One goal was to “reduce by half, the proportion of people without access to safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation” by the year 2015.\r\n \r\nTo help reach this goal, leading US-based non-governmental organizations working in water and sanitation formed the Millennium Water Alliance (MWA) as a 501(c)(3) organization to offer sustainable solutions through advocacy, shared knowledge, and collaborative programming. Our vision mirrors our belief that no one should die or suffer chronic illness as the result of a water-related disease.",

It provides a platform for dialogue for a cross section of land owners and land users including local community groups, private ranchers, pastoralists, small scale farmers and tourism ventures. The principal resource and strength of the LWF is its membership.\r\n\r\nMission:\r\nTo conserve Laikipia’s wildlife and ecosystem integrity and improve the lives of its people by bringing its societies together to conserve and sustainably use the natural resources on which they depend.\r\n\r\nVision:\r\nTo see a healthy and productive natural environment for people and wildlife for the future of Laikipia & Kenya.\r\n\r\nHistory:\r\nLWF was created in response to an initiative by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) designed to engage landowners and land users in the conservation and management of wildlife in non-protected areas. Since its inception in 1992 there has been a significant expansion of localised conservation effort and expertise in relation to wild animals. Whilst wild animals remain central to the conservation effort, LWF has taken an increasingly holistic approach with emphasis on cross-cutting environmental issues that affect larger sections of the population.",

ACC places emphasis on a three tier approach of integrating Knowledge, Environment and Livelihoods in resolving principal problems facing Biodiversity Conservation in East Africa. To achieve this, ACC serves a number of complimentary functions: Forging interdisciplinary approaches to Conservation advanced training, Research into issues with broad application and policy implications. ACC developed from a small nucleus of Kenya Nationals associated with Wildlife Conservation International (Kenya) WCI, a Division of NYZS the Wildlife Conservation Strategy to respond to conservation challenges in East Africa. In its formative years, ACC pioneered research methods in Ecosystems research and Ecotourism. It also pioneered Community-based Conservation concepts and practices. ACC selects pilot Conservation projects with a high chance of success and broad application in these areas ACC believes in saving African wildlife through sound Science, local initiatives, and good Governance. \r\n\r\nA primary aim is to bring together the people and skills needed to build East Africa’s capacity to conserve Wildlife. ACC achieves its Mission through programs that conserve Ecosystems and maintain continuous and open Landscapes and those that improve the incomes and Livelihoods of local Communities through the sustainable utilization of Wildlife and Natural Resources. ACC also seeks to establish strong Community-based institutional structures that address common and salient conservation and livelihood challenges. ACC’s conservation programs are based on a multi-pronged approach. Although the African Conservation Centre’s core mandate is conservation, this cannot take place in a vacuum. Communities impacted by conservation activities must become part and parcel of the total Conservation efforts. To this end, Scientists studying the conservation of Fauna and Flora or any other Natural Resources increasingly engage with Communities that share the relevant Ecosystems with the subjects of Conservation.",

"description": "WRMA was established as a corporate body through a gazette notice No. 8140 of 14th November 2003 pursuant to the Water Act (2002) and was operationalized in July 2005. The Authority is the lead agency in the management of water resources in the country and its overall development objective is to ensure rational, effective management of the water resources and equitable access for the various competing needs.\r\n\r\nWRMA operates in an environment where a number of stakeholders from other government institutions, the general public and private partners are directly or indirectly involved in activities which affect water resources. As the lead agency for water resources management, WRMA has to ensure that actions by all parties are well coordinated and contribute positively towards sustainable management of water resources. To realize this, WRMA has adopted the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), to coordinate management of water resources at top policy level and on the ground. In the process of executing its functions, the institution has moved closer to the people through its 6 regional and 26 sub-regional offices. The public is therefore encouraged to visit their nearest WRMA office whenever they have issues related to management of water resources.",

"description": "Independent Medico Legal Unit (IMLU) is a registered Non-Governmental human rights and governance organization that seeks a just world free from torture by promoting the rights of torture victims, survivors, and protects all Kenyans from all forms of state-perpetrated torture by employing a comprehensive mechanism in advocating for policy reforms, supervising government devotion to human rights, litigation and rehabilitation of torture victims through psychological and medical treatment and capacity building of key stakeholders.\r\n\r\nIMLU is the lead agency in a regional human rights network of torture organizations and an active member of several regional and international human rights networks, including African Network of Torture Rehabilitation Center, World Organization against Torture (OMCT), International Federation of Health and Human Rights Organizations (IFHHRO), and the Coalition for Effective Operation of the African Court.\r\n\r\nFurther, IMLU has been accredited by the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT) as a center for rehabilitation of torture victims and by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) as a Continuing Legal Education provider. Through its Board of Directors, IMLU spearheaded the creation of the Human Rights Committee within the Kenya Medical Association which it intends to continue nurturing and support human rights work within the medical fraternity.\r\n\r\nIMLU documents torture perpetration through forensic medical reports which aids in legal redress for torture victims. It exploits legal and advocacy means to seek justice for torture survivors since 1992. With time, we have gained the capacity to rehabilitate the victims of torture through provision of medical and psychological treatment, facilitating legal action and documenting cases of torture in Kenya. In furtherance of pushing for a torture free society, IMLU aggressively campaigns against the vice through the media and other outlets.\r\nSpanning a period of two decades, this work has been feasible via the remarkable endeavors of our network of professionals including doctors, psychological counselors, lawyers and grassroots human rights monitors and human rights defenders.",

