One goal was to “reduce by half, the proportion of people without access to safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation” by the year 2015.\r\n \r\nTo help reach this goal, leading US-based non-governmental organizations working in water and sanitation formed the Millennium Water Alliance (MWA) as a 501(c)(3) organization to offer sustainable solutions through advocacy, shared knowledge, and collaborative programming. Our vision mirrors our belief that no one should die or suffer chronic illness as the result of a water-related disease.",

With teaching a staff of over a hundred and a student population of one thousand one hundred and thirty five girls, it is also one of the largest educational institutions in the Maltese Islands. Like all other state secondary level schools in Malta it offers an educational programme which follows the National Minimum Curriculum for Secondary Schools.\r\nThe school (formerly known as St. Mary's Grammar School) is named after Can Gian Piet Agius de Soldanis (1712 - 1770) a pioneer in Maltese linguistics and philosophy. Born in Victoria, Gozo, Agius de Soldanis is mostly remembered as the author of a history book about Gozo: Gozo Antico e Moderno, Sacro e Profano.",

"description": "UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. That makes us unique among world organizations, and unique among those working with the young.\r\n\r\nWe believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity.\r\n\r\nWe advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.\r\n\r\nWe promote girls’ education – ensuring that they complete primary education as a minimum – because it benefits all children, both girls and boys. Girls who are educated grow up to become better thinkers, better citizens, and better parents to their own children.\r\n\r\nWe act so that all children are immunized against common childhood diseases, and are well nourished, because it is wrong for a child to suffer or die from a preventable illness.\r\n\r\n\r\n\"For Every Child\" is a UNICEF video which highlights the importance of realizing children's rights as foreseen in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.\r\nWe work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people because it is right to keep them from harm and enable them to protect others. We help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity.\r\n\r\nWe involve everyone in creating protective environments for children. We are present to relieve suffering during emergencies, and wherever children are threatened, because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation.\r\n\r\nUNICEF upholds the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We work to assure equality for those who are discriminated against, girls and women in particular. We work for the Millennium Development Goals and for the progress promised in the United Nations Charter. We strive for peace and security. We work to hold everyone accountable to the promises made for children.\r\n\r\nWe are part of the Global Movement for Children – a broad coalition dedicated to improving the life of every child. Through this movement, and events such as the United Nations Special Session on Children, we encourage young people to speak out and participate in the decisions that affect their lives. \r\n\r\nWe are active in more than 190 countries and territories through country programmes and National Committees. We are UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund.",

"description": "PROTOS aims at facilitating sustainable and empowering development processes that are well integrated in the local cultural and social context and that strive to improve the general well being of the destitute groups in the South. In that view, water is a key element. Given its expertise in this field, PROTOS particularly stands up for equitable, sustainable and participatory water management in the North and the South.\r\nEquitable water management assumes solidarity amongst all users, whereby each individual has the right to sufficient water quantities for a well-balanced human development.\r\nSustainable water management seeks to optimally use the available water sources without threatening the other users, the environment or the future.\r\nParticipatory water management requires the involvement of each individual and community, including disadvantaged groups, providing the opportunity for them to take control of their own future. In this, a fair gender balance has to be respected.\r\nPROTOS wants to achieve these objectives by:\r\n- Supporting participatory development programmes in the South: via an improvement of access to water, and of distribution and/or valorisation of water, PROTOS aims to improve the socio-economic situation of the local population.\r\n- Being a lever: by strengthening the capacities, the vision and the position of organisations that are able to capitalize on the knowledge fostered by these programmes and capable of making profit of this knowledge in the future.\r\n- Stimulating the cooperation between all parties involved in the planning and implementation of local development, including the civil society organisations and the local authorities.\r\n- Stimulating the debate on the equitable, sustainable and participatory water resources management in both the North and the South. The experiences of PROTOS and its partner organisations are able to contribute to this debate.",

"description": "Public Private Partnership: the model ICCO uses to work with the private sector consists of organizing farmers into cooperatives, providing them with entrepreneurial skills and agronomic skills training; linking farmers to the markets and facilitate access to financial products.\r\nOther expertise areas include: Lobby and Advocacy for Food Security, Value Chain Development, Making Markets work for the Poor (M4P), Market Information Systems (MIS), Connect4Change.\r\nAlthough food security is improving in Mali, households remain highly vulnerable and chronic food insecurity persists and manifests itself through malnutrition, especially among women with newborn, pregnant women, and young children. It is estimated that the prevalence of thinness in children under 5 years of age (15% in 2006) places the country at a very high level of malnutrition. To support Mali State to overcome such a situation, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the ICCO Consortium (ICCO) are in a strategic partnership to promote innovative approach based on lobby and advocacy. \r\n\r\nThe approach consists of of strengthening civil society organizations and creating dialogue with political, administrative decision-makers to find solutions to the problems related to Food Security and Nutrition with regards to the diversification of the production, to access to land for the most vulnerable groups (women, youth, migrants) and other natural resources management that cause most of the conflict in rural Mali.",
