"description": "Since its inception in 1984, ZARD has played an active role in providing information from its gender based research. Considering the 22 years of the organisation’s existence, members, staff and other network partners through a series of workshops that commenced in September, 2005 discussed the need for ZARD to rethink its vision, mission, relevance, mandate and new focus thus began the strategic planning process which is still ongoing. The following is a summary from the draft plan for 2007-2011:\r\n\r\nVISION\r\n\r\nA Zambia where women and men equitably benefit from and are fully integrated in, sustainable development processes at local and national levels.\r\n\r\nMISSION\r\n\r\nTo contribute to the development and advancement of the status of women in relation to men, through the production of evidence-based information, alternative approaches to development, capacity building of communities and coalition building with like-minded organizations locally and internationally.",

Its principal, Mr Mwansa, has a long-cherished dream: to furnish one room in the Special Needs Unit with equipment that would open up a whole new (virtual) world for these children. At the end of 2011, Rokana Basic School teamed up with around 20 other local schools in the area through the Mpelembe Basic Schools partnership. Through this partnership, teachers from Mpelembe Secondary school, show teachers from several local basic schools how they can use ICT to liven up their lessons. For example, through videos, interactive computer games, and power point presentations. Joining the partnership has also brought Mr Mwansa one step closer to realizing his dream.",

"description": "The Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian (CCAP) Synod of Livingstonia has existed for 135 years now since the coming of the first Scottish Missionaries in 1875. From the onset, it should be acknowledged, therefore, that our Church owes a lot to the Church of Scotland from who we have drawn our historical legacy as well as administrative identity. \r\n\r\nResponding to a divine call and influenced by the love of Christ and His grace, these Scottish pioneers approached evangelism holistically. The passionate belief was that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ would be void in the absence of a deliberate approach towards providing for people’s social needs simultaneously. This is why, besides the Bible and training of church ministers, they came to establish and operate hospitals, schools and colleges as well as providing safe water and electricity to mention but only some of the services. \r\n\r\nThe Church has over the years maintained that approach with a lot happening around propagation of the Gospel, many ministers being trained and a number of congregations and departments being established among other developmental programmes and projects. All this is meant to cater for the social-economic needs of the church’s population besides the preaching of the Good News. ",

It offers non paying services to the population of about 187 664 pepople excluding those that come from Mzimba North. 47% of the population is aged less than 15 years and 50% is aged between 15 and 64 years. 50.9% of the population are females. There are 12 public health facilities in Rumphi. Bolero is a rural hospital under Rumphi District Health Office. There are 6 mission health facilities which work hand in hand with the district health office. These mission health facilities get some of theirsupplies and payments for child, maternal and reproductive health services from the District Health Office. The hospital uses manual reporting system which has proved to be cumbersome and unreliable. Rumphi district health offices wishes to implement an electronic rerporting system for the district hospital and Bolero rural hospital with the aim of improving reporting and communication within the health sector in the district. "description": "Catholic Health Commission, is an arm of the Catholic Church under the Diocese of Chikwawa. The Health Commission operates under the guidance of The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), which is the highest policy making Council of Bishops responsible for the running and management of pastoral and social teaching of the Catholic Church in Malawi. The Health Commission operates within the field of HBC in terms of HIV prevention, care and support interventions based on the principles developed under the umbrella of ECM Home Based Care projects. Its vision is to have a healthy Society that is able to access improved and affordable Health Services. It identifies itself by a mission which is continuation of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ through promotion of human life by coordinating and providing affordable Health Services to rural and urban areas in Malawi. As such Health Commission is also responsible for facilitating and monitoring the quality of Health services in the diocese. The Commission works with Community Based Organisations (CBO) to reach out to the needy people in various communities within its parishes. Consequently, the implementation of interventions in HBC depends greatly on the role played by community volunteers that are closely working with the immediate caregivers. Therefore, the support the church is providing to the community groups has helped and encouraged communities to respond positively in caring and supporting the HBC clients within the respective communities. During the last three years with support from Cordaid, the Commission has a record of success stories in issues of mobilisation of community volunteers such that it has created a good network of volunteers and the health facilities within its catchment areas. It has also strengthened the community structures hence making the HBC groups sustainable.",
