ACC developed from a small nucleus of Kenya Nationals associated with Wildlife Conservation International (Kenya) WCI, a Division of NYZS the Wildlife Conservation Strategy to respond to conservation challenges in East Africa. In its formative years, ACC pioneered research methods in Ecosystems research and Ecotourism. It also pioneered Community-based Conservation concepts and practices. ACC selects pilot Conservation projects with a high chance of success and broad application in these areas ACC believes in saving African wildlife through sound Science, local initiatives, and good Governance. \r\n\r\nA primary aim is to bring together the people and skills needed to build East Africa’s capacity to conserve Wildlife. ACC achieves its Mission through programs that conserve Ecosystems and maintain continuous and open Landscapes and those that improve the incomes and Livelihoods of local Communities through the sustainable utilization of Wildlife and Natural Resources. ACC also seeks to establish strong Community-based institutional structures that address common and salient conservation and livelihood challenges. ACC’s conservation programs are based on a multi-pronged approach. Although the African Conservation Centre’s core mandate is conservation, this cannot take place in a vacuum. The Authority is the lead agency in the management of water resources in the country and its overall development objective is to ensure rational, effective management of the water resources and equitable access for the various competing needs.\r\n\r\nWRMA operates in an environment where a number of stakeholders from other government institutions, the general public and private partners are directly or indirectly involved in activities which affect water resources. As the lead agency for water resources management, WRMA has to ensure that actions by all parties are well coordinated and contribute positively towards sustainable management of water resources. To realize this, WRMA has adopted the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), to coordinate management of water resources at top policy level and on the ground. In the process of executing its functions, the institution has moved closer to the people through its 6 regional and 26 sub-regional offices. The public is therefore encouraged to visit their nearest WRMA office whenever they have issues related to management of water resources.", "notes": "", "can_create_projects": false, "enforce_program_projects": false, "use_project_roles": false, "public_iati_file": true, "enforce_2fa": false, "can_become_reporting": false, "iati_prefixes": null, "primary_location": 2471, "content_owner": null, "original": null, "password_policy": null, "codelist": null, "internal_org_ids": [] }, { "id": 2353, "total_budgets": [], "recipient_org_budgets": [], "region_budgets": [], "country_budgets": [], "total_expenditures": [], "documents": [], "locations": [ { "id": 2470, "latitude": 0.0, "longitude": 0.0, "city": "Naivasha", "state": "", "address_1": "", "address_2": "", "postcode": "", "iati_country": "KE", "country": 27, "location_target": 2353 } ], "logo": "https://storage.googleapis.com/akvo-rsr-production-media-files/cache/b2/da/b2da2aa7d981338c6015015eec87efeb.jpg", "latitude": "0.0", "longitude": "0.0", "city": "Naivasha", "current_user_permissions": { "can_create_iati_export": false, "can_edit_iati_export": false }, "created_at": "2014-10-23T13:36:11+02:00", "last_modified_at": "2015-08-06T11:57:22.071765+02:00", "name": "Imarisha Naivasha", "long_name": "Imarisha Naivasha", "language": "en", "organisation_type": "N", "currency": "EUR", "new_organisation_type": 22, "iati_org_id": null, "url": "http://www.imarishanaivasha.or.ke/", "facebook": "", "twitter": "", "linkedin": "", "phone": "", "mobile": "", "fax": "", "contact_person": "", "contact_email": "", "description": "The Imarisha Naivasha is composed of representatives of key Government ministries, Commercial Flower Growers, Water Resource Users, Forest Resource Users, Beach Management Units, Pastoralists, Civil Society organizations that operate within the basin.\r\n\r\nImarisha Naivasha is a management with overall mandate and responsibility for coordination and not an implementing agency. They are a non-denominational, non-governmental and non-political organisation.\r\n\r\nGOAL began implementing an emergency response programme in Kenya in 1983 to response to an influx of refugees from, what is now, South Sudan and to provide drought assistance in the Horn of Africa.\r\n\r\nThirty years later, GOAL Kenya is actively continuing our work to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.\r\n\r\nCurrently, the GOAL Kenya programme has offices in two locations, Nairobi and Marsabit.\r\n\r\nThe Nairobi programme comprises of integrated projects that target extremely vulnerable children, young people and marginalised populations living in Nairobi’s slums. \r\n\r\nGOAL’s programmes focus on children’s empowerment and protection (CEP), health, HIV and AIDS, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sectors.\r\n\r\nGOAL’s programme in Marsabit responds to the drought crisis that regularly affects communities living in northern Kenya’s arid lands. This is accomplished by increasing access to clean water and sanitation facilities and encouraging changes in hygienic behaviour. \r\n\r\nIssues of child protection, gender, environment, HIV and AIDS and livelihoods are also integrated into GOAL’s programmes in Kenya. The aim is to empower individuals and communities to access their rights, fulfil their potential and initiate real and sustainable change.\r\n\r\nGOAL also delivers emergency preparedness and response in Kenya. In recent years, we responded to the post-election violence of 2007 / 2008 by building houses for displaced families in the Nakuru valley. We also supported Somali refugees in Dadaab camp, north-western Kenya, by providing emergency shelter and constructing sanitation facilities.
