The founding aim of DAM is the social and spiritual development of the human community at large. DAM made paradigm shift in the mid-seventies from welfare to development approach with programme operation primarily in education and human development sectors. Since that time DAM has been diversifying its development interventions with expansion of programme coverage both geographically and in population. With its multifaceted and diversified programmes and activities DAM is now in a very unique position to work with the people, particularly the disadvantaged, with need-based services toward improvement of their living conditions.\r\n\r\nDhaka Ahsania Mission launched first community learning centre, locally known as Gonokendra, in 1987. The centre is meant for lifelong learning and community development. There are more than 100 Gonokendras across the country, of which five are ICT-based. As the objectives of the centres were sharing knowledge and information, they started with traditional tools. Each of the centres is functioning as a community-based information centre of local GO-NGO extension departments. People can come to the centres to read newspapers and exchange experience, learn from success stories, get information about innovations, which can improve their livelihoods. A few centres started using computer for interactive information communication. "description": "The Village Education Resource Center (VERC) was established in 1977 as a project of Save the Children-USA with funding from UNICEF. In 1981 it was indigenized as a Private Voluntary Development Organization (PVDO). VERC was designed to fill the void of in-country capacity building support to government and related community and rural development agencies. Its initial activities included communication, education, training material development, imparting training, conduct participatory action research and technology promotion.\r\nVERC’s field program evolved out of its need for an environment to apply its innovations in participatory development. VERC also worked to undertake capacity building activities of the rural poor, beginning with women’s literacy, health and sanitation and human resource development.\r\nRight from the beginning, it was however obvious that VERC’s main forte was its training services. Its commitment to quality materials, content and trainers quickly led to its recognition as a leading organization in this field. Its variety of development education, management, sectoral and skill training courses have reached almost around 417680 people to March 2012.\r\nVision : A self-reliant society based on justice, equity and sustainability, where every human being has the equal opportunity to maximize their potentials.\r\nIn all its work, VERC is committed to the principle of “self-actualization” a process of raising people’s consciousness to a level at which they can realize their potentials and are motivated to reorder their lives. \r\nPROGRAMS\r\nEntering its 36th year of operation, VERC’s activities have both grown and diversified as to include:\r\nField level\r\n\r\n Institution Building & Income Generation\r\n Water, Sanitation Hygiene Promotion, Arsenic Mitigation & Technology \r\n Development\r\n Education\r\n Health – Preventive and Clinical support on maternal and child health \r\n care\r\n Environmental Protection\r\n Assisting the GOB in promoting good governance in the country \r\n Disaster Preparedness and Management\r\n Integrating Disability Issues in Community Development\r\n\r\nSupport Services \r\n Training & Communication\r\n Research, Monitoring, Evaluation & Documentation\r\n Capacity Building ofs Local Organisations and Strengthening of Local \r\n Government \r\nAbout eighty percent of VERC's services are aimed at the interest of the poor women and children. In many of its human development efforts, VERC’s success has been encouraging, though along with its share of ups VERC has had to endure its share of downs as well. It is in the face of adversity that VERC has learnt many of its most valuable lessons. A long-term strategic framework has been developed by which VERC hopes to maximize sustainability of its development efforts.\r\n",

"description": "UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. That makes us unique among world organizations, and unique among those working with the young.\r\n\r\nWe believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity.\r\n\r\nWe advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.\r\n\r\nWe promote girls’ education – ensuring that they complete primary education as a minimum – because it benefits all children, both girls and boys. Girls who are educated grow up to become better thinkers, better citizens, and better parents to their own children.\r\n\r\nWe act so that all children are immunized against common childhood diseases, and are well nourished, because it is wrong for a child to suffer or die from a preventable illness.\r\n\r\n\r\n\"For Every Child\" is a UNICEF video which highlights the importance of realizing children's rights as foreseen in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.\r\nWe work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people because it is right to keep them from harm and enable them to protect others. We help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity.\r\n\r\nWe involve everyone in creating protective environments for children. We are present to relieve suffering during emergencies, and wherever children are threatened, because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation.\r\n\r\nUNICEF upholds the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We work to assure equality for those who are discriminated against, girls and women in particular. We work for the Millennium Development Goals and for the progress promised in the United Nations Charter. We strive for peace and security. We work to hold everyone accountable to the promises made for children.\r\n\r\nWe are part of the Global Movement for Children – a broad coalition dedicated to improving the life of every child. Through this movement, and events such as the United Nations Special Session on Children, we encourage young people to speak out and participate in the decisions that affect their lives. \r\n\r\nWe are active in more than 190 countries and territories through country programmes and National Committees. We are UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund.",

"description": "CD Bethesda is a non-profit, non-governmental organization focused on providing health solutions and services for marginalized communities, especially those in rural areas. We began in 1974 by offering assistance to poor patients of Bethesda Hospital whose problems could not be solved by the hospital alone. After several years we realized that illnesses in communities are often caused by factors such as poverty, ignorance and social injustice. In order to help the communities solve these problems, CD Bethesda evolved into a primary and holistic health services institution, expanding the scope of our work to include community development, training and education in addition to providing basic health services. These community based programs and trainings empower the people to help themselves overcome their basic health problems giving them hope in their battle to overcome poverty.",

All artists, production crews and management staff live together in a dormitory complex, getting their routine through daily classes such as body movements, various modern-dance techniques, choreography and acting, English language, literature and poetry, communication etiquette, music/vocal training and many more. All those learnings prove their totality to dedicate their life to Arts. That is how, from a modest dance-training center, EKI has transformed into a cultural canopy for Arts.",

The history of this pluralist value inspired five women to campaign for freedom of sexual choices. In this spirit, Ardhanary Institute aims to champion and respect individual preferences.",

"description": "The Asia Research Centre at Murdoch University was first established in 1988. Then in 1991, through a nationally competitive process, it became a Special Research of the Australian Research Council. \r\n\r\nAs one of only two federally-funded special research centres on Asia in Australia, its brief was to enhance Australia’s understanding of its Asian environments by providing analysis of social, political, cultural, and economic change in East and Southeast Asia. \r\n\r\nThe Asia Research Centre develops several strategies to maintain its role as an internationally recognized leader in research on contemporary Asia. In line with this, key projects in 2000 examined globalization as well as national and local systems of governance, and cross-border policy issues including human impact of animal diseases, environmentally sustainable settlements and reverse migration. \r\n\r\nThe Centre was reconstituted in 2002 as a divisional centre at Murdoch University. Since then its objectives have been to: produce high quality academic research publications for international and domestic audiences; foster the development of high research graduates; and contribute constructively to public policy debate and public understanding on various issues concerning Asia. \r\n",
