This was as a result of deliberations that took place at a satellite meeting preceding the International Aids Conference in Durban in 2000. National Nurses Associations had in their own countries been working on improving the conditions for nurses, however in the absence of mechanisms to share best practices; they had been left to re invent the wheel.\r\nNurses and midwives of the region realized that they have to join hands in the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic that was and is still hitting the SADC region hard. Thus this network was formed. SANNAM has made tremendous strides towards strengthening NNAs/NNOs (National Nursing Associations/Organisations) through capacity building, networking and sharing of best practices. Its 15 member NNOs/NNAs currently represent over 200,000 Nurses and Midwives. \r\n\r\nThis regional structure is registered in terms of the Non-profit Organizations Act of 1997 in South Africa and coordinates all projects from its Secretariat established at 605 Church Street (DENOSA Headquarters), Pretoria 0001, South Africa. \r\n\r\nThe Secretariat is led by an Executive Director, supported by a qualified Finance Officer and an Administrative Secretary and overseen by an Executive Committee of five members, who are presidents of member NNAs/NNOs. The secretariat ensures the effective implementation and management of regional projects through coordinating meetings, contracting services effectively, and monitoring and evaluation. It also serves to strengthen the network and ensure that programmes are integrated through sharing information and consolidating the organisation. \r\nThe Secretariat is managed in agreement with labour regulations of the host country (South Africa) and collaborates with SADC Secretariat Health Sector and HIV/AIDS Unit for regional concerns and partnership in some projects. Member NNAs/NNOs are legal entities registered in their countries. The organization has initiated negotiations with the SADC secretariat for long –term sustainability.\r\n\r\nSANNAM collaborate with other regional and international organizations such as: CIDA through CNA, ICN, WHO – Afro, ILO, UNAIDS, EQUINET, Universities…and is member of the GHWA.\r\n\r\nSANNAM has received support from CORDAID since 2009 to implement a 2 year project that aimed at improving the working conditions of Nurses and Midwives in the region through strengthening the lobbying and advocating capacity of NNAs/NNOs. The results of this project inspired the need to further enhance advocacy capacity of Nursing and Midwifery leaders at national and peripheral level for effective involvement in decision making and influencing health policies.\r\n\r\nSANNAM vision is: Improved regional health services through strengthening National Nurses Associations/Organisations (NNAs/NNOs); its activities focus on: networking, capacity building, experiences sharing, twinning partnership, lobby and advocacy, research (not well developed) and support to members (e.g coaching and solidarity interventions).", of Cape Town, in South Africa, also registered as a Charity in UK (1151795) and we are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests as a private operating foundation under 503 (c) (3) in USA. \r\n\r\nZimbabwe AHEAD Organisation was originally founded by Juliet and Anthony Waterkeyn in Zimbabwe where our projects have been leading the field in terms of innovative community mobilisation strategies for hygiene behaviour change in the Water and Sanitation Sector. \r\n\r\nWe continue to direct Zimbabwe AHEAD and have partnered many international NGOs (Oxfam, CARE, Mercy Corps, ACF etc) for the past 20 years, with funding from Danida, Unicef, FAO, EU, DfiD, New Zealand Aid and USAID amongst others. \r\n\r\nWe are the originators of the Community Health Club (CHC) Model of development which is now being used extensively in Africa and are seeking funding to support CHC projects with requests from Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, DRC, Namibia, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Haiti. \r\n\r\nWe are actively seeking support to achieve our ambitious targets in our five year strategy: Challenge 5 x 5. \r\n\r\nThe Challenge 5 x 5: \r\nto reduce 5 main diseases which are the main killers of children under 5 in 5 million families at under US$5 per person in the next 5 years (2014 - 2019). \r\n\r\nWith our long experience using this approach and our research (Waterkeyn & Cairncross, 2005) we are confident that the Community Health Club Model can be reliably predicted to provide ethical hygiene behaviour change at scale within one year at under $5 per person, when taken to scale.