It operates worldwide with organisations in countries where people suffer from poverty and its many consequences on nutrition, health, and the opportunity to participate in social and political life. DED's goal is to improve these people's lives fundamentally. As a public-benefit organisation, DED cooperates with local partners. DED technical advisers are experienced and committed experts on limited-term assignments, who work with local active organisations to induce positive change. DED also works with local experts and specialists to ensure the sustainability of this development process, thereby strengthening local competences and partner organisations' responsibility and initiative, so that local people can shape their future themselves in the long term. DED technical advisers in turn benefit from the knowledge, experience and contacts of their local colleagues. This knowledge is of inestimable value for effective cooperation.\r\nDED also offers young people the opportunity to gain experience worldwide. The Young Professionals Programme is a scholarship scheme which enables young people embarking on a career and university graduates to work in a project during a one-year stay in a DED partner country, to get to know how DED and its partners work, and to develop social competence for living and working in another culture. The Young Professionals Programme is intended to encourage them and, at the same time, enhance their subsequent opportunities to work in development cooperation institutions in Germany and abroad. DED also offers young people aged 18 to 23 the opportunity to participate in \"weltwärts\" – the international volunteer programme of the German Federal Government.\r\nDED operates on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). With its nuanced range of personnel and services, DED is recognised worldwide as one of the leading European development services for personnel cooperation. Together with local organisations in developing countries, Hivos strives for a world in which all citizens – both men and women – have equal access to resources and opportunities for development.\r\nHivos is a Dutch non-governmental organisation guided by humanist values. A number of its core values are human dignity and self determination, an aversion to dogmas and totalitarian regimes, and a sense of mutual solidarity. The organisation is committed to poor and marginalised peoples in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It strives for the long-term improvement of their circumstances and for the empowerment of women in particular.\r\n\r\nThe work of Hivos aims at structurally alleviating poverty, with an emphasis on civil society building and on sustainable economic development. The efforts of Hivos are focused on nine themes: financial services and business development; sustainable production; human rights and democratisation; HIV/AIDS; gender, women and development; art and culture; ICT & media; advocacy and communication; and the knowledge programme. You can read more about each one of these themes on this website.\r\n\r\nJoining forces and pooling resources is crucial to achieve the objectives of Hivos. Hivos supports over 800 partner organisations in more than 30 countries through financial means and institutional support as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience. In addition, Hivos works together with a number of organisations, companies and governments in the Netherlands and Europe, and it belongs to various national and international networks. Hivos also conducts advocacy activities itself in the Netherlands, throughout Europe and worldwide.\r\n\r\nHivos is a non-governmental organisation with a societal goal which plays a public role. Hivos is one of the four largest organisations in the ‘co-financing system’ of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Working among underprivileged communities of rural Nepal, RRN has been implementing integrated community development programmes and projects at the grassroots level and policy advocacy, lobbying and networking at local, national, and international levels.\r\n\r\nRRN embraces a two-pronged approach for its development intervention: (i) Working with peasant people by implementing integrated community development projects and action-oriented research focusing on the poorest and most vulnerable people/groups in rural areas and (ii) Policy research, advocacy, campaign and lobbying at the local, national, and international levels on the root causes of poverty; the problems of the resource poor; and social, economic, and cultural rights; and the right to development and environmental degradation.\r\n\r\nRRN is the only national NGO with extended capacity and development outreach that has successfully implemented various result-oriented, rights-based, integrated community development initiatives addressing the frustrated expectations of the poor, marginalised, vulnerable and conflict affected people. RRN has a proven track record of its engagement for economic, social and cultural rights and right to development by implementing pro-people development programmes, facilitating to exercise the community owned and managed integrated approaches, especially in the conflict sensitive societies.