In its home country, Aids Fonds has been involved in prevention, treatment, care and support for people with HIV and risk groups for 25 years. The unique Dutch approach has proved successful: overcoming taboos and doing everything necessary to tackle smaller outbreaks that could potentially combine to form one huge national epidemic. As a result, we use our expertise to fight the global AIDS problem. \r\n\r\nAIDS hits some groups harder than others – often people who are already in vulnerable situations, like men who have sex with men, drug users, sex workers and ethnic minorities. As the global network of people living with HIV, GNP+’s core strategy is to operationalise the GIPA principle at all levels of the global response through involving PLHIV in all aspects of the HIV response and related services. Since the founding of the organisation, GNP+’s core activities have centred on advocacy, information and knowledge management, and network and community strengthening. Advocacy has been the traditional focus of GNP+ and has included a range of strategies such as activism; campaign and \r\npolicy dialogue; programmes; and services. \r\nIn order to improve the advocacy efforts taken, GNP+ has increasingly invested its time and resources into action research and knowledge management to effectively communicate the information and evidence originating from said research. \r\nGNP+, as a network of networks, undertakes its daily work aided by management support from an international Secretariat and strategic guidance and oversight from the international Board. Through this network of networks structure, GNP+ has supported PLHIV to organise themselves to improve their lives and articulate their needs from the community level through international policy forums. GNP+ currently consists of six regional, autonomous PLHIV networks which serve as regional hubs for national and local networks. GNP+ also provides a platform for new and emerging PLHIV networks among specific populations and constituencies and through social media. We oppose the criminalisation of people simply on the basis of what drugs they choose to use, and fight to document, expose and stop the human rights abuses that are carried out against the drug using community, whether in the name of drug control, treatment, or security. A special focus of our advocacy is on the impact of repressive legal environment on the spread of HIV amongst the injecting community. We advocate for the revocation of laws that criminalise drug use, and argue for supportive legal environments, as well as for the provision of both needle and syringe exchange, and opioid substitution programmes. Over the years, NSWP has conducted activities in partnership with other organisations, and the principle of the participation of sex workers in policy and programme development has been accepted at many levels. Despite lacking resources and recognition, the NSWP has influenced policy and built leadership among sex workers and facilitated the development of regional and national networks of sex workers and sex work projects. Significantly, NSWP participation in the global response to HIV/AIDS was largely responsible for the term 'sex worker' replacing 'prostitute'. More than mere political correctness, this shift in language had the important effect of moving global understandings of sex work toward a labour framework which signposts solutions to many of the problems faced by sex workers. It also questions the stigma of sex work and represents greater recognition of sex workers as rights bearers, with the capacity to make a difference. As a result of NSWP advocacy, female, male and transgender sex workers have presented the case for protection of their human rights at international forums such as international and regional conferences on AIDS, the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing 1995, UNGASS, the UNAIDS Programme Co-ordinating Board and the Global Fund consultations. The NSWP successfully lobbied for wording of the UN convention against trafficking in persons (the Palermo Protocol) to ensure that trafficking is defined as including force or coercion. NSWP, along with its regional networks, was also successful in urging UNAIDS to reconsider its 2007 policy guidelines on HIV and sex work.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the NSWP, through its member organisations, published Making Sex Work Safe and a regular journal (Research for Sex Work); maintains global and regional listservs; and manages a website containing some of the most influential and important work on HIV and sex work. The NSWP’s work has been widely acknowledged and NSWP regional networks and members have received various awards.\r\n\r\nFollowing an organisational review completed in 2007, which recommended the NSWP formalise its membership structure, becoming a network of organisations (rather than individuals) and establishing a secretariat in the global north, the Global Network of Sex Work Projects (NSWP) registered as a not-for-profit private company limited by guarantee, with its registered office in Scotland, in October 2008.