"description": "iDE Burkina Faso is a non-profit social enterprise aimed at increasing the incomes and livelihoods of smallholder farmers in rural Burkina. This mission is executed through the design and market development of agricultural technologies suited to our Burkinabé clients. iDE International is currently present in 13 countries worldwide; its mission to Burkina Faso was established in March 2011 with the support of the SDC.\r\n\r\niDE’s mission is not to invent radically new technology; rather, it is to adapt existing technologies to be produced at lower cost, which allows them to reach a greater number of people and increase the income of our future clients. iDE works through the market by selecting and designing low-cost technologies and setting up rural supply chains to ensure the delivery and reliability of those technologies.\r\n\r\nWe currently serve over 3000 clients, who are supported not only by these technologies but by FBAs, or Farm Business Advisors, who are tasked with helping farmers use their new technologies efficiently and effectively. FBAs also help facilitate connections to microfinance and improved farm inputs like seeds and fertilizers.\r\n\r\nThe mission of iDE Burkina began with low-cost drip irrigation products, but we are currently developing other technologies, such as the solar pump, rainwater collection systems and electricity-free refrigeration.",

"description": "Born officially in 1947, but with roots that traces back to the revolutionary days, the Philippine Red Cross has truly become the premier humanitarian organization in the country, committed to provide quality life-saving services that protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations.\r\n\r\nThe story of the Philippine Red Cross is the story of men and women from all walks of life who have dedicated themselves to the service of humanity. It is the tale of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who devoted their time and resources to help the poorest of the poor. Professionally trained and truly compassionate, these men and women are ready to lend a helping hand to those in need – whoever, whenever and wherever they may be.\r\n\r\nIn all its 67 years of reputable existence, the Philippine Red Cross has lived through many changes that were intended to help more people. Where it used to be involved only in providing blood and in disaster-related activities, the Philippine Red Cross now focuses on a holistic approach to uplift the condition of the most vulnerable. Where it used to offer short-term palliatives, it now offers a wider array of humanitarian services ranging from preventive medicine to therapeutic counseling, to youth leadership.\r\n\r\nAt present, the Philippine Red Cross provides six major services: Blood Services, Disaster Management Services, Safety Services, Health Services, Social Services, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. All of them embody the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement – humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. These values guide and inspire all Red Cross staff and volunteers, to whom being a Red Crosser is more than just a philosophy but a way of life.\r\n",

"description": "WRMA was established as a corporate body through a gazette notice No. 8140 of 14th November 2003 pursuant to the Water Act (2002) and was operationalized in July 2005. The Authority is the lead agency in the management of water resources in the country and its overall development objective is to ensure rational, effective management of the water resources and equitable access for the various competing needs.\r\n\r\nWRMA operates in an environment where a number of stakeholders from other government institutions, the general public and private partners are directly or indirectly involved in activities which affect water resources. As the lead agency for water resources management, WRMA has to ensure that actions by all parties are well coordinated and contribute positively towards sustainable management of water resources. To realize this, WRMA has adopted the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), to coordinate management of water resources at top policy level and on the ground. In the process of executing its functions, the institution has moved closer to the people through its 6 regional and 26 sub-regional offices. The public is therefore encouraged to visit their nearest WRMA office whenever they have issues related to management of water resources.",

"description": "The Kumasi Metropolis is located in the middle of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is the second largest city in the country and the administrative capital of Ashanti. It is a fast growing Metropolis with an estimated population of more than 2.7 million people and an annual growth rate of about 2.7%. The Kumasi metropolitan Assembly is a government of Ghana Agency whose mission is in tandem with the prime functions of District Assemblies as stated in the Local Government Act of 1993 (Act 462, section 10) thus the District Assembly ‘shall be responsible for the overall development of the district and shall formulate and execute plans, programmes and strategies for the effective mobilization of the resources necessary for the overall development of the district’.\r\n\r\nThe detailed function of this Assembly is set out in the LI 1614 of 1995. The execution of these functions such as provision of socio-economic services requires efficient and effective mobilization and utilization of material, human and financial resources to improve the lives of the residents of the metropolis. Various departments under the Assembly are given specific responsibilities and the Waste Management Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is responsible for Environmental Sanitation within the metropolis. The services provided constitute an essential factor in contributing to good health, high productivity and the welfare of the people. ",

