Other parts are suffering from increasing poverty, erosion of education possibilities or augmenting violence and human rights violations.\r\nThe development challenges remain large in the new millennium. Against the widening gap between the few rich and the many poor, Helvetas sets its vision of a society:\r\n- which ensures that the basic needs of all people – men and women – are met and that they can live a life in dignity and peace\r\n- which guarantees all people the right of self-determination and allows them to participate in shaping their social and political environment\r\n- which manages its natural resources in a sustainable manner\r\n- which is based on organisations and institutions adhering to the principles of accountability, transparency, quality and efficiency\r\nFor its international programmes, Helvetas’ mission is:\r\n- to collaborate in a participatory manner with and for the benefit of the poor and underprivileged society groups in the poor regions of development and transition countries\r\n- to further promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between Switzerland and the partner countries as well as among the partner countries\r\n- to strengthen local structures and sustainable development and to promote human rights\r\n- to develop suitable measures that prevent or mitigate violent conflicts and contribute to mutually agreed and sustainable resolutions",

"description": "HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is one of the most experienced and largest development organisations in Switzerland. It came into existence on 1 July 2011 through the merger of two organisations: Helvetas (founded in 1955) and Intercooperation (founded in 1982). As a politically and denominationally neutral association, HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is supported by around 100,000 members and sponsors, as well as 12 regional groups of volunteers. Its team comprises about 1,200 local and 60 international employees (mainly Swiss) engaged in 32 partner countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. A total of 140 men and women work at the Berne and Zurich head offices and at the Lausanne and Balerna branch offices. They coordinate development projects, offer advisory services to government and non-government organisations, and raise awareness about issues facing people in developing countries and the possible solutions.",

"description": "BSP-Nepal has been working with RAIN Foundation since 2004 and is a trusted partner, with several years of experience with the implementation of rainwater harvesting systems and biogas systems. BSP-Nepal works throughout Nepal. Biogas Sector Partnership Nepal (BSP-Nepal) is the implementing agency of Biogas Support Programme (BSP) Phase-IV. BSP-Nepal was established as an NGO in 2003 to take over the implementation responsibility of BSP, which formerly was managed directly by the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV). \r\nSince BSP-Nepal took over the responsibilty of implementing BSP Phase-IV, it very much considers itself responsible for the development of the biogas sector, further strengthening and expanding the sector while at the same time interlinking it with the issues of other development sectors. Further, it has also embarked on promotion of rain waterharvesting systems and linking it with biogas promotion in areas where water is scarce.",

"description": "Australia protects its shipwrecks and their associated relics that are older than 75 years through the Historic Shipwrecks Act 1976. The Historic Shipwrecks Act applies to Australian waters that extend from the low tide mark to the end of the continental shelf and is administered in collaboration between the Commonwealth and the States, Northern Territory and Norfolk Island. Some Australian shipwreck sites lie within protected or no-entry zones.\r\n\r\nThe Historic Shipwrecks Act is delivered through the Historic Shipwrecks Program. Its objectives are to research, explore, document and protect Australia's historic shipwreck heritage. Each State or Territory program offers different opportunities for public participation as do maritime archaeological volunteer associations that exist in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.",

It is managed by the Central Cultural Fund and sponsored by the Netherlands Cultural Fund for specific projects. Following the early research and explorations connected with the Galle Harbour Project of 1992, the Central Cultural Fund (CCF) and the Department of Archaeology took the initiative to make maritime archaeologists and conservators out of the archaeology graduates from the relevant institutes and the universities. Our main intention is to develop the maritime archaeological field in Sri Lanka in order to protect our valuable underwater cultural heritage.\r\n\r\nThe Unit consists of an archaeological diving unit and a conservation laboratory, located on one of the jetties of the old harbour of Galle and a library and a computer unit inside the Galle fort. Team of maritime archaeologists and conservators from the Central Cultural Fund and other related institutes are working at Galle.",
