XM-DAC-47056-25548 World Agroforestry Centre <narrative>Drydev Programme</narrative> Supporting smallholder farmers in selected dryland areas of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Ethiopia, and Kenya. The Drylands Development Programme (DryDev) is a six-year initiative (August 2013 to July 2019) funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the Netherlands, with a substantial contribution from World Vision Australia (WVA). With the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) as the overall implementing agency, DryDev is being implemented by a consortium of five National Lead Organizations (NLOs) and 13 Implementation Partners (IPs) in selected dryland areas of Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali and Niger. This integrated development programme seeks to meaningfully contribute to sustainable rural development. It aims to reach over 227,000 farmers across the five target countries with proven interventions for ensuring food and water security enhancing productivity at both watershed and farm levels. DryDev envisions a future where households in the targeted drylands areas have transitioned from subsistence farming and emergency aid to sustainable rural development. The programme is working to realize this vision in two ways. The first is through the provision of direct development support to farmers through interventions such as farm-level water and soil management; watershed restoration; agricultural commodity production; and value chain and institutional development. The second is by influencing wider policy, practice, and investment decisions.