Its basic quest is to work with political parties in terms of capacity building. \r\n\r\nKenya has a fluid political party landscape within a very open political environment for discussions about reforms. Political parties, however, are challenged to re-invent themselves from the current overly personality oriented parties to become more programmatic oriented parties. Out of cognition of these needs, the parties in CMD came together for a substantial dialogue of this kind.\r\n\r\nVision: \r\nTo promote the institutionalization of vibrant and democratic political parties capable of enhancing and perpetuating multiparty democracy in Kenya. \r\n\r\nMission Statement:\r\nTo facilitate the growth of and perpetuate multiparty democracy through the capacity building of political member parties in Kenya. "description": "Vijana Amani Pamoja – meaning ‘Peace Together Youth’ – was originally founded in 2000 as a soccer club by Enouce Ndeche who today is the organisation’s Executive Director.\r\n\r\nHaving witnessed the multitude of social and economic challenges faced by young people in Nairobi’s slums coupled with the huge popularity of soccer in Kenya, an idea was born: to use the sport as a tool for social development.\r\n\r\nSince those early days, Vijana Amani Pamoja – or VAP – has grown into a strong, community-based-organisation, located in the heart of the Eastlands area of Nairobi which is home to numerous slums and high poverty areas. VAP’s original beneficiaries are now leaders within the organisation which reaches thousands of vulnerable young people each year.\r\n\r\nThe organisation's mission is to integrate social and economic values through soccer by creating a pro-active health environment, and its' vision is a society that is healthy and socially and economically empowered. \r\n\r\nToday, the organisation delivers three soccer-inspired programs addressing HIV/AIDS, female empowerment and corruption in Kenya in Nairobi schools and community centres.\r\n\r\nEach program, lasting between three and six months, takes a two-pronged approach; firstly, participants are educated and informed on relevant health and social issues. Secondly, the self-esteem and confidence of participants are actively built to enable them to put their new found knowledge into action, making positive choices and resisting peer pressure.\r\n\r\nPrograms are delivered by peer educators, many of whom are local soccer stars, who act as role models.",

TLMI has been working with Christian Leprosy Hospital in Mawlamyine over (100) years now to take care of persons effective by leprosy in Myanmar.\r\nGiven the distribution of persons affected by leprosy throughout the country, we will never achieve rehabilitation for persons affected by leprosy unless they are included as part of wider rehabilitation plans.\r\nTogether with the Department of Social Welfare (DSW), TLMI is the focal agency for disability in Myanmar. Since 2004, TLMI expended its focus to include other types of disability other than leprosy to enable person with disabilities to be included into mainstream development programes.\r\n\r\nPeople disadvantaged by leprosy and other disabilities will be able to participate in the social economic life of their communities as equally valued members, able to realize their rights to mobility, economic self-sustainability and possesion utilization of valuable skills.",

"description": "The Rotary Club of Selkirk is made up of a group of like-minded people drawn from the local community who are driven to help others to flourish, both in our local community and beyond. We do this by using our collective skills to provide a service and/or raising funds for worthy causes locally or indeed for helping fund disaster relief and other charitable work anywhere in the world. Some of our commitments to the local community include:\r\n\r\nassisting senior students at the high school prepare for the world of work by offering them the opportunity to experience a work based competitive interview, through structured mock interviews,\r\nfunding youngsters to participate in our ‘Challenge Enterprise’ project, where they have the opportunity to learn from nationally respected business leaders how to succeed in our highly competitive world of business,\r\nsending young people on our Scotland wide ‘Rotary Youth Leadership Awards’ programme, where they have the chance to develop general life skills as well as their communication and leadership skills,\r\nsupporting the high school with providing our senior citizens with a bus trip during the summer months,\r\ndeveloping responsible citizenship principles amongst our younger kids through the ‘Rotakids’ programme.\r\nIt is clear to see from this list of activities that we are committed to ‘Youth Development’. We regard this as a vital component in ensuring our communities thrive and prosper well into the future.",