In the project they are responsible for provision of land for the Factory, make sure that SSGL has access to waste in the municipality and support these waste management processes, stakeholder management and play a role in hygiene sensitisation. In the project we have regular contact with the Municipal Chief Executive, the Coordination Director and the Waste Manager.\r\n\r\nThe Municipality has developed its own Municipal Environmental Sanitation Strategy and Action Plan (MESSAP) sharing the need for innovative and sustainable solutions for provision of water and sanitation with the inclusion of waste management. Based on our work so far, they have shown formal interest and they are willing to develop and implement the concept, for which they currently lack the means and capacities to fulfil their roles independently. The contract between ASHMA and SSGL has a reference to the responsibility of operations by SSGL, based on a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) period of 18 years.",

Mr Salifu owns the company. In 2014, HBE will build two new public toilets (each 40 seats) in Ashaiman. The company is a profit making business and brings in practical operational experience and is greatly interested in a method for proper waste treatment and to partner SSGL to develop a franchise concept for other toilet operators. In the coming years the company will roll out more public toilet services in the Ashaiman area and is seeking a strategic partnership to develop a toilet franchise concept for roll out in Ashaiman and other cities, in cooperation with SSGL.",

The school started with a vision to make the Mentally Challenged “Mentally Active, Physically Strong and Socially Competent”. It has rendered four decades of valuable service for the upliftment of the lives of the disabled. \r\n\r\nThe four decades of services in this field has really made us younger in reaching our vision to the unreached.\r\nChild Guidance Centre is a registered, non-profit making voluntary organization actively working to promote the welfare and interest of disabled children, economically poor and needy, orphans, and old age people. “Reaching the Unreached” is the motto of the organization. All the projects are predominantly aimed at empowering women and children to live a healthy and independent life and contribute positively towards creating a healthy and enriched society. \r\n",

"description": "Centre for Child Rights and Development – CCRD an organisation based at Chennai was established in the year 1998 and is registered under the Indian Trust Act of 1882. The Board of Trustees consists of five members who all have a long experience and expertise on human rights, child rights and sustainable development issues. \r\nAs a partner Organisation of ICCO/ Kerkinactie-The Netherlands since 2002 CCRD has been implementing programmes as a child rights organisation to support NGO’s, Campaigns & Networks of Child Rights and the Government of Tamil Nadu by providing Capacity Enhancement Trainings along with documentation and information dissemination services, including advocacy initiatives for influencing public policy and law including its effective implementation. This support from ICCO/kerkinactie over the years has enabled CCRD to establish itself as a “Resource Centre for Child Rights” at the State level supporting NGO’s working in different districts of Tamil Nadu including various campaigns and networks both at the national level and state level. The funding for the Resource Centre activities all these years has been mainly provided by ICCO/Kerkinactie-The Netherlands. \r\nThe need for CCRD to sustain itself as a “State level Resource Centre on Child Rights” on a long term basis, emanates from the experience of working with different NGO’s across the state, children themselves and specially targeted groups like representatives of local bodies, Anganwadi workers, Teachers, SHG leaders, Students of Social Work & Law, Academicians, Government officials and UN Agencies. This experience over the years has provided adequate intellectual stimulation and reflection opportunities to CCRD to gain a deeper understanding to intensify the existing Campaign, Advocacy and Social Mobilization initiatives in Tamil Nadu to promote and protect children’s rights. Further and most importantly CCRD has the goodwill and support of more than 75 NGOs organisations spread across different districts of Tamil Nadu and good rapport with academic institutions, government agencies, UN organisations like ILO, UNICEF and leadership positions in important campaigns & networks both at the state level and national level to implement programmes towards ensuring the “best interest of children”.
