In this way a fundamental contribution is given to the development of structural provisions for childsren with a seemingly hopeless future.\r\n\r\nTwo kilometers from Bodhgaya, where according to the tradition The Buddha reached enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in hte world-famous Mahabodhi temple, a children village was built with associated infrastructure. In accordance with the local culture the village for children is called \"Lord Buddha Home for Children\". This complex facilitates in a shelter for hundred children, girls as well boys, in small family houses for 10 children each. The children are raised by their \"own\" mother, who gives them the loved and respect they deserve. A health centre wich is also available for the local community, a pray- annex recreation building and staff rooms are part of the village. A primary school will soon get under construction. Since this year there is also a vocational training centre, wich is also available for the children and youth from the local community.\r\nThe buildings are surrounded by a play yard, sportfields, a kitchen garden and soon here will be a small farm for hte kids.\r\n\r\nBecause of the numbers and the problems of the outcast children in Bodhgaya region, it's impossible to house all the outcast children in the village. To prevent theze children from derailing, The \"Lord Buddha Home for Children\" provides Community Empowerment programs about health care, education and employment for these children and their families. If the billions of rural poor only have a bush knife as tool, then the water pump they may need should be made with only that bush knife and resources available to them. \r\n\r\nIf these billions of rural poor would be motivated by the quality of an adequate design made available to them they would put this information to practice. \r\n\r\nHow with such limited means crucial quality can be achieved is mission and task of Foundation \"Demotech, design for self-reliance\". Demotech finds such solutions by tenacious research in its laboratory and during field work, Experience gained is shared with for whom it matters in its website, video-reporting and published papers.\r\n\r\nThe Demotech Rope Pump design from 1975, first field tested in 1976 in Burkina Faso, embodied many of the required qualities for unsupported self-sustained use at the Bottom of the Pyramid. Demotech and others have reported where, when and how this happened. \r\nPopularity of the Rope Pump design induced some NGO's to partly subsidized providing of this water pump, often with a more centralized manufacture with industrial means. In practice this led to the same failure of other industrial produced hand pumps due to difficulty to maintain and find spare parts while numbers of pumps realized where a fraction of set targets.\r\n\r\nOn our website you will find many projects that are designed with a similar approach. Examples are, Hydraulic Rampumps, Furniture, Administration system, Sanitation, Transport, Engineering for the Bottom of the Pyramid work shops, etc. \r\n\r\nAgain Demotech sees it as its task to generate, field test and publish a design for a hand driven water pump that fulfills all criteria for rapid self-reliant and self-sustained application required for reaching Millennium Development Goals. Design targets are set higher then in 1975. Functional performance to be equal or better then existing hand pumps to depth of 70 meters. Cost within the reach of the extreme poor (<1$/p/day). Made with local materials and tools only, according to local craft practice. Self-explaining setup and construction limits need for training to demonstration and peer-to-peer spread of knowledge. \r\n\r\nBench marks of success will be immediate un-invited, un-subsidized copying of the water pump where demonstrated and needed. A bench mark that takes more time to set is development of income generation by manufacture and local selling of the rope pump. A third bench mark is the occurrence of change in life-style because of easier access to water. \r\n\r\nRe-design is Demotech's job. Demotech explores and puts to practice the possibilities of a different approach to development, which takes into account the social construction of technology and critically deals with the process of their innovation and implementation. Demotech treats people as creators of development and active collaborators in the process of shaping technology.\r\n\r\nAll the work that it takes to realize such bench marks describes best how our organization Demotech functions and performs: all but easy going!", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 164, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 366, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 203, "latitude": 52.379005, "longitude": 4.871727, "city": "Amsterdam", "state": "Noord-Holland", "address_1": "c/o Aidenvironment", "address_2": "Donker Curtiusstraat 7-523", "postcode": "1051JL", "iati_country": "NL", "country": 3, "location_target": 366 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/3a/ef/3aef692dc3fdb4f99acbad5ba6fb21c9.jpg", "latitude": "52.379005", "longitude": "4.871727", "city": "Amsterdam", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2011-06-01T17:07:38+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:53.721187+01:00", "name": "EMF", "long_name": "The Ecological Management Foundation", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "C", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 70, "iati_org_id": "NL-KVK-41209391", "url": "http://www.emf.nl/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+31-(0)20-5818250", "mobile": "+31-(0)611332383", "fax": "+31-(0)20-6866251", "contact_person": "Frederik Claasen", "contact_email": "info@emf.nl", "description": "The Ecological Management Foundation (EMF) is a typical non-profit, network organization: the head office is based in Amsterdam and staffed by a committed group of part-time employees and volunteers; several partner organizations around the world share the same ideals and ambitions and provide support where and when needed.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, EMF is dedicated to improving access to clean water and sanitation facilities in developing countries. These partnerships allow all people involved to grow their talents and enable individuals and communities to create a better future for themselves.\r\n\r\nSEE stands for Social and Economical Empowerment. SEE also stands for seeing: seeing possibilities, seeing others, seeing strengths, seeing a future. Trust stands for a business trust, and also for trusting: trusting people and their abilities, trusting the creative potential of partnerships.\r\n\r\nWomen entrepreneurship:\r\n\r\nWomen are major players in social development, because of their natural tendency to focus on the well-being of children and communities as a whole. In poor communities where children are very vulnerable and family-structures are fragile (because of the Aids epidemic, high unemployment and substance abuse), that focus is much needed.\r\n\r\nOur aim is to establish partnerships between entrepreneurial women in South Africa and the Netherlands. Women who want to address societal issues, and who – to make a real impact – do so by joining forces with other entrepreneurial women.\r\n\r\nOur activities focus on:\r\n- connecting people, opportunities and resources: we connect entrepreneurial women with one another, with markets, with investors and/or sponsors\r\n- enabling mutual learning: we organise network meetings (locally and internationally), so that participants can act as a source of inspiration, support and learning for each other\r\n- developing expertise and know-how: we will research – in collaboration with univerisities – what the key factors are in growing women entrepreneurship and developing healthy, self-sustaining communities", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 541, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] } ] }{ "count": 6073, "next": "
