The women wanted to address the numerous issues of drought, migration, water and fodder shortage, falling productivity in their traditional occupations of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries and later the loss of resources and land to industrialization. Therefore, Sahjeevan, from its inception developed a strong gender perspective on natural resources. Our professionals also learnt and developed pedagogy of learning from and respecting traditional wisdom.",

We work through local churches to unlock people's potential.\r\nAt Tearfund, what drives us is a belief that the local church is a powerful force for transformation in communities living in every kind of poverty. Inspired by the example and teaching of Jesus, we recognise that people have deeply interconnected material and spiritual needs, and we seek to meet those needs by working through our local church partners. Churches are at the heart of their communities – full of dedicated, resourceful people who want to make a long-term difference.\r\n\r\nWe work particularly in Africa, Asia and South America – and also across Eastern Europe and the UK. Right now, we’re focussing on some of the biggest challenges facing the world today\r\n",

"description": "Frenzy, the Dutch Warhammer championship, took place in the Rai in Amsterdam on the 23rd of January 2010. For amateurs Michel, Merijn and Sjoerd it was D-Day for their Warhammer for Water initiative.\r\n\r\nAfter the guys glimpsed the Africa Interactive video of the project , they settled on supporting this Safe Drinking Water & Women empowerment project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, run by Akvo support partner Women for Water Partnership and field partner Soroptimist International of Europe Club. \r\nAfter some coffee Sjoerd and Merijn unpacked their combined dwarf and woodelf army, ready to engage professional opponents. But just a few minutes into the first match they lost an entire regiment, and what followed next can only be described as a wipe-out.\r\nWith the support of family and friends the second game started a lot better. These opponents did not seem used to both supporters and camera’s being present, and after a big clash Sjoerd and Merijn scored their first official minor victory. In the third game against a nicely painted lizardmen army (yes – I discover my inner nerd..) Sjoerd got substituted. Merijn and Michel thought hard before deciding to play all or nothing, ending in a solid victory! By doing so the guys ended 10th – out of 34 participating teams. ",

"description": "The Hydraulic Research station is (HRS) is a pioneer centre for water research activities in Sudan located in Wad Medani. It is one of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources (MOIWR) general directorates and represents its research arm.\r\n\r\nHydraulic Research Station was established in 1976 through generous help from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to lend support for sound and sustainable national water resource development and management. Development of HRS as UNDP/UNESCO assisted project was completed in 1986. By then all responsibilities were turned over to HRS MOIWR\r\n\r\nOver the years, HRS has established a reputable record of research achievements in areas like river training, sediment transport and management, irrigation engineering and management, and water resources planning and management.\r\n\r\nHRS acquired this reputation from long practice, experience and excellent performance in solving real life problems. There is a strong link between the applied research activities and the needs of the National Water Research Centre and the Ministry of Irrigation & Water Resources plans. In addition, the HRS carries out studies for other ministries, governmental and non-governmental bodies and consulting firms. Also, technical training and international cooperation in river engineering subjects have been helpful to build institutional capacity and sustain technology transfer programs ",

The Good Shepherd is active in fundraising in the Netherlands.Water, Environment and Geo Services Ltd. (WE Consult) was founded in 1997 and has been involved in the provision of consultancy services in the water sector in Uganda and other African countries. WE Consult carries out all the water resources investigations for TGS Water before the sources are constructed. The Diocese of Lira, through CARITAS Lira, has been working with the TGS Foundation since 2004. In the period 2004-2007 the CARITAS water department has constructed over 150 springs and 20 shallow boreholes in the Lira Diocese area. In 2007 the water department staff was integrated in TGS Water Ltd. In 2009, Stichting Afrika Projecten will also participate in TGS Water Ltd. This foundation has financed 60 protected springs in Uganda besides implementing a water programme in Kenya. The Kenya programme will be closed and SAP will move their water programme to Uganda. They will finance their activities through Link to Progress, an NGO newly established by SAP and the TGS Foundation.",

IFA has eight mobile Field Bases , supported by the central Nairobi Base. It uses high quality social justice documentaries to spur discussion and debate on issues of concern in the communities, always encouraging active and peaceful participation in the democratic process. IFA uses the camera-during the making of the documentaries- and screen to give ordinary citizens the confidence to speak out, encouraging them to make demands from a position of understanding and accurate information. This is a unique approach to human rights and social justice that goes well beyond conventional methods.\r\n \r\n",

"description": "Vision\r\nASTU aspires to be the first choice in Ethiopia and the premier center of excellence in applied science and technology in Africa by 2030.\r\nMission\r\nThe mission of ASTU is to provide ethical and competent graduates in applied science and technology through quality education, demand driven research and community service. ASTU also provides innovative knowledge to support the socio-economic development of the nation.\r\n\r\nAdama Science and Technology University (ASTU) was first established in 1993 as Nazareth Technical College (NTC), offering degree and diploma level education in technology fields. Later, the institution was renamed as Nazareth College of Technical Teacher Education (NCTTE), a self-explanatory label that describes what the institution used to train back then: candidates who would become technical teachers for TVET colleges/Schools across the country.\r\n\r\nFollowing its renaming by the Council of Ministers as Adama Science and Technology University in May 2011, the university has started working towards the attainment of becoming a center of excellence in science and technology, thereby allowing for the realization of goals set in the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP). To this end, a South Korean has been appointed as President of the University. Currently, ASTU is setting up a Research Park, in collaboration with stakeholders and other concerned bodies: one of a kind in the Ethiopian context. The university is also venturing out to the wider community and is currently engaged in various joint undertakings.\r\n",

World Vision operated emergency response programmes during the 1984 famine, followed by a period of rehabilitation (1986-87) and a self-review that came up with the concept of Area Development Programmes (ADPs) as a model.\r\n\r\nWorld Vision’s work in Ethiopia contributes to the well-being of vulnerable children in partnership with the church, civil society and the government. Initiatives include education, food security, health, HIV and AIDS, water, sanitation, and hygiene, as well as sponsorship management. All programmes are implemented with the goal of addressing the strategic and basic needs of children while supporting and building the capacity of families and communities. ",
