"description": "Centre for Child Rights and Development – CCRD an organisation based at Chennai was established in the year 1998 and is registered under the Indian Trust Act of 1882. The Board of Trustees consists of five members who all have a long experience and expertise on human rights, child rights and sustainable development issues. \r\nAs a partner Organisation of ICCO/ Kerkinactie-The Netherlands since 2002 CCRD has been implementing programmes as a child rights organisation to support NGO’s, Campaigns & Networks of Child Rights and the Government of Tamil Nadu by providing Capacity Enhancement Trainings along with documentation and information dissemination services, including advocacy initiatives for influencing public policy and law including its effective implementation. This support from ICCO/kerkinactie over the years has enabled CCRD to establish itself as a “Resource Centre for Child Rights” at the State level supporting NGO’s working in different districts of Tamil Nadu including various campaigns and networks both at the national level and state level. The funding for the Resource Centre activities all these years has been mainly provided by ICCO/Kerkinactie-The Netherlands. \r\nThe need for CCRD to sustain itself as a “State level Resource Centre on Child Rights” on a long term basis, emanates from the experience of working with different NGO’s across the state, children themselves and specially targeted groups like representatives of local bodies, Anganwadi workers, Teachers, SHG leaders, Students of Social Work & Law, Academicians, Government officials and UN Agencies. This experience over the years has provided adequate intellectual stimulation and reflection opportunities to CCRD to gain a deeper understanding to intensify the existing Campaign, Advocacy and Social Mobilization initiatives in Tamil Nadu to promote and protect children’s rights. Further and most importantly CCRD has the goodwill and support of more than 75 NGOs organisations spread across different districts of Tamil Nadu and good rapport with academic institutions, government agencies, UN organisations like ILO, UNICEF and leadership positions in important campaigns & networks both at the state level and national level to implement programmes towards ensuring the “best interest of children”. "description": "Brief history and nature of the organization:\r\nBVHA is a Secular & Voluntary Association of Charitable Hospital, Health Centres formed in the year 1969 and got registered in February 1970 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 at Patna, Bihar. BVHA pioneered the movement of Voluntary Health Association in India. Other State Voluntary Health Association that have sprung-up in many states of India, including the Central Body Voluntary Health Association of India, New Delhi after BVHA's inception. BVHA works to make Health a reality for the people of Bihar especially the weaker section of the Society through Voluntary organization with the active involvement and the participation of the community. BVHA has been contributing immensely by providing impetus and direction to the Community Health upliftment in Bihar State for the last 44 years.\r\n\r\nDuring the initial years BVHA was mainly involved with the hospitals and relief activities during the natural calamities. Gradually it stepped down to the grass-root level NGOs and put effort to make a network of voluntary organizations directly associated with the mass and responding to their health needs with the involvement of large network of 127 members and more than 300 associate non-member voluntary organizations at present. Now BVHA not only conducts relief but also actively involved in capacity building programmes of voluntary organizations and developing model programmes for the major health problems e.g. Reproductive Health Issues Malaria, T.B., Diarrhoea, IDD, Kala-azar , Water Born Diseases ,Tobacco related diseases , Life style disorder etc.\r\n\r\nGoal:\r\nThe goal of BVHA is to have a healthy community through community health action, by promoting social justice in the provision & distribution of health care. It is believed that people grow better when they are encouraged to do whatever they can for themselves. It is hoped that good health may become a reality for all the people only through organizational activities at the voluntary level. Persons and associations classed as voluntary have great opportunity to help people at the weakest & most depressed. To see the value of good health and have access to basic health services as human rights. Primary health is the prime crux of the health care delivery system and is most important to ensure community health promotion.",

