Whilst in some areas these organisations group themselves as registered Community Based Organisations (CBO's) elsewhere they take up the responsibilities for their community volunteers individually. Although very different in character all organisations share in the task of mainstreaming HIV/AIDS and its related issues in their respective communities. Whilst doing so they make many contributions in kind such as provision of free venues, no rent for office space, totally voluntary educational activities (sessions, theatre performances, club work etc), help for sick and needy people, greatly reduced food expenses and sometimes even payment for own food. Translated into monetary terms this accounts to at least 8.400 Euro per year. Water access is about more than just installing water systems. It’s about installing the right systems, which might mean water wells, rainwater harvesting, protected springs, or something else entirely. And it’s about helping whole communities and regions have enough safe, accessible, reliable water to significantly improve the lives of the people who live there.\r\n\r\nSanitation\r\nIn places where there is no safe, clean place to go to the toilet, people struggle with disease, lack of privacy, and indignity. Once communities have access to safe, sustainable water, they can improve their sanitation, dramatically raising their quality of life—improving health, increasing school achievement, and multiplying productivity. In many areas, Living Water helps community members develop plans for sanitation that result in clean, functional latrines in homes, schools, clinics, and churches.\r\n\r\nHygiene Promotion\r\nSafe water and sanitation systems are important, but to have an impact, people need to use them effectively to improve their health. Education is important—helping people understand how to prevent diseases by washing their hands, storing their water properly, and using a latrine. But head knowledge is just the beginning; helping communities identify important behaviors and make their own plan to use them is the end goal.\r\n\r\nChristian Witness\r\nOur concern is for whole people—physical and spiritual. As followers of Jesus, we know that he has the power to transform people, restore relationships, and heal factors that lead to poverty, hunger, and thirst. We work with local churches wherever we find them, identify ways we can be part of what God is already doing, and share the good news about Jesus in simple ways—like telling stories and asking questions.\r\n\r\nSustainability\r\nFor all of these things to be effective for the long term, we have to involve the community from the very beginning. We’re learning alongside the communities we serve that projects are most sustainable when they respond to both need and demand, when financing is carefully thought through, and when management is handled locally with lots of ongoing support.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 949, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 804, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 710, "latitude": 0.313611, "longitude": 32.581111, "city": "Kampala", "state": "", "address_1": "Balintuma Road ", "address_2": "Plot 434", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "UG", "country": 21, "location_target": 804 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/a0/88/a0882682f634db51160d33975f22d770.jpg", "latitude": "0.313611", "longitude": "32.581111", "city": "Kampala", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-08-13T13:11:16+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:57.557820+01:00", "name": "Living Goods", "long_name": "Living Goods", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://livinggoods.org/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "+256 414 271 700", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "East Africa headquarters", "contact_email": "info@livinggoods.org ", "description": "Living Goods is an American NGO that operates Avon-like networks of door-to-door health promoters who make a modest income selling essential health products at prices affordable to the poor. This independence makes it possible to pursue an efficient and stimulating policy in the fields of education and research, and to take advantage of new developments. The faculty is located in the Reuvens Building on the Reuvensplaats.\r\n\r\nThe ambition of the faculty is to develop into a prominent archaeological research and training centre at a European level. In European terms, the faculty is an averagely-sized institute, with a wide range of specializations and several specialist (laboratory) facilities. Leiden can pride itself on a long archaeological tradition, going back to Professor Reuvens at the beginning of the 19th century.\r\n\r\nApart from the traditionally strong Prehistory of Northwestern Europe and Classical Archaeology, Leiden offers (as the only university in the Netherlands) a specialization in the Palaeolithic, and in the archaeology of the civilizations of the Near East, Asia, and the Americas, as well as a number of archaeological sciences, such as pollen analysis, archaeozoology, computer applications, ceramology, and microwear analysis.