The Honduran Association of Water Boards or AHJASA (Honduras) is a local, legally registered non-governmental organization with over two decades of experience in implementing, monitoring and evaluating water & sanitation projects specifically designed for rural communities. The key of their success is employing travelling technicians, conducting training sessions and programs for trainers who in turn carry out technical assistance to their own water associations. AHJASA’s accomplishments include the organization of ten National Conferences; the construction of a Training Center; installation of 550 water disinfecting devices, upgrading of 600+ water systems and installation of 500+ manual pumps; training of 4,000 water operators and over 750 water associations; and the implementation of the Chlorine Bank Program.
