We began our work in 2005 with the financial support from ICCO in the Netherlands. \r\n\r\nCurrently, we have 32 full time staff and 109 teachers and 7 volunteers.\r\n\r\nBKAF is the largest alliance of adolescent girls in Bangladesh with more than half a million members and supporters. This is done through training and building networks of community Volunteer Peace Monitors (VPM) in rural communities. The VPMs work to mobilize People to seek justice in situations where formal justice is not accessible. They also help to settle disputes between people and groups, identify early warning signs of conflicts and embark on public education, advocacy, and conduct public awareness campaigns and transmit Peace and Human Rights messages.",

"description": "Established in 1972 to assist with relief and rehabilitation of greater Rangpur-Dinajpur immediately following the War of Independence, the RDRS programme evolved into a sectoral then comprehensive effort. Formerly the Bangladesh field programme of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Service, RDRS became an autonomous national NGO in 1997. RDRS however maintains strong international connections. With LWF (as an Associate Programme); with ACT International; with its core partner agencies mainly in Europe, North America and Japan; and with regional networks such as AZEECON, SAGA and others.\r\n\r\nRDRS came into being at the time of Bangladesh’s War of Independence, in 1971. Set up by the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) to help refugees fleeing conflict across the border, it returned with them after liberation to carry out much-needed rehabilitation in the devastated and long-neglected northwest – greater Rangpur - Dinajpur Districts. In 1976, a sectoral development programme was launched to assist the poorest in agriculture, community development, health and women’s economic activities. Construction of roads, bridges, markets and schools continued.\r\nDuring these years, RDRS was the leading non-governmental agency in the northwest. It is also credited with introducing many major innovations: the treadle pump (its most famous invention, allowing crops to be grown in winter); wheat production and other crop diversification; vegetable gardens; and, women’s advancement, not least the picture of women on bicycles.\r\nBy the late 1980s, an integrated Comprehensive programme superseded its sectoral work, focused on conscientisation and group organization of the poor, emphasizing social, educational and economic elements. Physical infrastructure development continued under the Rural Works Project. \r\nSince then, RDRS successes have included the ‘greening the north’ through its roadside and homestead tree plantation programme; improving life on the chars (river islands on the Brahmaputra); raising awareness of women’s rights; promoting savings, credit and skills training to improve the livelihoods of the poor and, the emergence of Union Federations - self-managed people’s organisations of the rural poor. \r\nThe RDRS programme continues to evolve and innovate. Current realities mean the programme now comprises a range of various projects and financing, large and small, which all contribute to following vision and mission.\r\n\r\nVision \r\n\r\nThe achievement by the rural poor of meaningful political, social, and economic empowerment, peace and justice and a sustainable environment through their individual and collective effort.\r\n\r\nMission \r\n\r\nRDRS works with the rural poor & their organization \r\n• Build their capacity and confidence\r\n• Claim and establish their rights\r\n• Promote good governance\r\n• Improve access to resources and services \r\n\r\n",

It recognizes that malnutrition and easily preventable diseases are large contributors to under five child death worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Accordingly, it carries out projects centered around water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), nutrition and safe motherhood in Bangladesh and Nepal with plans to expand further in these countries as well as in others. With its business-driven approach the Max Foundation aims to be as effective and sustainable possible via proven and innovative approaches on community strengthening, by achieving maximum impact with scarce resources, institutional embedding, and sustainable market models. The Max foundation envisions a world where easily preventable disease and malnutrition are no longer the cause of mortality for children under the age of five. \r\n\r\nThe three intervention pillars incorporated in the Max Foundation Projects:\r\n•\tWater, Sanitation and hygiene (WASH)\r\n•\tNutrition \r\n•\tSexual reproductive health (SRH)\r\n\r\nFor more information see www.maxfoundation.nl ",

(KFI) is a non-government, non-profit and development-oriented organization, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in July 1989 to respond to the widening social and economic gap and the growing animosity between the Moros, the Lumads and the Christian Settlers in Central Mindanao. In its early years of operation, KFI was working mostly within Cotabato City to facilitate inter-faith dialogues among the tri-people and to build awareness on the possibility of co-existence. The Organization’s work was later on expanded to providing livelihood assistance and community services to the marginalized groups in the city. With the great demand of such initiatives, KFI extended its operations to several other municipalities of Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, North Cotabato, with special projects in Lanao del Sur, Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi.\r\n\r\nToday, KFI has a total of 64 administrative staff, development and field experts working on community organizing and strengthening; providing community services such as health campaigns, water and sanitation; facilitating agricultural and livelihood development; coordinating disaster management and peace building.",

To date, programs supported by the Global Fund have provided AIDS treatment for 3.6 million people, anti-tuberculosis treatment for 9.3 million people and 270 million insecticide-treated nets for the prevention of malaria. The Global Fund works in close collaboration with other bilateral and multilateral organizations to supplement existing efforts in dealing with the three diseases.\r\nVision: A world free from the burden of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria\r\nMission: Investing the world’s money to save lives\r\n",