Sri A.L. Narasimha Murthy, the pioneer conceived the idea of establishing a service society after being inspired by the Gandhian concept of “Grama Swaraj”. The multi sectoral activities, which the organization aims at include economic development, social upliftment, improving health, sanitary conditions and literacy status besides protecting the environment with all its Bio-diversity. \r\n\r\nTo begin with, the VJNNS undertook activities relating to Khadi and Village Industries. Later on the organization extended its activity towards ensuring water supply besides land development. The organization is privileged to enrich itself with its partnership with 22 International and 20 local agencies, which include the Govt. of India for grounding various development and welfare activities, which are in tune with the basic objectives of the organization. "description": "Wasrag – the Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group – was mandated by Rotary International in 2007 to: provide information, support and encouragement to 1.2 million Rotarians, in over 33,000 Rotary Clubs and 540 districts to take active roles in projects/programs to develop safe water and sanitation as a means of promoting health and alleviating hunger.”\r\n\r\nRotary clubs around the world needed support for their water and sanitation projects. They needed access to the most appropriate technologies, to outside funding and to expertise, none of which were available within the traditional Rotary structure.\r\n\r\nMost important, it became apparent to Rotarians and to potential funding partners that the original Rotary model - many small projects with limited community involvement or empowerment - would not have the impact many Rotarians were seeking. Nor could the supply-driven focus of many clubs achieve any significant degree of sustainability.\r\n\r\nTo fulfill this mandate Wasrag’s goals are to:\r\n\r\n- Create awareness among Rotarians of the importance of conservation and sustainability and of local and global water issues;\r\n- Raise awareness of the need for, and benefits of, safe water and sanitation;\r\n- Develop a compendium of best practices to ensure sustainability and cost-effectiveness;\r\n- Distribute information on appropriate technologies for supplying, conserving and purifying water and for sanitation;\r\n- Build and encourage mutually beneficial relationships with other organizations, corporations, agencies and NGOs sharing common water and sanitation related goals;\r\n- Identify alternative sources of financing to complement The Rotary Foundation e.g. private foundations, corporations, government agencies;\r\n- Assist in identifying and formulating programs and projects that will promote sustainability; Implement mechanisms to determine the effectiveness of projects;\r\n- Create a network of experts accessible to Rotarians and Rotary clubs;\r\n- Provide training and education on water/sanitation technologies and issues;\r\n- Facilitate the exchange of information via a web-based forum a forum;\r\n- Establish a bibliography of relevant materials, references etc.;\r\n- Give information on relevant conferences;\r\n- Act as advocates on water issues;\r\n- Support Rotary clubs seeking financial and/or technical assistance;\r\n- Foster “Centers of Excellence” on water/sanitation;\r\n- Operate a web-site and produce regular newsletters or bulletins;\r\n- Implement procedures to ensure sustainability and cost-effectiveness;\r\n\r\nWasrag was authorized by Rotary International to carry out this mission in February 2004 and was officially launched on World Water Day, March 22nd, 2007 at the National Press Club in New York. Since then it has facilitated well over 200 projects—helping clubs find partners, helping to ensure sustainability, stressing the importance of a needs-driven approach, developing best practices, encouraging a holistic, integrated approach in which water is not the end in itself but is rather the means to a better life and livelihood in the community.\r\n\r\nMost importantly it links water and sanitation to personal hygiene, better health, empowering the community (especially women), irrigation and agriculture, education and literacy and, ultimately, child mortality. "description": "Public Private Partnership: the model ICCO uses to work with the private sector consists of organizing farmers into cooperatives, providing them with entrepreneurial skills and agronomic skills training; linking farmers to the markets and facilitate access to financial products.\r\nOther expertise areas include: Lobby and Advocacy for Food Security, Value Chain Development, Making Markets work for the Poor (M4P), Market Information Systems (MIS), Connect4Change.\r\nAlthough food security is improving in Mali, households remain highly vulnerable and chronic food insecurity persists and manifests itself through malnutrition, especially among women with newborn, pregnant women, and young children. It is estimated that the prevalence of thinness in children under 5 years of age (15% in 2006) places the country at a very high level of malnutrition. To support Mali State to overcome such a situation, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the ICCO Consortium (ICCO) are in a strategic partnership to promote innovative approach based on lobby and advocacy. \r\n\r\nThe approach consists of of strengthening civil society organizations and creating dialogue with political, administrative decision-makers to find solutions to the problems related to Food Security and Nutrition with regards to the diversification of the production, to access to land for the most vulnerable groups (women, youth, migrants) and other natural resources management that cause most of the conflict in rural Mali.",
