FUNDAPEC was founded on May 23, 1967 by the Action for Education and Culture, Inc. (APEC). It arose from the need to provide timely financing with reasonable terms in order to provide for students with proven intellectual capacity to study at home and abroad.

The mission of FUNDAPEC is to provide adequate financial resources, to promote education, growth opportunities for customers and to contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of the nation.