\r\n\r\nAll development programmes of RRN focus on the fourfold approach of Rural Reconstruction as the foundation upon which its programme and project activities are based on:\r\n• Education: to combat illiteracy and ignorance and provide exposure to the outside world\r\n• Sustainable livelihoods: to fight poverty and hunger\r\n• Health: to prevent disease and promote rights to health\r\n• Self-Government: to overcome civic inertia through institutional development leading to self-reliance\r\n\r\nSince 1997, RRN has enjoyed the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and is also accredited to the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Currently, it is hosting the Secretariat of Right to Food Network, Secretariat of the South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE) – a South Asia regional alliance of mass based civil society organisations and individuals and the International Secretariat of LDC Watch. They represent several of RRN’s civil society alliances with which RRN is associated to fight against poverty and hunger and for the realization of human rights, social justice, democracy and peace. At National level, RRN is being actively engaged in policy lobby and advocacy campaigns through Right to Food Network (RtF) , Children as Zone of Peace and Child protection (CZOPP), Anti-trafficking Alliance for Women and Children in Nepal (AATWIN), Civil Society Alliance for Nutrtion in Nepal (CSANN) and Disaster Preparedness Network(DPNet) for promoting disaster resilient communities through building and reconstructing the earthquake and disaster resilient infrastructures in its programme and projects. \r\n\r\nOver the past 24 years, RRN has been promoting democratic participation and inclusive self-government, enhancing empowerment of and ownership by the local communities. As one of the vital components of its programmes, RRN encourages and facilitates people to build their own organizations and institutions for their own development. Such people’s groups form the building blocks for bottom up organizational development and promote genuine participation in the development process. AVINA is a Latin American organization that contributes to sustainable development in Latin America by encouraging productive alliances based on trust among social and business leaders, and by brokering consensus around shared agendas for action, with the support of people and institutions from around the world. It has several programs called Opportunities of Continental Relevance, one of which is the \"Water Access Program\" that seeks to help that 5 million people more in Latin America have access to water in the next three years. To do that, AVINA is working with hundreds of local organizations in 14 countries, called Community Water Boards, which are providing water to millions of people, utilizing democratic means of governance and decision-making. AVINA is also working in alliance with other international organizations such as CARE International, Water for People, Water Advocates, Global Water Partnerships, Water and Youth Movement, and AKVO, among others. \r\n ", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 72, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 1238, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 1119, "latitude": -11.45807, "longitude": 34.015131, "city": "Mzuzu", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "MW", "country": 10, "location_target": 1238 } ], "logo": null, "latitude": "-11.45807", "longitude": "34.015131", "city": "Mzuzu", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2013-06-24T17:27:47+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:58.335595+01:00", "name": "Mzuzu City Council", "long_name": "Mzuzu City Council", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "G", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 15, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "002651325031", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "R.C. If the billions of rural poor only have a bush knife as tool, then the water pump they may need should be made with only that bush knife and resources available to them. \r\n\r\nIf these billions of rural poor would be motivated by the quality of an adequate design made available to them they would put this information to practice. \r\n\r\nHow with such limited means crucial quality can be achieved is mission and task of Foundation \"Demotech, design for self-reliance\". Demotech finds such solutions by tenacious research in its laboratory and during field work, Experience gained is shared with for whom it matters in its website, video-reporting and published papers.\r\n\r\nThe Demotech Rope Pump design from 1975, first field tested in 1976 in Burkina Faso, embodied many of the required qualities for unsupported self-sustained use at the Bottom of the Pyramid. Demotech and others have reported where, when and how this happened. \r\nPopularity of the Rope Pump design induced some NGO's to partly subsidized providing of this water pump, often with a more centralized manufacture with industrial means. In practice this led to the same failure of other industrial produced hand pumps due to difficulty to maintain and find spare parts while numbers of pumps realized where a fraction of set targets.\r\n\r\nOn our website you will find many projects that are designed with a similar approach. Examples are, Hydraulic Rampumps, Furniture, Administration system, Sanitation, Transport, Engineering for the Bottom of the Pyramid work shops, etc. \r\n\r\nAgain Demotech sees it as its task to generate, field test and publish a design for a hand driven water pump that fulfills all criteria for rapid self-reliant and self-sustained application required for reaching Millennium Development Goals. Design targets are set higher then in 1975. Functional performance to be equal or better then existing hand pumps to depth of 70 meters. Cost within the reach of the extreme poor (<1$/p/day). Made with local materials and tools only, according to local craft practice. Self-explaining setup and construction limits need for training to demonstration and peer-to-peer spread of knowledge. \r\n\r\nBench marks of success will be immediate un-invited, un-subsidized copying of the water pump where demonstrated and needed. A bench mark that takes more time to set is development of income generation by manufacture and local selling of the rope pump. A third bench mark is the occurrence of change in life-style because of easier access to water. \r\n\r\nRe-design is Demotech's job. Demotech explores and puts to practice the possibilities of a different approach to development, which takes into account the social construction of technology and critically deals with the process of their innovation and implementation. Demotech treats people as creators of development and active collaborators in the process of shaping technology.