\r\n\r\nThe Global Network of Sex Work Projects exists to uphold the voice of sex workers globally and connect regional networks advocating for the rights of female, male and transgender sex workers. It advocates for rights based health and social services, freedom from abuse and discrimination, and self determination for sex workers. \r\n\r\nNSWP members are united by common core beliefs and values and are committed to: \r\n- Acceptance of sex work as work\r\n- Opposition to all forms of criminalisation of sex work (including sex workers, clients, management and others related to sex workers)\r\n- Support for self-organisation and self-determination of sex workers\r\n\r\nNSWP is led by sex workers; member organisations are therefore expected to be sex worker-led and to ensure the meaningful participation of sex workers in every level of their organisation. Regions are expected to ensure the voices of female, male and transgender sex workers are heard within their region as well as giving voice to sex workers living with HIV and those using drugs. \r\n\r\nAdditionally all members must be committed to challenging stigma and discrimination, to defending human rights, to challenging policies and practices that negatively affect the lives and health of sex workers, and to promoting rights based services and policies. \r\n \r\nThe NSWP aims are to:\r\n- provide practical information and opportunities for information sharing among organisations and projects which provide services to men, women, and transsexuals who work in the sex industry.\r\n- raise awareness of the health and welfare needs of sex workers. \r\n- advocate at regional and global level for policies and action, which further the human rights of sex workers. These rights include the right to health and a safe working environment free from abuse, violence, and discrimination. \r\n- develop and maintain links between service providers, sex worker organisations and relevant international institutions and agencies. \r\n- facilitate opportunities for the voices of sex workers to be heard in relevant international forums. \r\n\r\nThe NSWP conducts a mix of pro-active and re-active policy advocacy to support human rights and evidence based approaches to female, male and transgendered sex workers and strengthening sex worker communities. The work is arranged around: \r\na) Communications and advocacy. Information relevant to sex workers human rights and health is not sufficiently accessible, particularly for those who do not read English. The NSWP summarises, translates and distributes relevant information to it members and beyond. This is particularly important for places where there are no organised sex workers groups or rights based sex work programmes. Five languages have currently been prioritised - Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. NSWP advocacy is supported by policy analysis, research and consultation with members. \r\nb) Building Capacity and Solidarity - Training and skills building for and among sex worker organisations and leaders is achieved by developing and providing tools, training, space and support on issues such as human rights, health interventions, law and policy, ethics and technologies.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 435, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 701, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 322, "latitude": 40.752596, "longitude": -73.992757, "city": "New York City", "state": "New York", "address_1": "494 8th Avenue", "address_2": "Suite 505", "postcode": "10001", "iati_country": "US", "country": 5, "location_target": 701 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/a2/61/a261205df92291b660e3b2d5b6c5aca8.jpg", "latitude": "40.752596", "longitude": "-73.992757", "city": "New York City", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-06-27T16:50:01+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:56.482479+01:00", "name": "ITPC", "long_name": "International Treatment Preparedness Coalition", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://itpcglobal.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "917-216-4672", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Solange Baptiste", "contact_email": "sbaptiste@itpcglobal.com", "description": "ITPC is a network of people living with HIV, their treatment activists, and their supporters dedicated to enabling effective, affordable, quality health care for all PLHIV, with a focus on key affected populations, that supports HIV treatment and health literacy, decision making, and comprehensive treatment-focused advocacy for individuals and communities.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 322, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 700, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 46, "latitude": 45.42572, "longitude": 28.031044, "city": "Galati", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "800058", "iati_country": "RO", "country": 15, "location_target": 700 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/7d/5b/7d5b60157af97eb513f591893e01d0db.jpg", "latitude": "45.42572", "longitude": "28.031044", "city": "Galati", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-06-27T13:38:07+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:50.707709+01:00", "name": "APĀ CANAL S.A. In empowering the Loita Maasai, the short term objective is to alleviate poverty and improve the socio-economic status of the community by promoting development initiatives that are relevant to Loita culture and which support their interaction in society. \r\n\"Unreachable\" aptly describes the Loita Maasai pastoralists. They are a subset of the Maasai community whose population of about 30,000 occupies an area of south western Kenya. The region is remote without effective infrastructure. This, combined with Loita's reputation asthe most conservative of the Maasai, has contributed to this their status as one of the nearly 'unreachable' people of the world. \r\nOver the years, ILIDP has seen some evolution in its approaches and intervention. Formerly the Bangladesh field programme of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Service, RDRS became an autonomous national NGO in 1997. RDRS however maintains strong international connections. With LWF (as an Associate Programme); with ACT International; with its core partner agencies mainly in Europe, North America and Japan; and with regional networks such as AZEECON, SAGA and others.