"description": "The Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) is a multi-donor partnership administered by the World Bank to support poor people in obtaining affordable, safe and sustainable access to water and sanitation services.\r\n \r\nWe work directly with client governments at the local and national level in 25 countries through regional offices in Africa, East and South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and in, Washington D.C. \r\n \r\nWSP has led or supported many of the advances made within the water and sanitation sector over the last three decades. We are able to share best practices across regions and place a strong focus on capacity-building by forming partnerships with academia, civil society organizations, donors, governments, media, private sector, and others. Our work helps to effect the regulatory and structural changes needed for broad water and sanitation sector reform.\r\n \r\nOur challenge is to replicate successful approaches, continue targeted learning efforts, and support reforms that ensure the adoption of sustainable investments in the sector that help people rise from poverty.",

Sixty-five years later, it has grown into a politically outspoken and influential national federation of over twenty local chapters and is widely regarded as a torch-bearer of LGBTI emancipation both in the Netherlands and abroad. Domestically, COC is (co)responsible for the establishment of equal age of consent for gay and straight sexual activity and the introduction of comprehensive antidiscrimination legislation and the various laws, policies and arrangements that make the Netherlands the world’s most LGBTI-friendly country to live in [© Radio Netherlands Worldwide, September 2011]. The organisations’ headquarters is based in Amsterdam and employs a full-time professional staff of twenty-five. In 2010, the annual turnover was an estimated €4,8 million, with international projects constituting about 43% of the total budget.",

CASA also supports local self-governance, peace and reconciliation and sustainable livelihood measures and responds to the environmental issues, natural and man made disasters and strives to bring the victims to the mainstream while upholding the human dignity. IUCN publishes the Red List of Threatened Species and is the only environmental organization with official UN Observer Status. IUCN unites more than 1,200 government and NGO members and almost 11,000 volunteer experts in some 160 countries.\r\n\r\nWithin the international IUCN umbrella organization, IUCN NL helps the world find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing environment and development challenges such as biodiversity loss, climate change and poverty. Nature is fundamental to addressing these problems. Natural capital is the foundation of our economy and our wellbeing. It provides us with food, clean water, fresh air, energy, medicine and a roof over our head. That is why the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems is at the heart of IUCN's mission.\r\n\r\nIUCN currently has 38 Netherlands-based member organizations. In striving towards a sustainable future we work closely with these members and our network of companies, governments, southern NGOs and scientists, sharing knowledge and expertise, executing concrete projects and influencing the political agenda. We focus on three themes: green international cooperation, greening companies, and restoring and conserving nature. \r\n",

"description": "Kitale Community Advancement Programme (KAP) is a community education and counselling programme working in Trans Nzoia County/Kenya, which aims to mitigate the impact of societal breakdown especially violence, trauma, addictions, HIV/AIDS risky behaviours and environmental degradation. Its activities focus on capacity-building voluntary community resource persons, providing a variety of (group) counselling- and psycho-education services whilst also planning to provide trainings for a fee.\r\n\r\nOriginally started and run by the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) in 1993 as ‘Kitale AIDS Programme’, in December 2009 the programme was registered as a national Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) separate from the Catholic Church. Whilst implementing its HIV preventive activities the urgent need to address major underlying and related societal problems became apparent. \r\nThis lead to efforts towards re-branding. In April 2017 KAP is finalizing its process for name change with relevant Kenyan Authorities: from ‘Kitale AIDS Programme (KAP)’ to ‘Kitale Community Advancement Programme (KAP)’.\r\n\r\nKAP’s main objective is “To facilitate, promote and create innovative and sustainable educational and counselling approaches to mitigate the impact of societal breakdown, especially violence, abuse, trauma, addictions, HIV/AIDS and related problems and environmental degradation”.\r\nIts main areas of interest are (A) Trauma Management, Prevention and Peace, (B ) Addiction Prevention, Community-Based Treatment & Referral, (C) HIV/AIDS Behaviour Interventions and (D) Comprehensive Recovery for Extra Vulnerable Youths. Care for the environment is integrated in all components.\r\nKAP sees societal cohesion, community ownership, personal responsibility, true commitment and therefore true voluntarism as vital prerequisites for healing and defeating violence, trauma, addiction, HIV and restoring environmental damage. KAP’s work is based on a strong and practical spirituality with an ecumenical and interfaith character.\r\n\r\nBetween 2002 - 2016 KAP trained and followed-up 3,885 volunteers with 70% still active 8 months after training with at least 1 activity per week. KAP has 14 staffs and 25 community trainers. \r\n\r\nKAP’s activities show to impact people deeply and lead to sincere efforts towards healing, peace and addiction-free and/or safe(r) behaviours. These include reduction of participants’ risky, violent or disruptive relationships and addictions, improved communication with partners and others, addressing of different sorts of stigma, ethnic imbalance and reconciliation between warring parties, and also increase in Voluntary HIV Counseling and Testing, -treatment and addressing of (the many) STIs, use of medical (HIV) treatment and preventive tools. Participants say that they are much helped by KAP’s psychological counseling sessions. Usually these concern extremely difficult domestic situations of neglect, loneliness, violence, (gang) rapes, including of young children, and broken families and relationships. ",

