connections exist between institute and surrounding world, between the various art disciplines and between the fields of art and science. The energy flows that are thus generated trigger myriad possibilities and bring the development of talent to a peak. \r\nFor more information about JVE : link to JVE partner page on NEARCH website",

"description": "SPEG is an organisation that supports the Twinning with the City Gedaref in Sudan with all types of projects specifically for the the citizens to improve their living circumstances. Building of class rooms for basic education is a very important one. In this project we are building toilets in the schools of basic education. The funding actvitity starts with children of the elementary education in Eindhoven Walk for Water. The amount they collect is doubled by three organisations Brabant Water, Waterschap de Dommel and the Gemeente Eindhoven. Sometimes there are also gifts from other people, like the Ambassador of Sudan in The Hague and a former ambassador for Holland in Khartoum. After that action the total amount is doubled by the Aqua for All organisation. In our case it is used to build toilets. \r\n\r\nThere is also a project to help families improve their income by cultivating vegatables and selling or changing them for other items. The next year they continue with this activity as they are taught by students of the Agricultural University to save the seeds to be able to continue this income generating activity. If the children of these families do not go to school they are sponored for one year by the project. After that first year we find that the children continue going to school due to the improved financial position. We also notice that the diet of the family changes as they have access now to fresh vegetables. This project has added some more activities for families to improve the family income: caring for 15 chickes, which provide eggs for selling but also for use of the family of course. Another activity is to care for a milky goat and to sell part of the milk. The nex step was to provide a number of improved males to have off spring for the goats after the milk can no longer be produced. So now the young animals are given to another family so they can also produce milk.\r\nTwo new items were introduced in 2009: Planting shade and fruit trees inside the area of the house to produce fruit and to improve the conditions by providing shade in the living ares.\r\nThe other innovation is to provide gas units for women working in the markets to make coffee and tea to sell and food for the people who are working on the market all day. The gas is about 40% cheaper than using charcoal for cooking and it also saves the need to cut trees.\r\n\r\nWith the support of SPEG another twinning between organisations was started by the Digitale Stad Eindhoven (DSE) and Gedaref Digital City Organisation (GDCO). DSE sent several shipments of second hand refurbished computers to Gedaref to be used for training purposes in Gedaref. Now 700 computers are in Gedaref and used for educational purposes in schools during the normal school day and for adult education in the evenings. Also a number of telecentres have been established were people can work on the computers if they want to use them for study or for internet use. \r\n ",

The region where Hadefo will work did suffer in 2003 from the rebel armee of the LRA. They did destroy many schools and captured schoolkids. Because of government policy since 1997, Education for All, there was a big influx of pupils. But because of the recent war also lack of good accomodations. So classes of 90 pupils are very common.\r\nSince 2009 we did build in Soroti the Mama Teresa Primary and Nursery Boarding School and we did start with 7 classes for adult literacy (FAL Program) in 2 subcounties of Soroti.\r\nFor the next 19 month we want to complete the school and also to extend the FAL program with another 7 classes.",

School children aged 10-13 are sponsored by friends and family to walk 6 kilometres, while carrying 6 litres of water in a backpack. With two important results: kids learn about global water issues and raise funds to help solve them. Lectures by teachers and external guest on the importance of clean drinking water and proper sanitation ensure the educational nature of the event.\r\n\r\nThe experience helps kids understand what many children their age in developing countries must do every single day, often at the expense of being in school. It is a motivating and effective community event to engage the younger generation on an important topic and teach them that they can make a difference in the lives of others.\r\n\r\nHistory\r\nThe concept of Walking for Water was pioneered in the Netherlands by NGO Aqua for All, and has grown in popularity every year since it started 8 years ago. Results have been impressive — in 2010, 18.000 children from over 400 schools Walked for Water, raising €1.2 million for water projects around the world. Schools choose a project to fund with the money raised, and see the project unfold online.",

"description": "The Connect4Change consortium consists of six Dutch development and specialist ICT organisations (IICD, ICCO, Akvo, Cordaid, Edukans, Text to Change), all with extensive experience and vision on how to integrate information and communication technologies in their programmes to alleviate poverty and improve development.\r\n\r\nICT has changed and is changing the world. It is one of the main drivers behind globalisation, the creation of economic opportunities and empowerment of individuals. ICT has changed the lives of millions for the better and is an important tool in fighting poverty. Yet, many lack the possibility to profit from the opportunities arising. Realisation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be accelerated by using ICT in a smart and sustainable way. It is against this background that Dutch development organisations and specialized ICT organisations Akvo, Cordaid, Edukans, ICCO and IICD have decided to collaborate by setting-up the Connect4Change Consortium. The consortium works closely together with preferred partner Text to Change.\r\nThe Connect4Change Consortium has a vision of a world where people, in particular young people and women and girls, are able to access relevant information and create their own future. Information and communication technologies are a powerful instrument that can speed up the process of development and empowerment of individuals. It helps people to unlock themselves and make use of their own potential.\r\n\r\nOur mission is to strengthen people and civil society organisations in the sustainable use of and lobby for ICT to achieve their development goals, in particular in economic development, health and education. Individuals and organisations that represent the poor are key actors in using the possibilities of ICT.",