\r\n\r\nAll the work that it takes to realize such bench marks describes best how our organization Demotech functions and performs: all but easy going!", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 164, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2764, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 4309, "latitude": 52.392496, "longitude": 5.174758, "city": "Almere", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "NL", "country": 3, "location_target": 2764 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/ec/dd/ecdd1ae46c9e79d215944deffc5cf2aa.jpg", "latitude": "52.392496", "longitude": "5.174758", "city": "Almere", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2015-05-06T09:06:26.902104+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-05-06T09:08:45.510656+02:00", "name": "RC Almere-New Town", "long_name": "RC Almere-New Town", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.rotary.nl/almerenewtown/clubjaar/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Remko Bijlsma", "contact_email": "", "description": "Rotary werd als allereerste serviceclub ter wereld opgericht in 1905 in Chicago, VS. FIT is part of a network of organizations initiated by ILO in six African Countries in East Central and West Africa in the early 90s. FIT has identified personnel to be a key resource in development and therefore places Capacity Building at the core of its activities.\r\n\r\nFIT believes that effective services that blend well with the objectives of development agencies, governments and those of target beneficiaries will increase growth and generate employment. Our strategy for sustainable livelihoods is to improve the supply of sustainable development services and skills to communities and SMEs through capacity building and access to markets and or services.\r\n\r\nIn Kenya and most countries in Sub Saharan Africa 80% of the population reside in rural areas with approximately 90% deriving their livelihoods from agriculture and agriculture related activities. The highest poverty levels are also to be found in the rural areas. FIT has therefore concentrated on promoting initiatives in the rural areas aimed at promoting agriculture as a business.\r\n\r\nFIT therefore believes that targeting the poorest people to be able to participate in their own development will spur sustainable poverty alleviation across board. Hence FIT Programmes have focused on promoting initiatives that are cost effective and can be implemented by the people themselves.\r\n\r\nFIT Resources offers exceptional collective knowledge and experience in innovative approaches to agricultural & enterprise development, intervention design, implementation and evaluation, management, and diversification of income resources among the rural poor. Our programmes have helped many entrepreneurs and development organizations to restructure and rationalize and commercialize their activities in order to improve wealth creation leading to improved and sustainable livelihoods.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhat we do\r\n\r\nBroadly, FIT promotes SME development through:\r\n\r\n•\tResearch\r\n•\tDesign and implementation of programmes\r\n•\tProject analysis, design and or management \r\n•\tMonitoring and Evaluation of SME projects\r\n•\tCapacity building for institutions who work with SMEs\r\n\r\nMain Focus\r\n\r\nFIT works with and through:\r\n\r\n•\tMedia houses in the development and implementation of commercially viable media programmes that benefit smallholder farmers mainly in rural communities. FIT builds capacities of Media staff and consultants,\r\n•\tDonors, Governments and trade associations that promote smallholder farmers in specific sub-sectors especially honey and the horticultural sub-sectors. FIT builds capacities of staff and consultants working for governments and donors and,\r\n•\tFinancial institutions that support micro-entrepreneurs in agribusiness. FIT builds capacities of staff and consultants in financial institutions. \r\n\r\n\r\nStandards and Monitoring\r\n\r\nAll FIT projects are subject to continuous monitoring, feedback and regular reviews to ensure that the assignments are completed within prescribed timeframe and emerging issues consistently addressed.\r\n\r\nInstitutional Links\r\n\r\nNetworking is a fundamental component of FIT’s business strategy. FIT was established by ILO as a network of organisations in six East, Central and West Africa. The network provides FIT enormous opportunities experience sharing and support amongst the network members. FIT has received support from various donor agencies who include the Dutch Government, ILO Technical Assistance, Department for International Development (DfID) and Micro Enterprise Support Programme of the European Union.\r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 232, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2676, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 3640, "latitude": 5.485, "longitude": 7.035, "city": "Owerri", "state": "", "address_1": "GEODORA HOUSE, 152 TETLOW ROAD, OWERRI, IMO STATE, P.
