They are a non-denominational, non-governmental and non-political organisation.\r\n\r\nGOAL began implementing an emergency response programme in Kenya in 1983 to response to an influx of refugees from, what is now, South Sudan and to provide drought assistance in the Horn of Africa.\r\n\r\nThirty years later, GOAL Kenya is actively continuing our work to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.\r\n\r\nCurrently, the GOAL Kenya programme has offices in two locations, Nairobi and Marsabit.\r\n\r\nThe Nairobi programme comprises of integrated projects that target extremely vulnerable children, young people and marginalised populations living in Nairobi’s slums. \r\n\r\nGOAL’s programmes focus on children’s empowerment and protection (CEP), health, HIV and AIDS, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sectors.\r\n\r\nGOAL’s programme in Marsabit responds to the drought crisis that regularly affects communities living in northern Kenya’s arid lands. This is accomplished by increasing access to clean water and sanitation facilities and encouraging changes in hygienic behaviour. \r\n\r\nIssues of child protection, gender, environment, HIV and AIDS and livelihoods are also integrated into GOAL’s programmes in Kenya. The aim is to empower individuals and communities to access their rights, fulfil their potential and initiate real and sustainable change.\r\n\r\nGOAL also delivers emergency preparedness and response in Kenya. In recent years, we responded to the post-election violence of 2007 / 2008 by building houses for displaced families in the Nakuru valley. We also supported Somali refugees in Dadaab camp, north-western Kenya, by providing emergency shelter and constructing sanitation facilities. As the global network of people living with HIV, GNP+’s core strategy is to operationalise the GIPA principle at all levels of the global response through involving PLHIV in all aspects of the HIV response and related services. Since the founding of the organisation, GNP+’s core activities have centred on advocacy, information and knowledge management, and network and community strengthening. Advocacy has been the traditional focus of GNP+ and has included a range of strategies such as activism; campaign and \r\npolicy dialogue; programmes; and services. \r\nIn order to improve the advocacy efforts taken, GNP+ has increasingly invested its time and resources into action research and knowledge management to effectively communicate the information and evidence originating from said research. \r\nGNP+, as a network of networks, undertakes its daily work aided by management support from an international Secretariat and strategic guidance and oversight from the international Board. Through this network of networks structure, GNP+ has supported PLHIV to organise themselves to improve their lives and articulate their needs from the community level through international policy forums. GNP+ currently consists of six regional, autonomous PLHIV networks which serve as regional hubs for national and local networks. GNP+ also provides a platform for new and emerging PLHIV networks among specific populations and constituencies and through social media. The Y+ Programme for young PLHIV and the Positive Community, GNP+’s virtual community, are two such examples of key emerging networks and indicate GNP+’s ommitment \r\nto incorporate the many ways that PLHIV network with one another, be it based on geography and/or other associations.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 258, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 672, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 257, "latitude": -15.408193, "longitude": 28.287167, "city": "Lusaka", "state": "Lusaka Province", "address_1": "GENERAL NURSING COUNCIL OF ZAMBIA", "address_2": "P.
