"description": "Since 1993, RCDC (Regional Centre for Development Cooperation) has been leading work focused on natural resource management and livelihoods for the development of Odisha. We understand that a holistic approach is necessary and we now address a broad spectrum of environment and people-centred issues - from forest, water and land rights, livelihoods and mining issues, to climate change and disaster risk reduction.\r\n\r\nOur proactive and informed approach has brought us acclaim and transformed lives in Odisha; our grassroots interventions, research and expertise informs our policy-level work, where we raise the debate and seek to influence key decision-making to bring benefits to the communities we aim to help.\r\n\r\nThe principle underlying our operations is that the appropriate management of natural resources is necessary to address current development problems in a lasting manner, and that the local communities - with their traditional knowledge and stakeholder interest - are the best managers of these resources.",

In 2016 Tamanaa ventured into rice processing and today is processing parboiled rice for the Ghanaian market. \n\n Raw materials (paddy rice) mainly comes from smallholder farmers in four districts within the catchment areas of the company. The farmers are organized into groups, but contracts are undertaken with individual farmers by Tamanaa. Women processors are equally organized in groups and engaged with written contractual agreements with the company for their services in rice par boiling.",

Aids Fonds finances scientific research; provides prevention and treatment for vulnerable groups; and fights for the rights of people with HIV.\r\n\r\nAids Fonds operates both in the Netherlands and internationally. In its home country, Aids Fonds has been involved in prevention, treatment, care and support for people with HIV and risk groups for 25 years. The unique Dutch approach has proved successful: overcoming taboos and doing everything necessary to tackle smaller outbreaks that could potentially combine to form one huge national epidemic. As a result, we use our expertise to fight the global AIDS problem. \r\n\r\nAIDS hits some groups harder than others – often people who are already in vulnerable situations, like men who have sex with men, drug users, sex workers and ethnic minorities. People with HIV are also vulnerable and frequently have to deal with stigma and discrimination. Aids Fonds fights for these people. The right to prevention, treatment, care and support is central here. \r\n",

"description": "SNV Netherlands Development Organization is a not-for-profit international development organization founded in the Netherlands nearly 50 years ago. Our mission is to promote inclusive development, systemic change, local ownership and contextualized solutions. Our team works with local partners to empower communities, businesses and organizations with the tools, knowledge and networks they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services – empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development. \r\n\r\nSNV has earned the respect and trust of the Ghanaian people over the past 22 years of uninterrupted service. SNV Ghana contributes to sustainable poverty reduction as articulated in the Ghana Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy, the national development blueprint, which is in line with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Since 2012, SNV has focused its activities in three main sectors; agriculture, renewable energy and water, sanitation & hygiene. An added key strength is our extensive local presence on the ground. SNV Ghana currently operates 4 offices located in Accra, Takoradi, Tamale and Wa, which enables us to implement large scale projects in 9 Regions allowing for strong relationships with the communities and resulting in measurable and positive change in the lives of vulnerable rural and urban populations. \r\n\r\nIn Ghana, SNV collaborates with a wide range of partners including Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), multinational & export companies, civil society and universities & research institutes. SNV is currently working in 376 communities to improve the health and quality of life for the rural and peri-urban households through enhanced access to improved sanitation and hygiene practices. In addition, SNV works to develop capacity in governance for empowerment, gender equity and social inclusion, and sanitation supply chain development and services as part of our interventions. \r\nOur current interventions in and around WASH benefit a total of 116,890 people directly, and over 2,551,435 people indirectly. SNV’s extensive experience, expertise and networks make us an attractive and trusted partner to major donors such as DGIS, DfID, the World Bank, USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Comic Relief and UNICEF. Our in-house expertise brings significant, relevant and proven experience in the WASH sector around fund management, business development services, market development, financial inclusion and capacity development. \r\n",

"description": "The International Center (IC) is a Washington, DC based 501(c) 3 non-profit organization founded in 1977 to focus on issues between the United States and the developing world. The International Center currently has programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The International Center has five programs: the U.S.-Vietnam Trade Council Education Forum, the New Forests Project, Veterans International/Cambodia, Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation and IC Sports Corps.\r\n\r\nThe U.S.-Vietnam Trade Council Education Forum (USVTC-EF) has played a major leadership role in building the relationship between the U.S. and Vietnam. USVTC-EF seeks the full normalization of U.S.-Vietnam relations; helps create essential policy frameworks for building a new economic partnership between the two nations; and provides assistance for the establishment of links that increase bilateral trade and investment. USVTC-EF has played a key role in the negotiation and implementation of the U.S.-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) and Vietnam's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and continues to work closely with Vietnam on next steps in Vietnam's economic integration and development.\r\n\r\nThe New Forests Project (NFP) supports reforestation and agroforestry projects in the developing world that protect and restore natural forests, reverse land degradation and promote land-use practices that increase productivity and sustainability. NFP consists of two protects: the World Seed Program and the Clean Water initiative. The World Seed Program supplies free seeds and other supplies to in-country partners who redistribute the seeds locally. NFP also provides agroforestry trainings, small grants for the purchase of equipment for reforestation efforts among other things. Since 1982, NFP has helped plant over 8 million trees around the globe. The Clean Water Initiative supports local water associations, committees and organizations in their efforts to provide clean, reliable water and sanitation services to rural communities in Central America and the Caribbean.\r\n\r\nVeterans International Cambodia (VIC) assists in the rehabilitation of Cambodians living with disabilities and helps them to lead active, fulfilling lives. VIC' s goal is to support victims of war and poverty who are often living on the margins of society. VIC supports three rehabilitation centers across Cambodia where people with disabilities receive rehabilitation services, prosthetics, orthotics, and other equipment. Patients also have the opportunity to meet with self- help groups and community organizations. These groups allow people with disabilities and their family members to socialize, share their experiences, and build self-confidence. Groups are given microloans to manage and start small, self-sustaining co-op projects such as fish farms or rice banks. Members are encouraged to have a voice and become involved in their community' s development.\r\n\r\nFounded in 1978, Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF) is a humanitarian organization that addresses the consequences of war through programs of advocacy and service in Vietnam. VVAF receives grants from the Department of State and other organizations to conduct landmine clearance projects in Vietnam with the Technology Centre for Bomb and Mine Disposal Engineering Command (BOMICEN). VVAF and its project partners carryout surveys to collect information about the prevalence and burden of the most common mental disorders and the effects this has on the individuals and their families. VVAF is also engaged in upgrading and constructing schools in various provinces around Vietnam.\r\n\r\nThe International Center' s Sports Corps Division aims to improve understanding between the people of developing countries and the United States through the medium of youth sports. Our sport exchange programs create a dynamic environment for youth of various SE Asian countries to better understand each other and demonstrate how sports can overcome economic, religious, and geographic differences. These exchange programs, mainly focusing on young women and their coaches, seek to empower, teach, and inspire these women to improve themselves and their communities through sport.",

We believe that water and sanitation are human rights. These essential services are vital for health, education and livelihoods; and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty. With the right political will, resources and drive \r\nwe believe that our vision is achievable. Yet 4,000 children die every day because they do not have access to safe water or sanitation. In the last 28 years we have reached 13 million people in Africa, Asia and the Pacific \r\nregion through our work with local partner organizations using appropriate and affordable technologies that communities can operate \r\nand maintain.\r\n",
