GeRT conducts multidisciplinary research on environmental problems, WASH, groundwater arsenic poisoning, fluvial morphology, GIS and Remote Sensing, and so on. GeRT has conducted a number of research and consulting works in WASH, climate change, groundwater arsenic poisoning, medical waste management, disaster preparedness and management, and air quality monitoring. GeRT experiences in the WASH sector are mainly focussing on: (a) assessing the performance of urban sanitation; (b) improved sanitation in the slums of Metropolitan Cities; and (c) community of sanitation practice: changing behaviour for better sanitation; and (d) sanitation interventions in urban informal settlements: roles of Government, NGOs and the grassroots.\r\n\r\nGeRT is also conducting research works on the impact of climate change, mainly the global warming and water supply situation, and water scarcity in the southwest Bangladesh. We are hopeful to make the scientific associations between climate change and water demand that will be an added value in the WASH sector. Moreover, we are capable of conducting research on water quality, specifically the groundwater arsenic poisoning, cancer risk assessment and its mitigation.",

The women wanted to address the numerous issues of drought, migration, water and fodder shortage, falling productivity in their traditional occupations of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries and later the loss of resources and land to industrialization. Therefore, Sahjeevan, from its inception developed a strong gender perspective on natural resources. Our professionals also learnt and developed pedagogy of learning from and respecting traditional wisdom.",

"description": "NIRMAN works with agrarian, tribal and forest dwelling community to deal with food and livelihood insecurity of these marginalized section of society. These communities are critically dependent on agriculture and forests for livelihood and face the growing threat of loosing their livelihood options due to fast depleting natural resources base like land and forests. The other most important issue confronting these vulnerable groups is lack of secure tenure over customarily used land and forest resources thus resulting in very poor access and control over these resources. Keeping in view the importance of natural resources for supporting livelihoods, we focus on sustainable management of natural resources along with conservation and promotion of bio-diverse farming through community based democratic institutions. \r\nhe growing concern for supporting an agro-ecosystem that value the traditional wisdom of conservation and management and create toxic free food laid the foundation of NIRMAN in 1997. NIRMAN facilitates participatory approach that promotes local innovations and leadership building process from among the local community.",

Our approach increases rural employment and converts the labour to more productive gains. Our crop and water management technologies impact soil fertility, water saving and climate change without any extra investments.",

"description": "Grameen Sahara started its operation in the year 2002 with an aim to promote and facilitate Sustainable Livelihood practices. Progress for this organization during the last thirteen years can be attributed for its decisiveness at critical moments, its willingness to pass through unchartered waters and its ability to learn from mistakes. Grameen Sahara realized long before in the year 2002 that the rural areas are facing a grave threat to their livelihoods due to mounting pressure of limited financial resources, narrowing down of livelihood leveraging activities, marginalized agricultural lands and exploitation of natural resources. Hence it was deeply felt to support these un-served section of society with both financial and technical services to enhance the income requirements without compromising the health of environment. The organization therefore took an ambitious step by initiating Microfinance programme, the goal of which was to provide rural population a financial support to promote livelihood initiatives. After its initial hiccups but with assured success, Grameen Sahara started Golden Weaver’s programme. These two programmes gave Grameen Sahara confidence to carry a roadmap of supporting various sustainable livelihood leveraging activities. Some of the major ongoing projects being implemented are- “Golden Weaver’s Project”, “SRI” , “DBI” , “MKSP” , “Rights of women in conflict and fragile state” , “Peoples' institution for Livelihood security in Assam”.",
