"description": "Agence Française de Développement is the operator for France’s bilateral development finance mechanism. It is a public industrial and commercial institution with the status of specialized financial institution. Its action is in line with the policy set out in France’s Framework Document for Development Cooperation. This document was approved at the end of 2010 and in 2011 was translated into a three-year contract specifying objectives and resources between the French Government and AFD.\r\n\r\n--\r\n\r\nL’Agence Française de Développement (AFD) est un Etablissement Public à caractère Industriel et\r\nCommercial relevant de la loi bancaire en tant qu’établissement financier spécialisé. L’AFD est au cœur du dispositif français de l’aide publique en faveur des pays pauvres. Sa mission : participer au financement du développement.\r\n\r\nGrâce à la large gamme d’instruments financiers qu’elle a su développer et enrichir, l’AFD soutient les pouvoirs publics, le secteur privé et les réseaux associatifs locaux pour la mise en oeuvre de projets économiques et sociaux très divers. Elle intervient ainsi dans cinq continents et dans les collectivités d’Outre-mer. \r\n\r\nSes actions en faveur de la croissance économique et de la préservation de l’environnement s’inscrivent directement dans le cadre des Objectifs du Millénaire (OMD). Ces objectifs de développement prioritaires ont été définis en 2000 par les Nations unies, visant à réduire de moitié la pauvreté dans le monde d’ici à 2015.\r\n\r\nL’AFD contribue également à la préservation des biens publics mondiaux et peut répondre à des situations de crise. Elle développe aussi des partenariats financiers et intellectuels avec d’autres bailleurs de fonds et s’attache à défendre l’influence française dans la sphère du développement. \r\n\r\nAu plus près du terrain en Afrique, en Asie, dans le pourtour méditerranéen, au Moyen-Orient, en\r\nAmérique du sud et dans l’Outre-mer français, l’AFD intervient avec efficacité et réactivité grâce à son réseau d’agences et à ses différentes filiales.