\r\n\r\nThe variety of non-western language and culture studies within the Faculty of Arts (CNWS), and the presence in Leiden of the National Museums of Ethnology and Antiquities, as well as Naturalis, are also enhancing factors.\r\n\r\nA clearly social responsibility of archaeology is the care of the material heritage of past cultures. International treaties (for instance Valetta) state that archaeological investigations should be carried out prior to large building projects. The faculty is active in this field via a commercial company. Hence, students get quickly involved in the practical side (traineeships) of archaeology, with attention to the managerial side of archaeological work. In addition, the faculty has agreements of cooperation with local archaeological services in the surroundings (Leiden, The Hague, Delft).\r\n\r\nAt present, the faculty has a strong market position in the Netherlands. In the last few years, the faculty has been able to welcome more than 80 new students annually. At present, the total number of students amounts to about 350.\r\n", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 352, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 511, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 351, "latitude": 52.400475, "longitude": 4.951998, "city": "Amsterdam", "state": "Noord-Holland", "address_1": "Jisperveldstraat 546", "address_2": "", "postcode": "1024 BB", "iati_country": "NL", "country": 3, "location_target": 511 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/c0/18/c018273517c494c2d6d5e8bc7700d35f.jpg", "latitude": "52.400475", "longitude": "4.951998", "city": "Amsterdam", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2012-01-06T10:18:14+01:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-02-26T13:56:57.388332+01:00", "name": "Le Pont", "long_name": "Stichting Le Pont", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.lepont.nl/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "020-6363685", "mobile": "06-28171419", "fax": "", "contact_person": "Cornelis Pieter Berkman", "contact_email": "info@lepont.nl", "description": "Stichting Le Pont heeft als doel het bevorderen van de samenwerking tussen Europa en Benin op het gebied van plattelandsontwikkeling. In these endeavours, LWF Nepal cooperates within its networks that include ecumenical, government and non-government, and community-based partner organisations.\r\n\r\nEstablished in 1984, LWF Nepal is a leading international INGO active in both development and humanitarian works. Originally engaged in sectoral development, then community development projects, LWF Nepal made a major switch in 1997 to empowerment projects. It considers right-based approach as the key to development process. \r\n\r\nLWF Nepal designs and implements all development and emergency works following empowerment and human rights-based approach that builds capacity and competence of poor, oppressed and vulnerable people to collectively achieve improvements for their quality and dignified lives. At the one hand, this approach enhances the rights holders in leading the way through proactive interventions while at the other hand it attempts to make state and other stakeholders accountable in their duties. During a trip to Thailand they discovered tremendous needs among blind children in that country. Not only because of their physical handicap, but also because of the stigma and rejection they face. Education was not available for blind children. That was the reason to start a foundation.\r\n\r\nThrough the years\r\nThrough the years the small family foundation has grown to a well-organized foundation that has become an important party in helping the blind and visually impaired in developing countries. The foundation found, and still finds, its inspiration in the Gospel that calls upon us to reach out to the poor and the underpriviliged.\r\n\r\nExtended\r\nThe primary mission of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD The Netherlands was to educate blind children. Later on, the field of work broadened. We discoverd that a lot of children become needlessly blind, so prevention and treatment of blindness was added. Also there came a demand to help people who were irreversibly blind. Rehabilitation and low vision services were added. In recent years the focus has switched to inclusive development. That means that the society is equipped for equal participation of persons with a disability.\r\n\r\nLIGHT FOR THE WORLD\r\nIn 2011 Dark & Light joined LIGHT FOR THE WORLD, a European confederation of national development NGOs committed to saving eyesight, improving the quality of life and advocating for the rights of person with disabilities in the underprivileged regions of our world. LIGHT FOR THE WORLD has members in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic and The Netherlands.\r\n\r\nSince 2012, Dark & Light Foundation is called LIGHT FOR THE WORLD The Netherlands. As a confederation member we still have our own identity, mission, vision, board and staff.\r\n\r\nLIGHT FOR THE WORLD The Netherlands supports about 40 projects in 11 countries in Africa and Asia. On a yearly basis about 5 million euro is spent on projects. The office is based in Veenendaal, The Netherlands with about 14 staff.