\r\n\r\nRDRS came into being at the time of Bangladesh’s War of Independence, in 1971. Set up by the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) to help refugees fleeing conflict across the border, it returned with them after liberation to carry out much-needed rehabilitation in the devastated and long-neglected northwest – greater Rangpur - Dinajpur Districts. In 1976, a sectoral development programme was launched to assist the poorest in agriculture, community development, health and women’s economic activities. Construction of roads, bridges, markets and schools continued.\r\nDuring these years, RDRS was the leading non-governmental agency in the northwest. It is also credited with introducing many major innovations: the treadle pump (its most famous invention, allowing crops to be grown in winter); wheat production and other crop diversification; vegetable gardens; and, women’s advancement, not least the picture of women on bicycles.\r\nBy the late 1980s, an integrated Comprehensive programme superseded its sectoral work, focused on conscientisation and group organization of the poor, emphasizing social, educational and economic elements. Physical infrastructure development continued under the Rural Works Project. \r\nSince then, RDRS successes have included the ‘greening the north’ through its roadside and homestead tree plantation programme; improving life on the chars (river islands on the Brahmaputra); raising awareness of women’s rights; promoting savings, credit and skills training to improve the livelihoods of the poor and, the emergence of Union Federations - self-managed people’s organisations of the rural poor. \r\nThe RDRS programme continues to evolve and innovate. Current realities mean the programme now comprises a range of various projects and financing, large and small, which all contribute to following vision and mission.\r\n\r\nVision \r\n\r\nThe achievement by the rural poor of meaningful political, social, and economic empowerment, peace and justice and a sustainable environment through their individual and collective effort.\r\n\r\nMission \r\n\r\nRDRS works with the rural poor & their organization \r\n• Build their capacity and confidence\r\n• Claim and establish their rights\r\n• Promote good governance\r\n• Improve access to resources and services \r\n\r\n", "notes": "Removed duplicate organisation 1854", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 498, "content_owner": 693, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 692, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 509, "latitude": -0.303099, "longitude": 36.080026, "city": "Nakuru", "state": "Rift Valley", "address_1": "p/a Hotel Rift Valley Sports Club", "address_2": "Kenyatta Avenue", "postcode": "00200", "iati_country": "KE", "country": 27, "location_target": 692 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/4f/ae/4fae399ebaac2d778f77a55761e4e9df.jpg", "latitude": "-0.303099", "longitude": "36.080026", "city": "Nakuru", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-06-12T09:46:29+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-08-06T11:57:22.200751+02:00", "name": "Rotary Club Nakuru", "long_name": "Rotary Club Nakuru", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Gerard Kamstra", "contact_email": "info@kamstramediation.nl", "description": "Rotary Club Nakuru werkt samen met Rotary Club Hoorn aan de oplossing, waarbij de vrouwen centraal staan.\r\nDeze samenwerking resulteert in 2010 in ca 1000 tanks(T1), daarbij worden ook 1000 toiletten in gebruik genomen (T2), worden 1000 x 100 bomen geplant (T3), via Table Banking, microkredieten verschaft (T4), inmiddels ruim 4700 moeders en vrouwen geschoold en getraind in het project (T5), start de verandering “The Transformation” ook voor deze 1000 families (T6)", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 509, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 68, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 555, "latitude": 56.661445, "longitude": 16.362723, "city": "Kalmar", "state": "Kalmar", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "SE", "country": 18, "location_target": 68 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/6e/83/6e832ca42f57208b7729c0ec22a75600.jpg", "latitude": "56.661445", "longitude": "16.362723", "city": "Kalmar", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2009-01-27T16:43:02+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:57:00.814689+01:00", "name": "SI/E Sweden", "long_name": "Soroptimist Club Kalmar, Sweden", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.soroptimistsweden.se/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 555, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 689, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 621, "latitude": 52.075072, "longitude": 4.356649, "city": "Voorburg", "state": "", "address_1": "Jacob v.d.