\r\n\r\nThe most successful uptake of our approach is in Rwanda, where the CHC model has been taken to scale throughout the country in the Community Based Environmental Health Promotion Programme, with all villages in the country being directed by MoH to manage their own hygiene through 15,000 Community Health Clubs. This flagship project is being supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through the Ministry of Health, who are currently conducting a Randomised Control Trial through IPA (Innovations for Poverty Action) to establish the impact of CHCs on community health. \r\n\r\nOur team is a dedicated group of local development practitioners based out of Zimbabwe and Rwanda, committed to assisting rural and urban communities in developing countries improve their standards of living through safe hygiene, water, sanitation and poverty alleviation, women's empowerment, food security and sustainable livelihoods using Community Health Clubs as a vehicle for change. \r\n\r\nTo this end we provide assistance in all aspects of a CHC programme, including feasibility, design, development of training materials, training of trainers, research, monitoring and evaluation, and are the foremost organization for research, dissemination, advocacy and mentoring in the Community Health Club Approach. \r\n\r\nWe support local and international NGOs, Agencies and particularly strengthening Environmental Health Departments within Ministries of Health in Africa. The Health Commission operates under the guidance of The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), which is the highest policy making Council of Bishops responsible for the running and management of pastoral and social teaching of the Catholic Church in Malawi. The Health Commission operates within the field of HBC in terms of HIV prevention, care and support interventions based on the principles developed under the umbrella of ECM Home Based Care projects. Its vision is to have a healthy Society that is able to access improved and affordable Health Services. It identifies itself by a mission which is continuation of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ through promotion of human life by coordinating and providing affordable Health Services to rural and urban areas in Malawi. As such Health Commission is also responsible for facilitating and monitoring the quality of Health services in the diocese. The Commission works with Community Based Organisations (CBO) to reach out to the needy people in various communities within its parishes. Consequently, the implementation of interventions in HBC depends greatly on the role played by community volunteers that are closely working with the immediate caregivers. Therefore, the support the church is providing to the community groups has helped and encouraged communities to respond positively in caring and supporting the HBC clients within the respective communities. During the last three years with support from Cordaid, the Commission has a record of success stories in issues of mobilisation of community volunteers such that it has created a good network of volunteers and the health facilities within its catchment areas. The goal of Careermate is to usher more people into vocations or career fields generally considered as less prestigious but were employment or livelihood opportunities abound. E.g. Agriculture or Arts, Entertainment.\r\n\r\nOur target is young people in two transitional stages of our education system i.e. senior secondary school and vocational training, where progression to higher level education is severely limited.\r\n\r\nCareermate has three strategic programme components;\r\n\r\n1. Career guidance - this is concerned with developing career guidance materials and sharing them with youths. The unique feature of this component is the way it uses ICT to enhance the appeal of career information and making it more interactive and interesting to young people. Here we use videos, high quality graphics as well as interactive content to fully engage the youths. The content is characterized by inspirational interviews and documentation of tasks performed in a particular job.\r\n\r\n2. Sharing and Networking - the key feature of this component is activities to link youths to experts, knowledge and other leveraging initiatives. In this component we offer young people access to our digital library as well as conduct face-face career talks in training centers. During this time we share the career content we generate as well those our partners send us. Starting next year 2012, Careermate will embark on a programme to assist schools especially those with problems accessing Internet, to create more digital educational libraries of DVDs.\r\n\r\nAnother interesting feature of this component is the learning exchange. Here we are trying to facilitate learning exchange programmes with other youths within and outside the country.\r\n\r\n3. Talent Development ; this component is concerned with assisting youths with talents to further develop their talents by offering them basic tools, facilities to practice. For instance, we offer our members access to music instruments to learn how to use them, or coaching and validation/contests on public speaking.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 103, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 672, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 257, "latitude": -15.408193, "longitude": 28.287167, "city": "Lusaka", "state": "Lusaka Province", "address_1": "GENERAL NURSING COUNCIL OF ZAMBIA", "address_2": "P.
