The reconstructions are inhabited by so-called ‘Archeo-interpreters’. They re-create the past with as much authenticity as possible.\r\n",

"description": "The Leadership Initiative for Transformation and Empowerment (LITE-Africa), formerly known as the Niger Delta Professionals for Development (NIDPRODEV),is a Nigerian non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in the Niger Delta since 1999. Its current programs focus on three thematic areas: Governance & Human Rights, Sustainable Livelihoods & Health, and Humanitarian Support Services. We also have a business arm through the Private Sector Engagement in Development, where we work with various transnational companies for community relations services, training on human rights framework and various other needs. LITE-Africa advances these thematic areas through:\nProgrammes: LITE-Africa develops and implements high impact, community centered programmes. Each of its programmes builds off past programmes to strengthen, expand, deepen and implement lessons learned. This approach allows beneficiaries to gain maximum returns from its programmes. Its existing programmes add value to its donors because of its wide reach and measurable outcomes; this also allows it to inform the work of policy makers, government officials and oil companies (with respect to corporate social responsibility). In addition to this, it will continue to develop and implement new and innovative programmes in the various areas.\nResearch and Development: The high impact programmes which LITE-Africa implements at the community level are use as a tool to inform policy nationally and internationally. Its expertise has allowed it to produce assessments of existing development policies and practices; these assessments have been key in stimulating national dialogue and strengthening government transparency and accountability. Moreover, its expertise allows it to produce policy briefs, opinion editorials and media content using the Niger Delta as a case study in developing effective community level programmes within and beyond the Niger Delta. Our research is widely circulated for national and international consumption.\nNetworking and Collaboration: LITE-Africa maintains partnerships with CSO's and CBO's working on similar issues at the national, regional and international levels.",

It provides a platform for dialogue for a cross section of land owners and land users including local community groups, private ranchers, pastoralists, small scale farmers and tourism ventures. The principal resource and strength of the LWF is its membership.\r\n\r\nMission:\r\nTo conserve Laikipia’s wildlife and ecosystem integrity and improve the lives of its people by bringing its societies together to conserve and sustainably use the natural resources on which they depend.\r\n\r\nVision:\r\nTo see a healthy and productive natural environment for people and wildlife for the future of Laikipia & Kenya.\r\n\r\nHistory:\r\nLWF was created in response to an initiative by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) designed to engage landowners and land users in the conservation and management of wildlife in non-protected areas. Since its inception in 1992 there has been a significant expansion of localised conservation effort and expertise in relation to wild animals. Whilst wild animals remain central to the conservation effort, LWF has taken an increasingly holistic approach with emphasis on cross-cutting environmental issues that affect larger sections of the population.",

"description": "The Kumasi Metropolis is located in the middle of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is the second largest city in the country and the administrative capital of Ashanti. It is a fast growing Metropolis with an estimated population of more than 2.7 million people and an annual growth rate of about 2.7%. The Kumasi metropolitan Assembly is a government of Ghana Agency whose mission is in tandem with the prime functions of District Assemblies as stated in the Local Government Act of 1993 (Act 462, section 10) thus the District Assembly ‘shall be responsible for the overall development of the district and shall formulate and execute plans, programmes and strategies for the effective mobilization of the resources necessary for the overall development of the district’.\r\n\r\nThe detailed function of this Assembly is set out in the LI 1614 of 1995. The execution of these functions such as provision of socio-economic services requires efficient and effective mobilization and utilization of material, human and financial resources to improve the lives of the residents of the metropolis. Various departments under the Assembly are given specific responsibilities and the Waste Management Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is responsible for Environmental Sanitation within the metropolis. The services provided constitute an essential factor in contributing to good health, high productivity and the welfare of the people. ",

"description": "The Kibii Foundation is a new and ambitious organization in Suriname founded by a group of people determined to make a change in the lives of hundreds of people in the district of Marowijne. This district where traditional maroon lifestyle and culture are threatened with demise and the young people from its communities fail to see any possibilities for a hopeful future, is offered a new lease on life by the establishment of the Kibii foundation.\r\n\r\nArtist and native of the district of Marowijne Marcel Pinas (Pelgrimkondre, 1971), together with other members of the foundation and a team of local and international supporters, have initiated the Marowijne Project. With its center of activities located in the city of Moengo, the Marowijne Project draws upon the strengths of the art and culture of this beautifully diverse nation to build a new and positive future for the war struck and subsequently neglected communities of Marowijne.\r\n\r\nThe Kibii Foundation aims to create future perspectives for the youth of Marowijne in their own homesteads. In order to achieve this, the organization will create a multitude of developmental opportunities through an Art Park and a Multi-Cultural Center in the district of Marowijne, based upon the promotion of art, culture and tourism.",

It is a state corporation established by an Act of Parliament Cap 376 with the mandate to conserve and manage wildlife in Kenya, and to enforce related laws and regulations.\r\n\r\nThe challenges facing wildlife and biodiversity conservation in Kenya are many and varied. They include climate change, habitat degradation and loss, forest depletion, tourism market volatility, human wildlife conflict brought on by population growth and changing land use habits of communities that co-exist with wildlife as well as wildlife crime.\r\n\r\nTo tackle these issues, we employ a multi-pronged approach and strategies and engage different interest groups, stakeholders and partners.\r\n\r\nKWS undertakes conservation and management of wildlife resources outside protected areas in collaboration with stakeholders. It is our goal to work with others to conserve, protect and sustainably manage wildlife resources. The community wildlife program of KWS in collaboration with others encourages biodiversity conservation by communities living on land essential to wildlife, such as wildlife corridors and dispersal lands outside parks and reserves. The premise is that \"if people benefit from wildlife and other natural resources, then they will take care of these resources.\"\r\n\r\nOur Vision\r\n\"To save the last great species and places on earth for humanity”\r\n\r\nOur Mission\r\n“To sustainably conserve, manage, and enhance Kenya's wildlife, its habitats, and provide a wide range of public uses in collaboration with stakeholders for posterity”",

"description": "The Kenya Water and Sanitation Network (KEWASNET) was founded in August 2007 to enable civil society organizations involved in the Water and Sanitation Sector (WSS) to work in a coordinated manner.\r\n\r\nThe overall purpose of the Network is to ensure that Kenyans have access to affordable and safe water and sanitation services in a sustainable context. The membership is drawn from civil society organizations that are working to improve water resource management and increase efficiency in service delivery in water and sanitation services. \r\n\r\nBroadly, KEWASNET provides a linkage between service providers and consumers by facilitating partnerships between policy makers and stakeholders and encouraging equitable participation by all parties in governance and decision-making mechanisms. \r\nOrganizational identity \r\nKEWASNET is registered as a non-governmental voluntary, non-partisan and non-profit trust under the Kenyan Trustees Act. Nationwide recruitment of member civil society organizations is ongoing so as to continuously increase citizen participation in the management of Kenya’s water and sanitation services. \r\n\r\nThe participation of civil society organizations in all-important decision-making about management of water resources is legitimized in the Water Act 2002. In keeping with the main principles outlined in the Water Act2002, KEWASNET seeks broader participation in the monitoring and evaluation of policy implementation and in all areas related to the management of water resources and services. \r\n\r\nThis is to ensure that the development of water resources and access to water services is socially acceptable to different citizen groups, especially marginalized communities. A related aim is to ensure that the supply of water to the poor is achieved through government and its agencies, at acceptable levels, and in compliance with the provisions of the Water Act 2002.",
