"description": "Mission\r\nOur mission is to create a world where sustainable farming is the norm. Sustainable farming helps farmers, workers and their families to fulfill their ambitions and contributes to safeguard the world’s resources, now and in the future.\r\n\r\nVision\r\nA world where sustainable farming is the norm is a world where: farmers implement good agricultural practices and manage their farms profitably with respect for people and planet; industry invests in and rewards sustainable production, and consumers can enjoy and trust the products they buy\r\n\r\nBetter farming. Better future\r\nUTZ is committed to creating a better, more sustainable world. We are now the largest program for coffee and cocoa and have certification schemes in other commodities including (herbal) tea, rooibos and hazelnuts. The UTZ certified label features on over 20,000 different products across 135 countries. Companies such as Ikea, Jacobs Douwe Egberts, Lavazza, Tchibo and many others have already recognized that, by sourcing UTZ certified products, they can build the trust of their customers while supporting a better world.\r\n\r\nA Cross-Cutting Approach\r\nWhile we have seen significant improvements for farmers and their workers through certification, we have also seen that some of the problems they face cannot be addressed by this alone. Issues such as child labor, low wages and climate change require a cross-cutting approach. This means that only when UTZ works together with producers, NGOs, governments and buyers, can these issues really be tackled. Building on our experience and reach, we are expanding our work to look at how we can join forces with others to make a lasting impact on these issues, in order to create a better future for everyone.",

The Foundation seeks to achieve these aims by:\r\n\r\n- Education and research with regard to tangible and intangible cultural heritage in Malawi\r\n- Supporting and initiating projects concerning aspects of Malawian cultural heritage, not excluding any ethnic group or historical period.\r\n- Supporting activities that lead to greater publicity and awareness of Malawian cultural heritage, and thus its preservation.\r\n- Lobbying for conservation measures with the Malawi government.\r\n- Promoting rural poverty reduction by sustainable, community-based cultural resource management\r\n",

"description": "Most parts of Busia County fall within the Lake Victoria Basin. The altitude is undulating and rises from about 1,130m above sea level at the shores of Lake Victoria to a maximum of about 1,500m in the Samia and North Teso Hills. The central part of the county, especially Butula and Nambale Sub-counties, are occupied by a peneplains marked by low flat divides of approximately uniform height, often capped by lateritic and a shallowly incised swampy drainage system.\r\n\r\nThe Samia Hills represent the basement complex and consist of acid and sub-acid lavas, tuffs, and agglomerates, banded quartzite and iron stones.
