We oppose the criminalisation of people simply on the basis of what drugs they choose to use, and fight to document, expose and stop the human rights abuses that are carried out against the drug using community, whether in the name of drug control, treatment, or security. A special focus of our advocacy is on the impact of repressive legal environment on the spread of HIV amongst the injecting community. We advocate for the revocation of laws that criminalise drug use, and argue for supportive legal environments, as well as for the provision of both needle and syringe exchange, and opioid substitution programmes. This colourful collection of theatre tents, fountain tents, the chairoplane and the global restaurants make the de Parade festival site resemble an old-fashioned fair ground.\r\n\r\nEvery year the de Parade programme is like a refreshingly theatrical maze. The public can choose from a selection of performances usually produced especially for de Parade and shown simultaneously on the festival site. The length of the shows varies from three to sixty minutes. Every performance is repeated several times each night. There is also an extensive children's parade.
