We are on the ground in 177 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners.\r\n\r\nWorld leaders have pledged to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, including the overarching goal of cutting poverty in half by 2015. UNDP's network links and coordinates global and national efforts to reach these Goals. Our focus is helping countries build and share solutions to the challenges of:\r\n\r\nDemocratic Governance\r\nPoverty Reduction\r\nCrisis Prevention & Recovery\r\nEnvironment & Energy\r\nHIV/AIDS\r\n\r\nUNDP helps developing countries attract and use aid effectively. In all our activities, we encourage the protection of human rights, capacity development and the empowerment of women.\r\n\r\nThe annual Human Development Report, commissioned by UNDP, focuses the global debate on key development issues, providing new measurement tools, innovative analysis and often controversial policy proposals. The global Report's analytical framework and inclusive approach carry over into regional, national and local Human Development Reports, also supported by UNDP.\r\n\r\nIn each country office, the UNDP Resident Representative normally also serves as the Resident Coordinator of development activities for the United Nations system as a whole. The innovative six-year programme (2013-2018) facilitates partnerships between the public sector, the private sector and civil society. It addresses shared water risks on a catchment scale, while improving stakeholders’ use and management of water and building their capacity to develop their own solutions.\r\n\r\nThe programme is currently active in seven countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa on the African continent and Grenada and Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. IWaSP is receiving a growing demand and expansion into further countries is planned.\r\n\r\nIWaSP enables partners to adopt a comprehensive and cost-effective approach to managing water risks for people, businesses and ecosystems. Typical results include pollution reduction, improved access to water, increased water storage, improved water infrastructure, rehabilitated ecosystems, strengthened water governance, improved catchment specific relationships of key actors and enhanced collaborative action.\r\n\r\nThe Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH works to develop lasting solutions for sustainable development and manages IWaSP on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the UK Department for International Development (DfID).\r\n\r\nThe programme has a total funding of over EUR27m., of which BMZ has committed EUR6m, and DfID a total of EUR21.4m to the programme. In Africa, the world’s youngest continent, youth employment is a particularly important measure of poverty reduction.\r\n\r\nAfrica’s young people are building a better future for the continent, but they cannot do it alone. We believe in their potential — and we are honoured to accompany them on their journey.\r\n\r\nThe Mastercard Foundation seeks a world where everyone has the opportunity to learn and prosper. The Foundation’s work is guided by its mission to advance learning and promote financial inclusion for people living in poverty. One of the largest foundations in the world, it works almost exclusively in Africa. It was created in 2006 by Mastercard International and operates independently under the governance of its own Board of Directors.\r\n\r\nThe Foundation is currently working in 29 countries across Africa. With Young Africa Works, we will deepen our engagement in some countries in partnership with governments and the private sector to better understand their economic aspirations and identify priority sectors for growth.\r\n\r\nWe will develop a long-term plan for each country of focus that will:\r\n* Improve the quality of education and vocational training so that they equip young people with the skills employers need;\r\n* Leverage technology to connect employers and job seekers, and drive growth; and\r\n* Enable entrepreneurs and small businesses to expand through access to financial services.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": true, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 6369, "content_owner": 4239, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 4238, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 5616, "latitude": -1.233421, "longitude": 36.815143, "city": "", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "KE", "country": 27, "location_target": 4238 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/7f/13/7f136abadcb5bd2c7103dfa9715f4f26.jpg", "latitude": "-1.233421", "longitude": "36.815143", "city": "", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2017-05-11T14:40:06.195937+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2017-05-11T14:44:17.249263+02:00", "name": "OHCHR", "long_name": "The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights", "language": "en", "organisation_type": null, "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 21, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.ohchr.org/EN/pages/home.aspx", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Marcella Favretto", "contact_email": "mfavretto@ohchr.org", "description": "The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) represents the world's commitment to universal ideals of human dignity.