"description": "The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) is advancing trade to improve the economic situation and livelihoods of people across the Islamic world. As an autonomous entity within the Islamic Development Bank Group, the ITFC was formed to consolidate the trade finance business that was formerly undertaken by various windows within the IDB Group. The consolidation of the bank’s trade finance activities under a single umbrella increases the efficiency of service delivery by enabling rapid response to customer needs in a market-driven business environment.\r\n \r\nAs a leader in Shari’ah-compliant trade finance, we deploy our expertise and funds to businesses and governments in member countries of the OIC. Our primary focus is encouraging intra-trade among member countries, and we are active in developing and diversifying Islamic finance solutions to further trade. As an international financial service organization, we have a rigorous commitment to work with our clients in proactive, accountable and efficient ways.\r\n \r\nAs a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, we have unique access to governments and work as a facilitator to mobilize private and public resources to achieve a measurable impact on trade and development. The ITFC helps businesses in Islamic countries gain better access to trade finance and provides them with the necessary education and training to compete successfully in the global marketplace. Our efforts are geared to building stronger trade relations between member countries and giving individuals opportunities to grow and prosper.\r\n \r\nRespect for our Islamic heritage is at the heart of everything we do. We have a clear vision: to share and apply our intra trade skills – linking together people, partnerships and possibilities to make strong connections that empower, expand and enrich economies, communities and individuals. We are robust and responsible at our core but balance this with an energy and drive – seeking out new opportunities that enable the Islamic world to prosper.\r\n \r\nThe four cornerstones of our business – our customers, business partners, member countries and our products and services – provide a solid foundation on which we are building a promising and exciting future. Operating to world-class standards, the ITFC promotes the IDB Groups developmental objectives through its two main pillars, Trade Finance and Trade Promotion, to fulfill its brand promise of 'Advancing Trade & Improving Lives'.",

"description": "FIT Resources is a not for profit institution whose mandate is to alleviate poverty by promoting sustainable and effective Business Development Services (BDS) for Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs). FIT is part of a network of organizations initiated by ILO in six African Countries in East Central and West Africa in the early 90s. FIT has identified personnel to be a key resource in development and therefore places Capacity Building at the core of its activities.\r\n\r\nFIT believes that effective services that blend well with the objectives of development agencies, governments and those of target beneficiaries will increase growth and generate employment. Our strategy for sustainable livelihoods is to improve the supply of sustainable development services and skills to communities and SMEs through capacity building and access to markets and or services.\r\n\r\nIn Kenya and most countries in Sub Saharan Africa 80% of the population reside in rural areas with approximately 90% deriving their livelihoods from agriculture and agriculture related activities. The highest poverty levels are also to be found in the rural areas. FIT has therefore concentrated on promoting initiatives in the rural areas aimed at promoting agriculture as a business.\r\n\r\nFIT therefore believes that targeting the poorest people to be able to participate in their own development will spur sustainable poverty alleviation across board. Hence FIT Programmes have focused on promoting initiatives that are cost effective and can be implemented by the people themselves.\r\n\r\nFIT Resources offers exceptional collective knowledge and experience in innovative approaches to agricultural & enterprise development, intervention design, implementation and evaluation, management, and diversification of income resources among the rural poor. Our programmes have helped many entrepreneurs and development organizations to restructure and rationalize and commercialize their activities in order to improve wealth creation leading to improved and sustainable livelihoods.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhat we do\r\n\r\nBroadly, FIT promotes SME development through:\r\n\r\n•\tResearch\r\n•\tDesign and implementation of programmes\r\n•\tProject analysis, design and or management \r\n•\tMonitoring and Evaluation of SME projects\r\n•\tCapacity building for institutions who work with SMEs\r\n\r\nMain Focus\r\n\r\nFIT works with and through:\r\n\r\n•\tMedia houses in the development and implementation of commercially viable media programmes that benefit smallholder farmers mainly in rural communities. FIT builds capacities of Media staff and consultants,\r\n•\tDonors, Governments and trade associations that promote smallholder farmers in specific sub-sectors especially honey and the horticultural sub-sectors. FIT builds capacities of staff and consultants working for governments and donors and,\r\n•\tFinancial institutions that support micro-entrepreneurs in agribusiness. FIT builds capacities of staff and consultants in financial institutions. \r\n\r\n\r\nStandards and Monitoring\r\n\r\nAll FIT projects are subject to continuous monitoring, feedback and regular reviews to ensure that the assignments are completed within prescribed timeframe and emerging issues consistently addressed.\r\n\r\nInstitutional Links\r\n\r\nNetworking is a fundamental component of FIT’s business strategy. FIT was established by ILO as a network of organisations in six East, Central and West Africa. The network provides FIT enormous opportunities experience sharing and support amongst the network members. FIT has received support from various donor agencies who include the Dutch Government, ILO Technical Assistance, Department for International Development (DfID) and Micro Enterprise Support Programme of the European Union.\r\n",

In 2007 the ICR became ISCR, the Superior Institutes for Conservation and Restoration and it is also the site of the Superior Training School for Restoration. Primary activities include carrying out research on the environmental, natural and accidental factors that deteriorate the underwater Heritage, and on the actions required to prevent and reduce the effects of such damage, and setting guidelines for conservation and restoration activities.",
